What makes a family? How do family members get along with each other? Japanese director Hirokazu Koreeda tries to answer these questions in his films.
His latest film, Shoplifters, is about his favorite topic-family relations. With this film, Koreeda won this year’s Palme d’Or(金棕榈奖), the Cannes Film Festival’s top honor.
Shoplifters tells the story of a poor family living in Tokyo. Three generations living under the same roof survive by stealing from local shops.
Obviously, what they are doing is wrong. But the director focuses more on the heartwarming details of the family’s daily life, according to The Playlist. Koreeda shows how the family members love and support each other. For example, the family plans a beach trip for the youngest sister. They carefully pick out swimwear for the girl. At the beach, they play happily. The girl draws a picture to help her remember their time together. This causes viewers to forget about their moral judgments(道德审判).
This is another feature of Koreeda’s filming style. He is good at presenting ordinary life. It’s slow and full of small details-sometimes it’s even boring. But there is tension(冲突)present as well. In Shoplifters, the surprise is that the family members don’t actually have blood ties to each other, but they are still closer than a real family. They all have their own stories.
In Japan and most other Asian countries, blood ties are what defines(定义)family. But Koreeda questions that by looking at different kinds of relations.
24.How does the family in the Shoplifters make a living?
A.By drawing pictures.
B.By working in local shops.
C.By stealing from the local stores.
D.By begging from neighbors.
25.What is the feature of Koreeda’s filming style?
A.No tension present at all.
B.Being full of small boring details.
C.Focusing on the hard time of poor families.
D.Showing ordinary life through the details of daily life.
26.What does Koreeda want to show us in the movie?
A.The meaning of a family.
B.How to get long with our families.
C.The ordinary life in a Japanese family.
D.The different relationship in a poor family.
27.What is the passage mainly about?
A.Family relations.
B.Features of Koreeda’s films.
C.A famous Japanese director.
D.A film directed by Koreeda.

