In the first paragraph, the author ________. 由文章第一段“Although they have not been issued for over 75 years”(虽然它 们已经 75 年未发行了。)及“Now they can be acquired for a limited time only”(现在只能在有 限的时间内获得它们。) 再根据“order a gigantic full Pound bag and you'll also receive a vintage Liberty Head Nickel”(订购 a gigantic full Pound bag 才会收到 Liberty Head Nickel)所以 Quarter Pound Buffalo Nickels 里不包括 Liberty Head Nickel,故选 C 项。 故选 A 项。 B Cruising along the long country road in my car, I was singing at the top of my lungs to help pass the time. It was just before midnight and I was making the two-hour journey to see my then-boyfriend, Richard, who lived two hours apart. Around 20 minutes in, I was driving down a straight stretch of road, when my steering wheel started jerking from side to side and the car shook violently. The wind is strong here, I thought. But when my car suddenly pulled to the other side of the road, the reality of what was happening dawned on me. I was in the middle of an earthquake! Situated between a mountain on one side and power lines on the other, I was far too scared to stop in case they came crashing down on top of me. Instead, I decided the safest option was to keep driving slowly. But, as the ground continued to shake beneath me, I grew more frightened by the second. When it finally stopped, I found a safe place to pull over and check my mobile for reception. But there was nothing. Shaken, I was desperate to make my way to the nearest town to find service as quickly as possible. Traveling at around 100km/h, I noticed a strange shadow on the road ahead. As I got closer, I realized the bridge in front of me had been removed from the road and had risen around 30 centimeters from the ground. I hit the brakes, but there was no way I could slow down in time. Crashing straight into the raised road, my car broke down finally. Pain tore through my neck and body. I got out and ran to safety on the other side of the road and screamed for help. But, alone in the dead of night, there was no one around to hear me. Thankfully, around 15 minutes later, I saw two headlights in the distance. 4. Why was the author driving on the country road? A. To pass the time. B. To meet her boyfriend. C. To break up with Richard. D. To escape from a natural disaster. 5. The author realized an earthquake happened ________. A. before the wind became strong B. after the steering wheel started jerking C. as soon as the car started to shake violently D. when her car pulled to the other side of the road 6. Why did the author keep driving after the earthquake happened? A. Because she was too panic to apply the brake. B. Because she tried to get out of the high-risk area. C. Because she wanted to contact the outside world for help. D. Because she was desperate to find service as soon as possible. 7. What would most probably happen to the author at last? A. She was rescued by others before long. B. She had to repair her car on her own. C. She waited in the dark for help but in vain. D. She warned other drivers of the raised road. B 5. D 6. B 7. 根据文章第一段“I was making the two-hour journey to see my then-boyfriend, Richard, who lived two hours apart.(我开车两小时去看我当时的男朋友,他住的地方离我有两 小时车程)”可知,作者驾车在乡村公路上是为了去看当时的男朋友,故选 B 项。 根据文章第二段“But when my car suddenly pulled to the other side of the road, the reality of what was happening dawned on me. I was in the middle of an earthquake!(当我的车 突然被拉到路的另一边时,我才意识到发生了地震!)” 根据第三段第一句话“Situated between a mountain on one side and power lines on the other, I was far too scared to stop in case they came crashing down on top of me. Instead, I decided the safest option was to keep driving slowly.(我一边是一座山,另一边是输电线,我 太害怕了,不敢停下来,怕它们塌掉压在我身上。相反,我决定最安全的选择是继续慢慢 开。)”可知,因为当时作者所处的道路两边都不安全,所以她只能在地震中继续往前开, 离开高危地区,故选 B 项。 【7 题详解】 推理判断题。根据文章最后一句话“Thankfully, around 15 minutes later, I saw two headlights in the distance.(幸运的是,大约十五分钟之后,我看到不远处有两束灯光。)” 故选 A 项。 C The latest thing in architecture is green buildings - covering walls and roofs with a carpet of plants to cool the house, absorb rain and provide a home for wildlife. Many such buildings need complex systems for holding and irrigating the soil, but there is a much easier approach: growing some ivy. Ivy is a group of evergreen climbing plants that are happy in shade or full sun and with most kinds of soil. They don’t need supports as they grow aerial roots that latch onto most things. Many people use ivy to quickly cover an ugly wall or fence. Besides that, in a mild climate such as the UK’s, an ivy covered wall will slightly warm a room in winter. As well as insulating (隔热), ivy cools a room in summer through shading and by water evaporation from its leaves. “It cools the surrounding air. It's like sweating,” says Tijana