In other words, you need to be fully aware of the items you’re not allowed to bring before you travel abroad.‎ ‎ Obscene(淫秽)and pirated(盗版)materials ‎ In many Western countries, possessing and transporting underage porn(黄色书刊)is considered a serious crime. According to the United States Department of Justice, a first time offender(冒犯者) charged with producing child porn faces fines and 15 to 30 years in prison. Through these conversation, they struck up a friendship.‎ One morning, Elvis saw a news article about a man in Oakland who has been making tiny houses out of discarded material. He was inspired to put off paying a few bills so he could buy the lumber and hardware to make Smokie a brand new shelter. It took him five days to build, and now, for the first time in ten years, Smokie has a place to hang the sign, “Home Sweet Home.”‎ I had nowhere to really build it, so I just built it in the street outside of my apartment,” he told Good News Network. “The local LAPD cops have been super cool, and have told me they support it–as long as we move it to a different spot every 72 hours.”‎ He made this nifty time-lapse(延时的) video showing how he did it. The materials, including two locks on the front door and sturdy wheels for moving it around, cost him about $500.‎ ‎“I’ve met so many homeless people, good people,” Elvis said in an email. “Since I built Smokie’s, I’ve had several people ask me to make them a tiny home and it’s turned into much more than just the one house I wanted to build.”‎ Although he runs an online retail store that sells EDM apparel, he decided to launch an ambitious project to fund more shelters. He plans to get lighter and cheaper materials—without sacrificing the strength of the house—for the next round. Rick Sassen, a branch manager, kindly donated the roof shingles and cedar siding for Smokie’s house, final items Elvis couldn’t afford on his own. People line up long queues for a unique experience inside the pavilion in spite of hot sun or rain.‎ The pavilions have been frequently found in more places across the country after first appearing in Beijing, and were at first inspired by the new CCTV program “Readers”, which was first broadcast in February. However, what's so amazing about the little room inside the pavilion?‎ Aimed at inviting more people to show their talent in reading beautiful literature with interesting stories of everyday lives, citizens can record themselves reading and each person is allowed to read into the microphone for three minutes. The best readers will have a chance to appear on the CCTV program.‎ Many people from different age groups and professional backgrounds were seen to queue up for hours to read their favorite literature, with some of them stopping by even before it opened. Seniors and the disabled were given priority.‎ The opening time in Shanghai was said to be as long as nine hours, and it even lasted for another three days because of the unexpected crowds. Zhou Deming, the associate librarian of Shanghai Library, wished the atmosphere could last longer and said,“The TV program will be over one day, but the joyfulness and inspiration of reading will always continue in people's everyday lives.”‎ Many attractive lines and poems among China's literature were brought up by these book-lovers, including “Saying Good-bye to Cambridge Again” by Xu Zhimo. “It's totally okay if it doesn't make me step on to the stage of CCTV,” said Liu Yan, a citizen in line. “I'm here just to read.”‎ The reading pavilion has now moved to Xi'an, capital of Shaanxi Province, which is said to last about half a month for locals to walk in. With all those messages, I have no desire to respond to even a small part of them.‎ Last year, Royal Pingdom, which monitors Internet usage, said that in 2010, 107 trillion e-mails were sent. A report this year from the Radicati Group, a market research firm, found that in 2015, there were 3.1 billion active e-mail accounts in the world. The report noted that, on average, company employees sent and received 105 e-mails a day. Sure, some of those e-mails are important. But 105 a day?‎ All of this has led me to believe that something is terribly wrong with e-mail. What's more, I don't believe it can be fixed. I've tried everything. Priority mail, filters, more filters, filters within filters, away messages, third-party e-mail tools. None of these supposed solutions work.‎ Last year, I decided to try to reach In-box Zero, the Zen-like state of a consistently empty in-box. I spent countless hours one evening replying to neglected(忽略) massages. I woke up the next morning to find that most of my replies had received replies, and so, once again, my in-box has filled. It all felt like one big practical joke.‎ Meanwhile, all of this e-mail could be increasing our stress. A research found that people who did not look at e-mail regularly at work were less stressed and more productive than others. Gloria Mark, an informatics professor who studies the effects of e-mail and multitasking in the workplace, said, “One person in our e-mail study told us later: I let the sound of the bell and pop-ups rule my life.‎ Ms. Mark says one of the main problems with e-mail is that there isn't an off switch. “E-mail is an asynchronous(异步的) technology, so you don't need to be on it to receive a message,” she said. “Synchronous(同步的) technologies, like instant messenger(即时通讯), depend on people being present.” Although some people allow their instant messenger services to save offline messages, most cannot receive massages if they are not logged on(登陆). With e-mail, it is different. If you go away, e-mails piles up waiting for your return.‎ Avoiding new message is as impossible as trying to play a game of hide-and-seek in an empty New York City studio apartment. There is nowhere to hide.‎ ‎32.What does the author mean by saying “But 105 a day?”?‎ ‎ A.Some e-mails should be sent by cell phone. B.Only 105 e-mails are really important.‎ ‎ C.Some e-mails are not important at all. D.Not all e-mails should be neglected.‎ ‎33.How does the author think of his way of dealing with his neglected e-mails?