Picture the scene: You come home after work, feeling too tired to cook—only to find delicious meals as delicious as those in Michelin. It sounds impossible. But thanks to a robot developed by British scientists, it will come true.
Scientists have come up with a set of robotic arms. These “robots” can cook meals. They will be sold from as early as 2020 with a price of about 10,000. A robot includes an oven, a special kitchen knife, a dishwasher and a sink(洗涤槽).
Scientists at Moley Robotics spent almost 18 years developing the hands, which are made up of 24 motors, 26 microcontrollers and 129 sensors.
11
According to the creators, the arms can cook almost anything you would like to eat. They do as a human does, but the hands move a little slowly. Even if there are a few splashes(飞溅物), it doesn't matter—the dishwasher can make everything nice and clean.
Users will be able to “order” dinner on their way home, or breakfast when they wake up, using an app on their smartphones, picking recipes depending on the materials they have in it.
Mr. Oleynik, who is one of the project developers, said, “All the things which are possible with the hand are possible here. ”

Would you like to sit in the seat of a bus while it drives itself? This experience may not be far away. These days, Alphabet's selfdriving buses are doing a test in Shenzhen. It is believed to be the first such live test in the world.
Each bus looks like a normal one. There's even a driver in position for safety. But the new buses drive automatically(自动地)along designed routes without a diver's hands ever touching the wheel. They can avoid passersby(躲避路人), speed up, slow down, stop at bus stops, change roads and deal with(处理;应对) traffic lights.
The bus is developed under a smart bus system. The key technology used in the selfdriving bus is a device with a laser beam(激光束)in front of the bus. It allows the bus to make a 3D map of the environment. It also lets the bus “know” how far it is from other things and people.
The bus also uses sensors, as well as radar. This way, the bus can “see” far enough to deal with traffic. There is a camera near the backview mirror. It helps the bus “see” traffic lights. And the bus also has builtin GPS, which gives it an exact position.
All of these technologies make the bus safe on the road, according to experts. But some people still doubt whether the buses can successfully deal with emergency situations.
64. The selfdriving buses can do the following automatically EXCEPT(除了)____.
A. change its speed
B. avoid people on the crossing
C. stop at the bus stations
D. tell the driver to operate the bus
65. What does the device with a laser beam help the bus do?

B. It allows the bus to make a 3D map of the environment.
C. It lets the bus know its speed and give an exact position.
D. It helps the bus to deal with some emergency situations.
66. Which of the following statements is TRUE according to the passage?

67. Which of the following devices lets the bus see traffic lights?
A. The builtin GPS. B. The sensors.
C. The camera. D. The radar.
