[2019·安徽安庆二模]Spotify can tell if you're sad. Here's why that should scare you. Want to figure out if someone is a patient with a mental disability:Ask them what their favorite song is. A New York University study last year found that people who loved Eminem's Lose Yourself and Just
in Bieber's What Do You Mean? were more likely to have trouble with mental disabilities than people who were into Dire Straits.
Over the past few years, Spotify has been improving the ability to analyze information to help businessmen target consumers with advertisements made specially for their needs. They conclude this from the sort of music you're listening to, combined with where and when you're listening to it, along with thirdparty data that might be available.
Now, to be clear, there's nothing significantly illegal about what Spotify is doing with your information. I certainly don't think that they are working with shadowy consulting firms to serve you ads selling a culture struggle while you're listening to music that suggests you might be in a terrible situation. However, I find it disappointing that our personal, private moments with music are increasingly being turned into information points and offered to advertisers.
You can see where this could go, can't you? As ad targeting gets ever more accurate, businessmen will have the ability to target our feelings in potentially improper ways. According to one study, you are more likely to spend more on a product if you're feeling sad. You can imagine some companies might take advantage of that. And on that note, I'm feeling a little down about all this. Head off to treat myself to something expensive.
4.What's the purpose of the first paragraph?
A.To introduce a new song.
B.To draw readers' attention.
C.To help more patients.
D.To promote a new medium.
5.Why does Spotify improve its ability to analyze information?
A.To provide services for the government.
B.To work with shadowy consulting firms.
C.To get listeners' personal information.
D.To help businessmen attract consumers.
6.What's the author's attitude toward Spotify?
A.Uncertain. B.Supportive.
C.Positive. D.Dissatisfied.
7.Who is the text probably designed for?
A.Music lovers. B.Officials.
C.Researchers. D.Managers.

[2019·洛阳市第二次统考]We've heard of robots and AI (artificial intelligence) taking human jobs, but I bet mayors don't really think their jobs can be threatened any time soon. They were wrong, and the AI running for the mayor of a Tokyo district was clear proof of that.
AI can't legally run for highranking public management positions yet, but one mayoral candidate from Tama City, Tokyo, intended to maximize the use of artificial intelligence in running city affairs. He was running his campaign as an AI Mayor. Basically, he was suggesting replacing human public officials with AI and having it collect city data and create fair and balanced policies that will benefit everyone.
“For the first time in the world, AI will run in an election,”human candidate Michihito Matsuda announced. “Artificial Intelligence will change Tama City. With the birth of an AI Mayor, we will conduct balanced politics.”
The AI Mayor was campaigning very much like its human competitors. Posters were shown all over Tama City and campaign trucks were blaring out promises of an AI utopia (乌托邦) and asking for support.
Some people called Michihito Matsuda's campaign a stunt (噱头), as a human would still be the one legally in charge. However, others said that they were excited about the future of AI running things in the background, adding that it had to be a better choice.
8.What's the advantage of the AI Mayor according to Michihito Matsuda?
A.Maximizing the use of AI.
B.Replacing human officials.
C.Creating balanced policies.
D.Bringing him beneficial effects.
9.How will AI run for the mayor?
A.It will abolish many old policies.
B.It will ask for support on the Internet.
C.It will make public speeches, dressed like a human.
D.It will compete similarly to human competitors.
10.What's the citizens' attitude toward Michihito Matsuda's campaign?
A.They believe AI will win.
B.All consider it to be tricky.
C.It is supposed to be a failure definitely.
D.Some think it's worthy of expectation.
11.What is the best title for the passage?
A.AI Runs for the Mayor.
B.The Advantages of AI.
C.AI Replaces Human in Management.
D.The Patterns of AI Management.