Father’s Day in the USA is celebrated on the third Sunday of June. On this day people honor their father and express thanks for his love and care. As a Father’s Day tradition, people in the USA also show respect to their grandfather, stepfather, uncle or any other men who are like father.
History of Father’s Day in the USA
Father’s Day as we celebrate today comes from the United States of America. The idea of observing a day in honor of the father was put forward by Ms. Sonora Smart Dodd, a loving daughter from Spokane. It so happened that Sonora attended a Mother’s Day sermon(布道)in 1909 and she was struck with the idea that society must observe a day to honor the important contribution made by the father in the raising of children. Encouraged by the love of her father, William Smart, who was once a soldier in the Civil War and single-handedly raised her along with her five brothers after the death of her mother, Sonora worked hard to make her idea a reality. The idea of celebrating Father’s Day soon spread across the nation. Father’s Day was recognized by a Joint Resolution of Congress in 1956. Finally, in 1972 President Nixon established(确定)Father’s Day as a national day on the third Sunday of June.
Father’s Day Celebrations in the USA
Father’s Day celebrations in the USA take place with lots of fun and excitement. The day is also thought of a time for family reunions in families, children who are staying away from families take time out to celebrate the day with their father. Over the years, Brian Wansink, director of the Food and Brand Lab at Cornell University, has studied such things as how far Americans typically drive to buy food, how many times we refill
our plates at all-you-can-eat buffets and how we organize our kitchens. In the mid-2000s he famously coined the phrase “mindless eating”(and wrote a book by that name)to focus attention on all the bad dietary decisions we make without really thinking about them.
His new book, Slim by Design: Mindless Eating Solutions for Everyday Life, aims to change the design of restaurants, school lunchrooms, office cafeterias and homes so that the mindless choices we make will be more healthful ones. Some examples:
Keep kitchen counters clear. No visible snack food, no bread, no nuts-not even breakfast cereal. In Wansink’s research, “women who had even one box of breakfast cereal that was visible-anywhere in their kitchen-weighed 21 pounds more than their neighbor who didn’t.”
Trick yourself into drinking less wine. “We tend to focus on the height of what we pour and not the width, so we pour 12 percent less wine into taller wineglasses than we pour into wider wineglasses.” And the shape of the glass is not the only variable that affects how much we drink. Wansink writes: “Because red wine is easier to see than white wine, we pour 9 percent less red wine whenever we pour a glass.”
Wansink said his researchers also found that people ate less at restaurants when sat in well-lighted areas near windows and doors, than in darker areas or in the back. They ate less if they were offered a doggie bag, or to-go box, before they got their meals: apparently the idea of getting a “free” second meal outweighed the impulse(冲动)to clean their plates. Fruits and vegetables kept on the top shelf of the refrigerator were eaten at higher rates than those on lower shelves.
32.Why did Brian Wansink write Slim by Design: Mindless eating Solutions for Everyday Life?
A.Because he wanted people to become thin.
B.Because he intended to help people make more healthful dietary decision.
C.Because he hoped to coin a new phrase “mindless eating”.
D.Because he wished to change the design of dining places.
33.According to Wansink, which of the following affects the amount of wine we drink .
A.the shape of wineglasses
B.the color of wineglasses
C.the taste of wine
D.the quality of wine
34.The underlined phrase a “doggie bag” in paragraph 5 probably means .
A.a bag for carrying
B.a box for takeaway food
C.a bag for carrying dog food
D.a container for leftovers
35.What’s the main idea of the passage?
A.Changing environment or habits of eating will help you eat less.
B.Eating fruits and vegetables is better for your health.
C.Keeping your kitchen counter clear of any food will help make you thin.
D.Many people eat or drink too much without paying attention to it.
There’s nothing worse than sitting next to someone whose breath smells bad. In ancient China, people used to eat a special plant to make their breath smell better. 36
How your breath smells says a lot about your health. Scientists can now tell whether or not somebody has a disease just from a simple breath test.
37 Breath is made up of waste chemicals(化学物质)that the body makes, Scientists from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology found that these chemicals are different for each person. In fact, they’re just like fingerprints(指纹)-that’s why scientists sometimes call them “breathprints”.
Compared to other kinds of tests, a breath test is much quicker. 38
Breath tests are also a lot easier to do than regular tests, as people only need to blow into a special machine. 39 It has been useful in finding early signs of problems such as stomach cancer.
40 And hopefully some day, visits to the hospital will be a quicker and easier for everyone.
A.How does it work?
B.Now we use gum instead.
C.This machine will help to test their breath.
D.It’s much cheaper to do a breath test than other tests.

Don’t put off the simple 58 that life can bring. Don’t put off the beautiful love that you can give. And 59 your love with everyone. You will be amazed at how wonderful 60 will be when you “Live to Love” while you “Work to Live”.

Text 10
M: I am so glad to be invited to your school to discuss about English study. Today I’d like to talk about English listening and English study. First, I want to ask you a few questions: What do you have to do before you can speak? What does a child learn before he talks? What do we do before we chat? Listen, of course.
It is natural that children always begin to listen to their parents when they are babies. They are often greeted, spoken to and are admired by their parents without any response expected. Though nobody knows whether the baby understands the spoken words or not, the course continues. And in this way children pick up such language over some time, and later on gradually produce it through their own actual experience when they are growing up.
In learning English, listening can help improve speaking greatly. A good English learner must be a good listener first. Although it is the first of all skills, it is neither the easiest nor the most meaningless. We need to hear different types of English repeatedly and continuously if we want to communicate properly, fluently and naturally.

Father’s Day in the USA这个题目紧扣了文章内容。

承接上下文,A项How does it work?(它是如何工作的?) 故选A。
Instead of taking hours, it only takes a few minutes(它只需要几分钟,而不是几个小时)切题。
This machine will help to test their breath(这台机器将有助于测试他们的呼吸)切题。
Now, scientists are trying to use breath tests as much as they can(现在,科学家们正试图尽可能多地使用呼吸测试)切题。故选G。
