II.Famousmusicians:JosephHaydn(1732-1809)wasanAustriancomposerandisknownas“thefatherofthesymphony”.OthercomposershadwrittensymphoniesbeforeHaydn,buthechangedthesymphonyintoalongpieceforalargeorchestra. HewasborninavillageinAustria,thesonofapeasant.Hehadabeautifulsingingvoice.AfterstudyingmusicinVienna,HaydnwenttoworkatthecourtofaprinceineasternAustria,wherehebecamedirectorofmusic.Havingworkedtherefor30years,HaydnmovedtoLondon,wherehewasverysuccessful.WolfgangAmadeusMozart(1756-1791)wasacomposer,possiblythegreatestmusicalgeniusofalltime.Heonlylived35yearsandhecomposedmorethan600piecesofmusic. MozartwasborninSalzburg,Austria.HisfatherLeopoldwasamusicianandorchestraconductor.Wolfganghadmusicaltalentfromaveryearlyage.HelearnedtoplaytheharpsichordinaconcertfortheEmpressofAustria.
