I had one of those moments yesterday. I believe this was triggered(引起)by the oldie The Impossible Dream that was playing on the radio yesterday afternoon!‎ In 1971, returning from our regular Friday night pregame meeting, I had no sooner walked in the door of our three-room apartment hack than the phone rang. It was the township police. They inquired if I was the football coach. I answered yes and asked if there was a problem. He said our football team had climbed the fence of the township football field and were sitting somewhere around the 50-yard line quietly. It was really not a problem. However, he thought I would like to know. I called my assistants, and made our way to the field.‎ We met the police at the locked gate. The field was dark and silent. Then, suddenly, we heard voices singing—together and on key—the team theme song, The Impossible Dream. Silently, we ‎ listened and became overwhelmed(压倒)with emotion. Even the policemen had tears rolling down their cheeks. When the team had finished, they walked slowly to the now-opened gate of the field and were shocked to see us waiting there. Of course, our first words were, "What is going on?"‎ Mike Bernert, the team captain, replied, "Well, coach, you told us to visualize our performance in our mind just before the night of the game. So we came and visualized the upcoming game while sitting on the 50-yard line. Afterward, we would sing The Impossible Dream.”‎ The coaches and I were overwhelmed. And of course, the team, which was undefeated at this point, never lost a game that season.‎ ‎21.What does the underlined word “tingly” in Paragraph 1 mean?‎ A. Frightened. B. Worried.‎ C. Excited. D. Puzzled.‎ ‎22.Why did the police call?‎ A. The team had conflicts with fans.‎ B. The team did something unusual.‎ C. The team locked themselves in the football field.‎ D. The team damaged the fences of the playground.‎ ‎23.How did the team feel when they saw the author and the policeman?‎ A. Happy. B. Surprised.‎ C. Ashamed. D. Sad.‎ ‎24.What is the purpose for the team to sing the song?‎ A. To enjoy themselves. B. To rest themselves.‎ C. To celebrate their success. D. To inspire themselves.‎ B At just 40 years old, hip-hop star Kasseem Dean, more popularly known as Swizz Beatz, has amassed (积累)a track record, lifestyle and nearly $ 70 million net worth that would inspire most of us to retire early. So why does Dean continue to both work extremely hard and try projects that come with the risk of rejection?‎ During our interview for Uncommon Drive, a video series for USA & Main that seeks to find ‎ out the motivations and magic of world-class business people, Dean provided a memorable answer: “You only have so much time — once it’s gone you don’t get it back. Don’t focus on money; focus on building something greater than yourself. If you’re not making history, you’re wasting your time on Earth.”‎ When you look at his answer, you will learn two important lessons. The first is in “making history”. Doing so requires awareness. You must fully understand what has and has not been achieved in the market you’ve entered. Dean makes every effort with the goal of creating something important that has not been done before and will be remembered for its impact beyond his years.‎ The second part of his statement is just as powerful. In this interview, he never once said he is “trying” to make history. Instead, he has told himself that no matter what difficulty there is, it’s just going to happen. “I’m going to make history.” Dean said. ‎ After talking to Dean for nearly 45 minutes, it was clear to me that he has removed all ego(自我)from a statement that might otherwise be misread as false pride. I believe it’s a brilliant hack — rather than focus on all the reasons why a project can’t be realized, he has convinced himself of the possibility.‎ ‎25.What is the function of the first paragraph?‎ A. To lead to the main topic.‎ B. To describe a star’s success.‎ C. To express admiration for a star.‎ D. To explain the meaning of success.‎ ‎26.What motivates Dean to continue to work hard?‎ A. His desire to be famous.‎ B. His wish to be wealthy.‎ C. His adventurous spirit and imagination.‎ D. His life goal to leave his mark on history.‎ ‎27. What can we learn about Dean in the interview?‎ A. He takes a pride in his work.‎ B. He can predict the possibility.‎ C. He always believes in himself.‎ D. He gets prepared for his career.‎ ‎28. What’s the title of the text?‎ A. How does Kasseem Dean face rejection?‎ B. What makes Kasseem Dean work hard?‎ C. How does Kasseem Dean make history?‎ D. Why doesn’t Kasseem Dean want to retire?‎ C Did you ever wonder why you have no memory of when you were a baby or very young child? The question of why adults do not remember how they learned to walk or talk has long been a mystery. Researchers at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in the United States are looking into this question.‎ The study contained computer-based tests. The tests were designed to work like games. They were given to 32 four-year-olds, 32 six-year-olds and 50 young adults. The tests measured the memory process that helps people recognize differences between experiences. For example: A walk with your dog when you saw a friend, and a different walk without your dog or when you did not see your friend. ‎ The second test was showing the children and young adults taking the test a number of photographs. They were asked to compare the first group of photos with a second set of pictures. Sometimes, the two sets of photos were the same. But other times, they were different.‎ The results showed that in both tests, six-year-olds showed far better memory than four-year-olds. That might help explain why adults do not remember when they learned to walk or talk, but they do remember their third, fourth or fifth birthdays.‎ ‎“We don’t have any memories in the first two years of life, and all of a sudden we’re able to form these memories for something going on in early childhood or middle childhood. That’s very interesting,” said Zoe Ngo.‎ Researchers said doing some research on the memory is of great value as doctors are trying to develop a cure for Alzheimer’s disease. People with the disease suffer memory loss. For some people, memory loss is just for recent events. People may not remember what they did that morning, but remember experiences from 50 years ago. But memory loss research is not limited to helping patients with Alzheimer’s disease. It could also help find ways to get better and more ‎ reliable information about how to improve people’s memory.‎ ‎29. What do the researchers draw their attention to?‎ A. Why people fail to complete simple tasks.‎ B. Why people cannot recall their first few years of life.‎ C. Why people find it hard to learn special memory skills.‎ D. Why people have trouble forgetting past painful experiences.‎ ‎30. What is the purpose of the second test?‎ A. To check how people remember differences in objects.‎ B. To explain why people have better memory than before.‎ C. To prove when people show interest in beautiful pictures.‎ D. To show where people would like to take different photos.‎ ‎31. What can we infer from what Zoe Ngo said?‎ A. People are willing to share good old days.‎ B. People are likely to remember past special events.‎ C. People are afraid of getting unexpected bad results.‎ D. People are more concerned about their happy childhood.‎ ‎32. What does the last paragraph mainly discuss?‎ A. The way to deal with memory loss.‎ B. The importance of memory research.‎ C. The possibility of collecting information.‎ D. The measures to prevent Alzheimer’s disease. ‎ 第二节 (共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)‎ 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。‎ Interruptions are one of the worst things to deal with while you’re trying to get work done. 33 ,there are several ways to handle things.Let’s take a look at them now.‎ ‎ 34 .Tell the person you’re sorry and explain that you have a million things to do and then ask if the two of you can talk at a different time.‎ When people try to interrupt you, have set hours planned and let them know to come back during that time or that you’ll find them then. 35 .It can help to eliminate(消除) future ‎ interruptions.‎ When you need to talk to someone, don’t do it in your own office. 36 ,it’s much easier to excuse yourself to get back to your work than if you try to get someone out of your space even after explaining how busy you are If you have a door to your office, make good use of it. 37 .If someone knocks and it’s not an important matter. excuse yourself and let the person know you’re busy so they can get the hint(暗示) than when the door is closed, you’re not to be disturbed.‎ A.If you’re busy, don’t feel bad about saying no B.
