As the boat moved over the waves, I thought back eleven years to my first island visit via a cruise ship. As we landed, I noticed a sign advertising swimming with dolphins. I looked at my mother; she knew exactly what I wanted, but I was too young. “Maybe some other time,” she said. I think everyone knows that those four words usually translate to never. It made me, a little boy, depressed for many days. From that day on, it was my dream to swim with those gentle creatures.‎ Now, after 15 minutes of travelling, we reached the Sanctuary Bay. As we arrived, I saw the gray creatures showing off their unique talent before my eyes. We were led off the boat, past a back building. Our guide told us we would have the pleasure of spending the next 90 minutes with Kaholo, a young male, and Robola, the largest female, who is quite famous for having played the lead in the film Zeus and Roxanne.‎ My father and I were joined by four others and followed the man once more. He told us to jump into the water while he let the dolphins into that part of the bay. For the first 20 minutes, we could go anywhere and touch the dolphins as they swam by.‎ Kaholo and Robola must have known I was their biggest fan because they swam towards me as if I had had fish. After the introductory period, they jumped over our heads. I got a hug and kiss from Robola, and also learned how to have Kaholo talk to me.‎ This was by far the most magical experience of my life. Next time your parents say “Maybe some other day”, have faith in them. Your dreams are important to them too, and they will do whatever they can to make it possible, because dreams can come true.‎ ‎21. How did the author feel after the first island visit?‎ A. Unhappy. B. Puzzled. C. Excited. D. Energetic.‎ ‎22. What did Kaholo and Robola do during the visit?‎ A. They stayed away from the author.‎ B. They learnt to have a talk to the author.‎ C. They had special interest in the author’s fish.‎ D. They showed a friendly attitude towards the author.‎ ‎23. What’s the best title for the text?‎ A. My Parents’ Promise B. Play with Dolphins C. Dreams Do Come True D. The First Island Visit B Dear Sir,‎ It is not often that a woman can thank personally the inventor of devices that make life livable for her. I feel that it is my duty to tell you how much we women of this small town owe a lot of thanks to you. I am an officer in the District Women’s Club and my husband is a doctor.‎ We have a large house so as I do practically all my own housework, my duties are many. Still, ‎ I enjoy my housework and do not feel that I entirely lose out on life’s pleasures. Right now, I hear my washing machine chugging (洗衣机运转声音). The house is lighted by electricity. I cook on an electric stove and wash dishes in an electric dishwasher. I clean the house with electric cleaners. When I rest, I take an electric massage(按摩). I forget I’m living in a tiny town. But I’m reminded when the automatic alarm in my stove rings and know my dinner is now cooking.‎ The doctor comes home. He finds a wife not tired and dissatisfied. Instead, he sees a woman waiting, who has worked faithfully. She is now rested and ready to serve the tired man and discuss things of the day. Possibly he brings home a guest without warning, but electricity saves the day for the hostess.‎ Please accept my appreciation, Mr. Edison, from the most truly grateful of women. I know you must have received the thanks of other women before but I believe men are like women after all and like to know that their work is appreciated. I do think the world is often not thankful enough for such work and the value of it.‎ Sincerely.‎ Mrs. W. C. Lathrop ‎24. What can we learn about the author?‎ A. She is badly in debt. B. The house is affected by power cuts. ‎ D. The woman likes doing housework.‎ ‎26. What’s the author’s purpose of writing this letter?‎ A. To give a reply. B. To make an apology.‎ C. To express her thanks. D. To ask for help.‎ c The dangers of sitting all day are obvious. Researchers have shown that remaining sitting for extended periods of time (like at your 9-to-5 desk job) can do harm to your health. While exercise is a big part of reducing the harmful effects of sitting, it was unclear how many gym periods were ‎ needed to help – until now.‎ A new study, published in The Lancet, shows the ideal formula for reducing the negative effects of a sedentary(久坐的)job. Instead of a fixed number of hours spent exercising, the ratio(比率)depends on how much you sit: people who work a typical eight-hour day should spend at least one hour each day moving. If you sit six hours a day, you should spend half an hour exercising. The research also indicates that the exercise doesn’t have to be all once – or rigorous(严格的). It can be spread throughout the day and be as simple as walking.‎ The team behind the study analyzed data from a pool of a million adults over the age of 45 in Western Europe, the United States, and Australia. Using previous data, the researches examined data from 16 published studies and used it to determine how much exercise is required to compensate for sitting. Their recommended daily exercise goal is higher than previous advice but not necessarily less achievable, given it can be completed throughout the day.