Passage 1
If you think you are too shy and want to be a little outgoing, try the following. You can make it.
Be open to others. Tell people you are shy. There is no need to hide it. When they get to know that you are a shy kid, they’ll understand you better. This also helps you feel more comfortable in talks.
Try to smile more. When you smile, people think you are friendly and easy to talk to. Remember that other people have feelings, too. Most people will stay away from an angry face.
Talk to others first. If you find it hard to start a conversation, say something nice about people around you. Think about how great you feel when someone says something nice to you. Doesn’t it make you want to keep talking to those people?
Turn your attention to somewhere else. Think more about ways to enjoy parties or the games. Don’t worry about your looks or whether people like you or not. You will become relaxed and find it isn’t so hard to talk with others.
Encourage yourself. Each time when you say “hi” or smile at someone, say to yourself “You did it”. Keep trying and one day you’ll never feel shy when you talk to others.

“Everything happens for the best,” my mother said whenever things weren’t going my way. “Don’t worry. One day your luck will change.”
I found Mum was right after I finished my college education. I had decided to try for a job in a radio station. I wanted to host a sports program one day. I went to Chicago and knocked at the door of every station. But I got turned down every time.
In one station, a kind lady said my problem was that I hadn’t got enough experience.“Get some work in a small station and work your way up,” she said.
I went back home. I couldn’t get a job there, either. I felt really down.“Your luck will change,” Mum said to me. I tried another radio station in Lowa. But the owner told me he had already had someone. As I left his office, I asked, “How can someone be a sports announcer(播音员) if he can’t get a job in a radio station?”
I was waiting for the lift when I heard the man called, “What did you mean? Do you know anything about football?” He put me in front of a microphone(麦克风) and asked me to try to imagine that I was giving my opinion on a football game. I succeeded.
On my way home, Mum’s words came back to me, “One day your luck will change, son. And when it happens, you’ll feel doubly(更加,越发) good because of all the hard work you’ve done.” At that moment, I knew just what she meant.

Ⅲ.回答问题
The next time you sit down to a delicious dinner, ask yourself, “How much food will I be able to eat?” If you think about only taking as much food as you can eat, it will help cut down waste. Every day, plenty of food goes uneaten and turns into rubbish. This is very sad when we consider that many people can’t even afford to have one meal every day. The problem of waste happens all over the world. People often want more than what they really need.
The most important thing for us to remember is to be friendly to the environment. Only take as much food as you can eat, buy things in environmentally friendly packaging such as paper or cardboard, and leave rubbish in its proper place. If every person could cut down waste, even just a little, the whole effect(效果) would be great.
Rubbish and waste can be a big problem in large cities. If rubbish or food is left in the streets in our city, it can make the city dirty and may also lead to a bad smell in the streets. We should try our best to solve this problem and make our city more beautiful. In the way, we will feel more comfortable living in the city.
19.How many suggestions are given to us to protect the environment in Paragraph 2?(不超过5个词)
20.According to the passage, what problem happens all over the world?(不超过5个词)
21.What will happen if we leave the rubbish or food in the streets in our city?(不超过20个词)