Blanuša at the University of Reading, UK, who has examined the insulating effects of climbers. She and her colleagues found that Hedera helix ivy created a larger cooling effect than two other climbers, Boston ivy and climbing hydrangea. This is probably because its leaf cover is so dense, says Blanuša. Ivy has a reputation for damaging buildings, but according to the UK’s Royal Horticultural Society, this doesn’t usually happen unless they already have cracks - the aerial roots can’t go through sound masonry The other fear is that it can make walls damp, but Blanuša's study found that ivy raised humidity next to the wall by only a small amount. You do need to be careful, though, as once ivy has been in the ground for a few years, it can grow like crazy. In some parts of the US and Australia, certain kinds of ivy are classed as invasive weeds. Having had a few battles with ivy plants, I let get out of control. If it reaches the roof, it can get under tiles (瓦片) and block gutters. So don’t plan on covering a wall with ivy unless you are willing to get up a ladder twice a year to cut off any shoots that are approaching danger zones. One option is to paint vulnerable structures with anti-graffiti paint that contains a chemical called silane. This reduces attachment of the plant's aerial roots. 8. What does the underlined phrase “latch onto” probably mean? A. Become attached to. B. Push aside. C. Hold up. D. Fit in with. 9. How does ivy bring down the temperature of a room? A. By sweating. B. By sucking water. C. By blocking light. D. By covering the wall. 10. What does the author want to tell us in Paragraph 3? A. Ivy is popular in the US and Australia. B. It’s believed that ivy can cause buildings to crack. C. To a large degree, ivy is to blame for the damp of a house. D. Ivy can find its way into a house through a hole in the wall. 11. Which word best describes the author’s attitude towards planting ivy? A. Supportive. B. Objective. C. Disapproving. D. Doubtful. A 9. C 10. D 11. 根据第一段中的“They don’t need supports as they grow aerial roots”(常春藤 不需要支撑,因为它们长出了气根。)再结合文章最后一段中的“One option is to paint vulnerable structures with anti-graffiti paint that contains a chemical called silane. This reduces attachment of the plant’s aerial roots”(用含有一种叫做硅烷的化学物质的防涂鸦涂料来油漆 脆弱的结构。 故选 A。 根据第二段中的“As well as insulating (隔热), ivy cools a room in summer through shading and by water evaporation from its leaves”(在夏天,常青藤通过遮阳和叶子上 的水分蒸发来为房间降温。) 根据第三段中的“Ivy has a reputation for damaging buildings, but according to the UK’s Royal Horticultural Society, this doesn’t usually happen unless they already have cracks - the aerial roots can’t go through sound masonry (砖石结构)”(常青藤素有破坏建筑物的名声, 但根据英国皇家园艺学会的说法,除非已经有裂缝,否则常青藤不会破坏建筑物,因为气生 的根无法穿透完好的砖石结构。) B。 D If you see the Rolling Stones in concert this summer and go get a drink, there may be no single-use plastic cup for you. The band and its promoter are working with Michael Martin - he's produced a bunch of big Earth Day concerts. The Stones approached Martin and asked for help in eliminating plastic waste. He came up with a simple solution. "When you come up to get your first drink, you put down a $3 deposit, you get a really high-quality Rolling Stones-branded cup," says Martin. "You use it throughout the night, and at the end of the event you can turn your cup in and get your $3 back or you can keep your cup." If you return the heavier plastic cup at the end of the show, it gets washed and used again. Or recycled. At some concert venues, there will still be disposable cups available as well. Martin, whose new company is called r. Cup, has been working with other artists, including U2, Bon Jovi, and Radiohead. "The live-event industry goes through more than 4 billion single-use cups a year. At a typical stadium event, you could see 100,000 or 200,000 cups thrown out," says Martin. But this idea - returning and reusing a cup - this isn't exactly rocket science. So, why is this just being tried now? "That's a really good question," says Martin. "In America, we're a throwaway society, and what's happening is that people are now seeing the consequences of that. And so, we're hoping we'll be able to wake people up and rearrange things." Throwaway cups do serve a few purposes: They're cheap and easy, and it's a way for vendors to keep track of sales and make sure their employees aren't giving away free beer. Still, Martin says we can get past that. He'd like to introduce reusable cups at sporting events, zoos, universities, and festivals. He's starting with rock concerts because artists have a pretty powerful platform. I mean, if Mick Jagger tells his fans to stop abusing the planet, who's going to say no to that? 12. Why did the Stones talk to Martin? A. Martin could work with artists harmoniously. B. Martin could run a new company successfully. C. Martin could offer assistance to reduce waste. D. Martin could provide recycled cups for audiences. 