‎ Fitting in an hour of exercise a day sounds especially discouraging if you have a desk job, but there are plenty of workouts you can complete before and after work. Even if it means taking a 10-minute walk during lunch, your body will thank you in the long run.‎ ‎27. The underlined words “compensate for” can be best replaced by ________.‎ A. give up B. break away from C. make up for D. take the place of ‎28. According to the new study, good news for the people working long hours at desk is that ________.‎ A. the time spent on exercise is flexible B. the harm of sitting for long has been proved C. workouts may reduce the harm of sitting for long D. they don’t have to exercise as long as suggested previously ‎ ‎29. What can be inferred from the article?‎ A. The new exercise goal is practical though higher.‎ B. The longer you exercise, the better.‎ C. The best form of workouts is walking.‎ D. A desk job makes it impossible to exercise regularly.‎ ‎30. The second paragraph is developed mainly ________.‎ A. by process B. by example C. by comparison D. by contrast 第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)‎ 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。‎ How to stay focused in class Being relaxed during class is a bad habit, and it is also bad to your grade. Focusing in class not only proves to teachers that you are a capable student but also shows that you have the ability to control yourself, which will be very important.‎ ‎ 31 No matter how much you want to sit with your friends during the class, try your best to avoid them. Talking with friends around you is not going to give you the focus in class. This will get you into trouble.‎ Look at teacher and make eye contact. Your teacher is not just standing up there talking. 32 Show the teacher that he or she has your full attention by looking them in the eye. This person should have your full attention at all times during class.‎ Take notes. By taking notes, you’ll be able to “get into” the lesson. Write down key points as your teacher speaks. And listen to the key phrases such as “This is important” “This is the main idea” “This will be the test” etc. 33 ‎ Get involved in class discussions. This is a wonderful way to become a more focused, successful student. When a teacher asks a question, offer to answer it. 34 This shows the teacher that you are listening carefully during the class.‎ ‎ Ask a question. 35 This really shows your teacher that you want to be better, and can recognize the things you are having difficulty with. Chances are that someone else in the class has the same question (and was too afraid to ask!). They’ll be relieved, and so will you. ‎ A.Avoid sitting with friends.‎ B. This can help you listen more attentively.‎ C. If he or she ask for an opinion, share your own.‎ D. Talking with friends makes you lose interest in class.‎ E. He or she is trying to give you an acceptable education.‎ F. The more quickly you answer, the more attention you pay.‎ G. If you don’t understand something, never be afraid to ask.‎ 第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分45分)‎ 第一节 完形填空(共20小题;每小题1.5分,满分30分)‎ 阅读下面短文,从短文后各题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项,并在答题纸上将该项涂黑。‎ How did you do it, Dad? Thanks to the Internet,‎ ‎ many people prefer to send e-mails rather than mail letters using the postal system. Young people entering the working world today find themselves sending and replying to hundreds of business related e-mails every week. However, many of these same young people don’t seem to know some basic rules when it comes to sending e-mails at work. Most of the people said they didn’t check their spelling or punctuation (标点) before hitting “send”. Even more surprising was that 5% of them said they sometimes end e-mails to their boss with the words “love and kisses!” While this is fine for personal messages to friends and loved ones, it is normally considered improper in work place. The main reason for this use of informal language in workplace e-mail is that a lot of young people have always communicated with others on the Internet—especially using e-mails—in a relaxed and friendly manner. For many people, online communication outside of work, such as talking with others in chat rooms, posting on message boards, and sending e-mail to friends, is usually for fun. Another reason is that young people now are unfamiliar with how to write formal letters, because they have never had to write a formal letter before. They have had no training in how to write a basic business letter, and are unaware of the style and language that should, and should not, be used. With more business letters now being conducted using the Internet than ever before, it is important for people to be aware of the differences in language use between personal and business communication—especially when using e-mails. So next time you send an e-mail at the office, remember you’re not just online, you’re at work.‎ ‎_____________________________________________________________________________‎ ‎______________________________________________________________________________‎ ‎_____________________________________________________________________________‎ ‎______________________________________________________________________________‎ 高一年级下学期3月月考英语试题答案 听力:1-5ACABC     6-10 BABCB    11-15 ABCAB  16-20CBAAC 阅读:(A) 21〜23 ADC (B) 24-26CDC (C)27-30.CAAB 七选五: 31.A 32.