‎ A.He thinks of it as an admiring and efficient way.‎ B.He finds it disappointing and useless.‎ C.He regards it as a fast but useless way.‎ D.He sees it as a slow but exciting way.‎ ‎34.What is the biggest problem of e-mails at present?‎ A.All people in the world love to send e-mails at present.‎ B.Even companies prefer employees to send e-mails.‎ C.We can’t completely control whether to receive them.‎ D.Not all netizens understand the importance of e-mails.‎ ‎35.What is the best title for the passage?‎ A.Gone with the Wind, My Dear Internet! B.Life's Too Short for So Many E-Mails.‎ C.Who Is to Blame for a Clear Internet? D.I Love You, E-mails, but Goodbye!‎ 第二节 (共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分) ‎ How to Become an Activist Activists are people who see the need for change and devote their time to doing something about it. 36 If you are interested in it you can do so.‎ ‎ 37 . Some of our earliest memories are from our families offering guidance and support. As we grow in both age or intelligence, our parents teach us more about the society. There has a time when we young people believe that our parents should stop offering their advices and stop acting as teachers. We may start to think that we know much about the world than our parents. Perhaps we believe their opinions and ideas were out of date. We are now standing at the top of a great pyramid, wait to take turns to lead society in this century. Besides, we should remember our parents represent the foundation of that great pyramid. You know it's just impossible for me to do as well in them as in English.‎ ‎(Text 3)‎ W: What's the forecast for tomorrow?‎ M: I think it said it's going to be quite dark and cloudy in the morning, but it might brighten up later.‎ W: Well, so long as it doesn't rain. I'm going on a picnic tomorrow with Judith and Peter.‎ ‎(Text 4)‎ M: Mom, which day do you think would be the best day for me to plan a charity dinner party? The term's nearly over — it ends on January 26th.‎ W: Well, when will the last examination be held?‎ M: Most of the exams finish this Friday, but there are some music exams that go on until the 23rd. That's next Monday.‎ W: I think you'd better wait until after that.‎ ‎(Text 5)‎ W:Aaaagh!‎ M: What are you shouting for? I haven't given you the injection yet.‎ W: Could you just give me some pills? I hate injections. They usually hurt and then they make me fall asleep.‎ M: Oh, this won't make you fall asleep. This will just freeze the area around the tooth so that you cannot feel any pain while I am pulling it out. That's all.‎ ‎(Text 6)‎ M: Okay. Let's have a look at her.‎ W:All right.‎ M: Ah, yes. I see ... well, it's very uncomfortable for the baby, and it certainly explains why she's been crying more than usual, but this is very common for babies.‎ W: Really?‎ M: Yes. A baby's skin is extremely sensitive. Tell me, have you changed brands of any of your baby products recently? You know, shampoo, soap, baby powder ... anything like that?‎ W: Uh ... well, I did start using a different baby powder a couple of weeks ago.‎ M: Hmm ... well, maybe you should try going back to the old one.‎ W: Okay.‎ M: And I'll give you some cream to put on her each time you bathe her. That should clear up her spots. Just don't let the cream get in her eyes, and try to keep her from touching her skin with her hands.‎ ‎(Text 7)‎ W: I'm really angry with you.‎ M: Why?‎ W: I got back from my trip last night, and the apartment was a total mess!‎ M: I'm sorry if you're upset. My friends came over at 7:00, and we left at 9:00 to go to a bar. I planned on cleaning up when I got back, but when I got back, you'd already cleaned everything up.‎ W: I got back at one. I don't know why you didn't clean up before you left. You know I can't stand being in a dirty apartment.‎ M: Honestly, I don't see the harm in leaving it for a while. My friends and I were a bit drunk, and it seemed wrong to make them wait for me to clean. I'm sorry.‎ ‎(Text 8)‎ M: Jane, could you review the results of the survey on sporting activities again? I'm planning out our proposal for today's business meeting. I think we should consider expanding our line of athletic shoes. Maybe we consider developing a new market — targeting sports clothes or equipment.‎ W: Sure, Sam. I've summarized the results, broken down by consumer age groups and sporting activities. The survey was carried out among people between the ages of 18 and 55, and the results have been organized in terms of the following age groups: 18-to-26, 27-to-35,‎ ‎36-to-45, and 46-to-55.‎ M: Okay.‎ W: People in the last two groups reported jogging as their favorite recreational sport followed by skiing, tennis, swimming, and cycling.‎ M: What about these groups broken down by gender?‎ W: Thanks for bringing that up. Men appear to be slightly more active than women in the 18-to-26 age group, but women seem more active in the other three groups.‎ M: I see.‎ ‎(Text 9)‎ M: Hi, Sara! Where are you going?‎ W: To the library. The professor told us to do some research for an art project today. The project is about a young artist called Will Scorsby, so I want to look up some information on the library computer.‎ M: Wow, I know him. He's a friend of my cousin, and I met him once at my cousin's home. He is an unusual artist. He doesn't use many different colors. You see green in all his paintings but the color he likes most is orange.‎ W: Who taught him to paint?‎ M: His mum was his first teacher. She draws pictures for children's books. Will's grandfather is an artist too. I'm sure Will learned a lot from him, too.‎ W: Where does Will work?‎ M: He's got his own room at home to work in. He draws and paints people's faces more than anything else. There's an online video where you can watch him paint a picture of his own face.‎ W:And does he sell his paintings?‎ M: Yes. He sold his first painting last winter but lots of people are buying them now. Next summer he'll have a big exhibition in the USA. I think he's going to be very famous.‎ ‎(Text 10)‎ Good morning!