[2020·长春市质量监测]Play is vital in every child's development, and for toddlers (蹒跚学步的小孩) the benefits of play especially come to life when they can connect with parents during playtime. To raise awareness and help parents create the time and attention span needed. The Lego Group launches a “Do not disturb playtime” campaign. 21 days is what it takes on average to break a habit, so for 21 days the Lego team will not post on social media during “toddler playtime”, defined as 5 a.m. — 8 p.m.
With social media being an integrated part and creative inspiration to modern family life, it is no surprise that researchers call our digital behavior as a concerning obstacle to quality playtime.
“While we are hooked_on our cellphones, we should think about turning them off when interacting with our young children. Kids learn so much from us and we don't want to get in the way of that. Take language learning for example. When nurturing caregivers talk to their children about what they are interested in, it helps them learn new words and new ways to express themselves. Our research shows that the use of cellphones in a conversation between parents and children disturbs children's word learning,” advises Roberta Golinkoff, Ph.D., Professor at the University of Delaware.
Our research shows that parents today understand their significant roles in insuring their kids grow up to be happy, wellrounded, and equipped for the future. At the same time, many worry about not spending enough time with their toddlers. Lego wants to inspire parents to make the small moments memorable.
“We know parents today feel more timestarved than ever before. Many feel guilty about not spending enough time with their little ones. Through the ‘Do not disturb playtime’ campaign we hope to reassure parents that it's not so much the amount of time they spend with their kids, but the small meaningful moments they create during play,” said Steffen Jensen, LEGO Croup Senior Marketing Director.
12.Which of the following words can replace the underlined phrase “hooked on” in Paragraph 3?
A.Addicted to. B.Familiar with.
C.Excited about. D.Strict in.
13.What can we know according to the passage?
A.Digital behavior is supposed to be totally abandoned in our daily life.
B.Parents today attach little importance to spending time with their children.
C.Parents have more time than before so they should accompany their children.
D.This campaign is intended to arouse parents' awareness of the importance of playtime.
14.What might be Roberta Golinkoff's attitude toward the campaign?
A.Disapproving B.Unconcerned.
C.Critical. D.Supportive.
15.While interacting with their children, what are parents advised to do?
A.Express themselves in new ways.
B.Focus on children's language learning.
C.Create memorable and meaningful experiences.
D.Provide children with big projects rather than small ones.

1.B 根据下文中的“First, they started a sausagemaking business. Then, they ran grocery store”可知,作者的祖母一家作为移民,他们先后开办了香肠制作店和食品杂货店,这说明他们很有冒险精神。 united“团结的”;reliable“可靠的”;cautious“小心的,谨慎的”。
rigid“僵硬的”;big“大的”;heavy“沉重的”。
manage“经营”;demand“需要,要求”;supply“供应”。
4.D 根据上文中的“Her father insisted on helping by extending credit to them”“his selfless help led to financial disaster”可知,在经济大萧条的形势下,作者祖母的父亲坚持为人们提供信贷服务。 when“当……
unconfirmed“未经证实的”;unknown“未知的”;unnoticed“被忽视的”。
6.A 根据上文中的“After her parents' deaths two years later”和下文中的“She found a job... repaid”可知,祖母的父母去世后,她承担了那些债务。 turn over“使翻转”;pick up“捡起”;make up“构成,组成”。
下文中的“looking after and protecting them”是提示。bother“使烦恼”;comfort“安慰”;instruct“指导”。
8.D 根据上文中的“She fell sick... helpless”和下文中的“She finally pulled herself together”可知,但是,她最终振作起来了。 therefore“因此”;meanwhile“与此同时”;otherwise“否则,要不然”。
command“命令”;remind“提醒”;expect“期待”。
in turn“轮流;转而”;in secret“秘密地”;in surprise“惊讶地”。
intelligence“智慧”;fortune“运气”;confidence“信心”。
role“角色”;attempt“尝试”;error“错误”。
下文中的“Be appreciative of everything”亦是提示。 ready“准备好的”;respectful“尊敬的”;responsible“负有责任的”。
promise“承诺”;pretend“假装”;intend“打算”。
business“商务;公事”;challenge“挑战”;activity“活动”。
go around“传播,流行”;go with“附属于”;go over“仔细考虑,仔细检查”。
17.A 根据下文中的“into an envelope __18__ to Olivia”
hesitantly“不情愿地,犹豫地”;thoughtfully“体贴地”;gently“温柔地”。
continue“继续说”;respond“答复”;explain“解释”。
unfairness“不公平”;uncertainty“犹豫”;danger“危险”。
根据空前的one of the和空后的bookstore chains in China及语境可推知,此处应用big的最高级形式。
serve as“充当……”
so far为现在完成时的标志,且根据语境可知,offer与其主语the government为主动关系,所以此处应填has offered。

Since I was a kid, I've considered different jo I would like to do. First, I wanted to be a fireman, whose uniform looked so . Then, when I was in the grade, I wanted to be a teacher because I liked my English teacher much. When I studied chemistry high school, I reconsidered my goal decided to be a doctor. were two reasons for the decision. One was that I was at the fact that a sick person could feel much better after seeing a doctor. And the other that I wanted to help people in need.
in/at high school“在中学”。
本句中“reconsidered my goal”与“decided to be a doctor”为递进关系而非选择关系,故将or改为and。
