You're probably feeling excited and maybe a little sad that summer is over. Some kids feel nervous or a little scared(害怕的) on the first day of school because of all the new things: new teachers, new friends, and even a new school. Luckily, these "new" worries only stay for a little while. Let's find out more about going to a new ‎ school.      Most teachers kick off the new school year by introducing themselves and talking about all the things you'll be doing that year. Some teachers give students a chance to tell something about themselves to the rest of the class, too. When teachers do the talking on the first day, they often go over classroom rules and school rules so you'll know what's allowed and what's not. Please pay close attention.      You might already know a lot of people in your class on the first day, but it's a great day to make new friends, so try to say hello to kids you know and new ones that you don't. Make the first move and you'll be glad you did, and so will your new friends!      Seeing old friends can make the first day an exciting one. You can make the day special by wearing clothes that you really like. Maybe you got a great T-shirt on one of your vacations, or a pair of shoes. It also can make you feel good to be prepared and have all the things you need, such as pencils, folders, and whatever else you'll be needing. But make sure that you pack (打包) them the night before in case you don't have time in the morning.‎ ‎5. The underlined phrase "kick off" in the second paragraph probably means "_____". ‎ A. Discuss B. Experience C. Welcome D. Start ‎6. How do you probably feel If you happen to see an old friend on the first day of school?‎ A. Nervous.  B. Lucky.  C. Happy.  D. Upset.‎ ‎7. What does the last paragraph mainly talk about ?‎ A. What to know about a new school. B. How to prepare for a new school.  C. What to do on your first day of school. D. How to make friends on your first day of school. ‎ ‎8. According to the passage you usually do everything on the first day of school except _____. ‎ A. Introduce yourself.  B. Learn about the school rules.  C. Make new friends.  D. Go over your new lessons. ‎ C ‎ If you have to attend a party or other social events where a lot of people will be present, do you feel confident that you will make a good impression on others? Or do you feel shy? In any case, you should increase your confidence at social events.‎ ‎  Whenever you are meeting new people at any social event, you should wear proper clothes. Before you attend the event, try to find out how other people will be dressing. If everyone else is wearing business clothes, you should, too. If the event is informal, you should wear informal clothes so that you fit in.‎ ‎   If you are going to meet people from a certain business or profession(行业), try looking through a few professional magazines or checking on the Internet ahead of time to get some conversation ideas which are related to their fields of interest. This can prevent you getting tongue-tied at the event.‎ ‎  When you are at the event, don’t worry about whether or not other people you are talking with like you. Instead, try your best to find reasons to like them.‎ ‎  When you are making conversation with people, be sure to keep good eye contact, and make your facial expression soft. Nod to show you’re listening. Let your face and body relax so that you can make natural gestures.‎ ‎  After the event is over, take a bit of time to think of your social performance and the conversation you had with people. Tell yourself exactly what you did very well at the event. For example, perhaps you made a big effort to really listen to the people you were talking with, or you may have asked several people some good questions that really got them talking. By doing so, your conversation confidence will gradually improve.‎ ‎9. What should you avoid in a social event according to the 4th paragraph?‎ ‎ A. Caring much about what others think of you ‎ ‎ B. Ignoring eye contact with others C. Wearing informal clothes and shoes D. Attending a party with your good friends 10.After coming back from a social party, we need to form the habit of _____.‎ ‎ A.