13. What do we know about the solution? A. It introduces a heavier plastic cup that can be both recycled and reused. B. It is well received among artists and customers in the live-event industry. C. It requires $3 deposit and customers can get a branded cup of good quality. D. It succeeds in preventing 4 billion single-use cups from going to the dump. 14. Why are people trying "returning and reusing a cup" now? A. Throwaway cups do serve few practical purposes. B. People are aware of the bad effect from throwaway cups. C. Artists play a significant role in stopping plastic pollution. D. A live concert consumes over 4 billion single-use cups a year. 15. What is the best title for this passage? A. Martin Produces Earth Day Concerts B. Environmental Rules Take Effect C. Single-use Plastic Cups Disappear D. The Rolling Stones Go Green 【答案】12. C 13. A 14. B 15. 根据第一段“The Stones approached Martin and asked for help in eliminating plastic waste. He came up with a simple solution.(Stones 夫妇找到马丁,请求他帮助消除塑料垃圾。 他想出了一个简单的解决办法)”可知,Stones 夫妇跟马丁谈话是因为马丁可以为减少垃圾 废品提供帮助。故选 C 项。 【13 题详解】 推理判断题。根据第二段“‘When you come up to get your first drink, you put down a $3 deposit, you get a really high-quality Rolling Stones-branded cup,’ says Martin. ‘You use it throughout the night, and at the end of the event you can turn your cup in and get your $3 back or you can keep your cup.’(马丁说:“当你来拿第一杯饮料时,只要付 3 美元定金,你就会得到一个真正高质 量的滚石牌杯子。你可以整夜使用它,活动结束时,你可以把杯子交上来,拿回 3 美元,也 可以留着杯子)”可知,这种解决方法推出了一种真正高质量的滚石牌杯子,可以回收和重 复使用。故选 A 项。 【14 题详解】 推理判断题。根据第五段“In America, we're a throwaway society, and what's happening is that people are now seeing the consequences of that.(在美国,我们是一次性社会,现在人们看到 了这样做的后果)”可知,人们已经意识到使用一次性杯子带来的不良影响,所以人们现在 开始尝试“回收再利用杯子”。故选 B 项。 【15 题详解】 主旨大意题。阅读全文以及根据第一段“If you see the Rolling Stones in concert this summer and go get a drink, there may be no single-use plastic cup for you. The Stones approached Martin and asked for help in eliminating plastic waste.(如果你今年夏天去看滚石乐队的演唱会,然后 去喝一杯,你可能不会有一次性塑料杯。该乐队及其推广人正在与迈克尔·马丁合作,他已 经举办了一系列大型地球日演唱会。滚石乐队找到马丁,请求他帮助消除塑料垃圾)”和最 后一段“He's starting with rock concerts because artists have a pretty powerful platform. I mean, if Mick Jagger tells his fans to stop abusing the planet, who's going to say no to that?(他从摇滚音 乐会开始,因为艺术家们有一个非常强大的平台。 How To Eat Better for the Planet You're environmentally conscious - and hungry. Here are answers to all your coo-friendly food questions. Does what I eat have an effect on climate change? Yes. The world's food system is responsible for about one quarter of the planet-warming greenhouse gases that humans generate each year. That includes raising and harvesting all the plants, animals, and animal products we eat. _____16_____ How exactly does food contribute to global warming? When some forests are cleared to make room for farms, cattle, sheep or other livestock, some serious problems may come up. _____17_____ Also, fossil fuels are used to operate farm machinery, make fertilizer, and ship food around the globe, all of which generate emissions. What about chicken? A number of studies have found that chickens, ducks, and other birds have a lesser climate impact than cattle or sheep kept on a farm. _____18_____ Especially at converting feeding materials into animal meat, the efficiency is highly improved, though this has prompted major concerns about animal welfare. Is organic produce better for the climate? Organic produce is grown without synthetic fertilizers or pesticides, but that doesn't mean it's necessarily better than conventionally grown produce from a climate perspective. _____19_____ In some cases it can be worse. _____20_____ It's true that one person alone just makes a little bit in the climate problem. On the other hand, if many people made changes to their diets, that could start to add up. Experts have argued that it would make a big difference if the world's heaviest meat eaters scaled back - even moderately. A. Does what we eat matter? B. Can I really make a difference? C. Organic farms often require more land. D. Modern-day chickens are bred to be extremely efficient. E. Processing, packaging, and shipping food are also part of it. F. Advances in chickens breeding are helping to reduce the cost of it. G. Large stores of carbon released into the atmosphere heat up the planet. 【答案】16. E 17. G 18. D 19. C 20. B 【解析】 【分析】 这是一篇议论文,文章阐述了人们的整个食物系统是如何对地球变暖产生影响的。 