Lesson 11

Warming up: 1. Greetings.
2. Review the drills
New lesson
Step 1. No. 1. Letters
Demonstrate:
1. Use a alphabet poster to review the letters the Ss has learned.
2. Hold up the letter card U and read the letter a few times and make sure the Ss repeat after you. Then point to the picture as you say the word that goes with the letter. Emphasize the beginning sound of each word and get the Ss to say the sound with you.
Step 2. Play the tape for the Ss to follow. And then make them read by themselves]
Step 3. Write the letters on the Bb. The letters have arrows that show how and in what sequence to make the strokes. On the Bb, show the Ss how to follow the arrows to write each letter. Encourage hem to follow your motions and write in the air as you write in the Bb. Make sure they can write the letters in their exercise book in right way.
Step 4.
No. 4. What colour is it?
Point to the Bb, say “What colour is it?” “ It’s black”
Hold up a piece of paper and say “ It is white”. Point to a brown thing and teach the word brown. Then ask the Ss again “What colour is the Bb?” and something else. Encourage them to answer “ It’s black/white…..”
Step 5. Play the tape for the Ss to follow.
Step 6. Review all the names of colours. Divide the Ss into small groups and practice the colours, using the colour poster or objects in the classroom.
Step 7. No. 3. Favourite colour
Demonstrate: use actins and facial expressions and say “I like readers. My favourite book is
readers. I like dumplings. My favourite food is dumplings.”
Step 8. Ask the Ss “ What’s your favourite colour?” Help them understand and answer the question. Ask the Ss to repeat the word favourite and ask questions using it.
Step 9. Play the tape for the Ss to follow.
Step 10. Story “Jenny’s favourite colour”
Discuss the picture first. Then play the tape as the Ss read along with the pictures. Discuss some words when necessary. The Ss only need to understand the main idea of the story, not every word. Have a further discussion about the story and ask some queations. Use Chinese and gestures when necessary.
What’s Jenny’s favourite colour?
Where is Jenny’ blue marker?
Why Jenny is happy?
Step 11. If time permits, do some exercise in activity book.
Step 12. Homework
1. Read the text
Finish the remaining activity in the activity book.

Warming up and review:
1. Greet the class with “Good morning/ Good afternoon./How are you?”. Make sure the students can respond in correct way.
2. Review the numbers one to five on your number poster. Ask “ How many…?” Help them answer with right numbers. You can also hold up some objects and ask the same questions.
New lesson:
Step1. No 1. How many?
Demonstrate: Introduce the numbers six to ten with your number poster. Point to the number
“six” and say the word a few times to make them understand it. Then ask them to repeat after you. Make sure them pronounce it correctly. Teach other numbers in the same way.
Step 2. Play the audiotape as the students follow in their books.
Step 3. Explain the plural form of noun.
Write the word desk on the blackboard. Explain that there is only one desk. Say “ If we have two or more desks, what should we do? We should add a ‘s’ after the word ‘desk’”, adding a “s” after the word desk at the same time.
Write the words “chair, apple, marker and pencil” on the blackboard. And then add an “s” after each word. Then read the words one by one and ask the students to follow you. Make sure they can pronounce correct sound of each “s”. Explain the simple rule of the plural form of noun.
Step 4. Practice:
Using the poster, practice the numbers with the following drills;
T: What is this?
S: It’s a _____.(six, seven, eight, nine or ten)
T: Is this a ____ or a _____?
S: It’s a _____.
After that you can point to some real things in the classroom to ask “How many…” and make them answer with right numbers.
Step 5. No 2 Let’s chant
Demonstrate: Use action to teach “walk” and say “walk” a few times at the same time. Then say “ I walk to school every day.” Make them understand it. Use actions to teach “close the door, open the window”. Then you pick up a marker and pretend to draw and teach “ draw your classmate”. At last use a pen to teach “write with a pen”. Make sure all the students understand the meanings of the phrases.
Step 6. Practice
Read aloud the words and the phrases in No 2 for them. Make sure they understand the meaning of the sentences. Then ask them to repeat after you. Make them pronounce every word correctly.
Step 7. Play the audiotape as the students follow in their books. Then ask them to practice the chant themselves.
Step 8.Activity book
The top of the exercise. Guide them to do it.
Step 9. Time to ask questions
Ask the students if they have questions to ask. Answer their questions in the class.
Class closing: Homework
1. Read the text in lesson 12
2. Do the remaining activities in the activity book
3. Read the next reading in the student book
If time permits, sing the “A B C song” together