【16 题详解】 根 据 本 段 首 句 , “The world's food system is responsible for about one quarter of the planet-warming greenhouse gases that humans generate each year”(世界上的食物系统要为人类 产生的大约四分之一的温室气体负责任),由此可知,本段在讲人类的食物系统是怎样产生 温室气体的;本空上句提到,“That includes raising and harvesting all the plants, animals, and animal products we eat”(这个食物系统包括饲养和收获各种植物,动物及动物产 品),所以本空承接上文,E 项句意,“加工,包装和运输食物也是其中以部分”,符合语境。 故选 E。 【17 题详解】 上 句 提 到 , “When some forests are cleared to make room for farms, cattle, sheep or other livestock, some serious problems may come up.”(当一些森林被清除去为农场,牛,羊或其它 家畜让地方时,一些很严重地问题就出现了),本空承接上文,因此可推出,接下来讲“严重 地问题是什么”,所以 G 项,“被排放到大气层中的大量二氧化碳就会温暖地球”,符合语境。 故选 G。 【18 题详解】 由本段的主题可知,本段主要讲述“鸡”的影响;再根据本空上一句,“A number of studies have found that chickens, ducks, and other birds have a lesser climate impact than cattle or sheep kept on a farm”(大量研究表明鸡鸭和其他的鸟类动物比起牛或羊这样被养在农场的动物有更小 的气候影响),本空承接上文,因此可推出,接下来应该讲“鸡是怎样更小的产生影响的”, 所以 D 项,“现代化的小鸡天生就是非常高效的”,符合语境。故选 D。 【19 题详解】 由本段的主题可知,本段主要讲述“有机耕种”的影响;再根据本空上一句,“but that doesn't mean it's necessarily better than conventionally grown produce from a climate perspective”(但是 这并不意味着从气候的视角来看,有机耕种就一定比传统的种植好),本空承接上文,因此 可推出,本空要讲“有机耕种”,并且讲有机耕种的缺点,所以 C 项,“有机耕种需要更多土 地”,符合语境。故选 C。 【20 题详解】 根据最后一段,“It's true that one person alone just makes a little bit in the climate problem. On the other hand, if many people made changes to their diets, that could start to add up”(一个人在 气候的问题上的确影响不大,但是另一方面,如果许多人都对他们的饮食作出改变,那么这 种影响就会积累),本空引起下文,所以可推出,作者在号召所有人都作出努力,故 B 项, “我真的可以起到作用吗?”,符合语境。故选 B。 【点睛】 第三部分 语言运用(共两节) 第一节(共 15 小题) 阅读下面短文,从短文后各题所给的 A、B、C 和 D 四个选项中,选出可以填入 空白处的最佳选项。 My bedroom window from across the school provided me with a wonderful angle to watch the kids _____21_____ during recess. The mayor was acutely aware that his goal should be achieved not only by laws but also morals as well. He was a firm believer of the thought that nothing good could come to a town whose people only complained and expected others to solve their own problems! One day, a new idea suddenly struck him. Early one morning, the mayor dressed himself up and went to a village nearby. He secretly placed a large stone in the middle of the main street and hid a gold coin under the stone. The instant every preparation was done, he hid himself behind a huge maple tree and watched closely, wondering what would happen before long. The first person down the street was a milkman with his cart. He took no notice of it and the cart violently crashed into the stone, spilling the milk everywhere. "What fool put this stone here?" he shouted loudly. He picked himself up and angrily went away. After a while, a group of women came along, each balancing a pot of water on her head and paying no attention to the road. One woman tripped over the stone and her water pot went crashing to the ground. She picked herself up and limped away in tears. Neither she nor her friends thought about moving the stone out of the road. The mayor watched all day as many people passing to and fro complained about the stone but he found nobody making an attempt to move it and have the road cleared of the obstacle. The mayor was disappointed and even in despair. "Is there no one in this village who feels any responsibility to keep their neighbors from harm?" 注意:1.所续写短文的词数应为 150 左右; 2.续写部分分为两段,每段的开头语已为你写好。 Just then, the mayor saw a young girl coming along. _______________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________ At that moment, the mayor stepped out from behind the tree. _______________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________ 【答案】Just then, the mayor saw a young girl coming along. She was from a poor family and had worked all day, worn-out. When seeing the stone, she thought, “It’s a danger to whoever comes down the street after dark. I should move it out of the way!” Thin as she was, she pushed the stone with all her might and finally made it. Turning round, she saw the gold coins where the stone had been. Rooted to the spot with surprise, she was wondering whose gold it was. At that moment, the mayor stepped out from behind the tree. “Sir,” she said, “Is this gold yours? If not, we surely must find the owner!” He replied, “My dear, the gold is mine but now it’s yours, because it’s you that has learned the lesson I want to teach my people.” The story went about soon. The adults passing earlier felt ashamed and guilty about their irresponsibility. From then on, the people in this town became more responsible and caring for each other. Of course, one good turn deserves another. Years later, the whole town took on a completely new outlook. 词汇激活 行为类 ①看见:spot/witness/observe ②搬石头:move the stone/carry the stone way ③解释:explain/make clear/interpret/reply 情绪类 ①.思考:think deeply/ reflect on ②.愧疚:be ashamed of/take shame on oneself 【点睛】[高分句型 1].Thin as she was, she pushed the stone with all her might and finally made it.
