A (基础型)
When an earthquake hit a small town, many houses fell down. After the earthquake, all the newspapers reported many stories about some of the families who were in trouble.
One Sunday, when I was reading a newspaper,a special picture touched me. It gave the clothing sizes of each family member. I thought that this would be a good chance to teach my children to help those who were less lucky than themselves.I said to my seven-year-old twins,Brad and Brett, and three-year-old Meghan,“We have so much, and these poor people now have nothing. We’ll share what we have with them.”
I filled a box with foods and clothes. While I was doing this,I encouraged the boys to choose their toys and donate some of their less favorite things. Meghan watched quietly as the boys took out their old toys and games and put them together. Then she walked away. A few minutes later, she came back with Lucy, her much-loved doll. She put the doll on top of the other toys.“Oh,dear,” I said.“You don’t have to give Lucy. You love her so much.” Meghan said,“Lucy makes me happy,Mommy. Maybe she’ll make another little girl happy, too.”
I looked at Meghan for a long moment. She taught me a lesson. It’s easy to give something that we don’t want any more, but hard to give what we cherish(珍爱),isn’t it?

I am afraid of heights but two summers ago I climbed to a high place. Most of our high school had come along on a day trip to a beautiful beach village in Peru. After eating our lunches, many of us wanted to make the climb to an area around the village.
Do I turn back? “Yes!” Will I regret (后悔))it later? I really want to get to the top, but... At last, I decided at least to have a try.
My friend Tom was in front of me. Then, suddenly,he slipped (滑倒))and was about 10 feet back! My heart was beating faster until he stopped himself. Knowing that my friend Seth would be right behind me, I began the climb. I was soon past the first challenge safely, but not feeling much better about the rest of the climb. Looking down, I saw rocks everywhere. My breathing sped up, and my heart beat even faster, growing loud in my ears.
My friends kept climbing. But they did not forget me. Someone was always behind me to help hold my feet when necessary, and someone else was always in front to offer a hand up. With friends helping me by words and actions, I slowly gained ground.
Then we came to the worst part. The climb looked very close to vertical (垂直的). To me,the wise choice was to go back down. Melody encouraged me to go on and she made it safely first. I stopped, unsure of my footing. “You can do it, Jean! I’m right here,” Melody called. She waited patiently, not asking me to hurry. I took a few deep breaths and kept climbing.
With no more mistakes, we came to the top finally. I was dirty and tired. But it didn’t matter. I was at the top! I had never felt so alive.

Going green seems to be a fad (时尚) for a lot of people these days. Whether that is good or bad, we can't really say, but for the two of us, going green is not a fad but a lifestyle.
On April 22, 2011, we decided to go green every single day for an entire year. This meant doing 365 different green things, and it also meant challenging ourselves to go green beyond the easy things. Rather than recycle and reduce our energy, we had to think of 365 different green things to do and this was no easy task.
With the idea of going green every single day for a year, Our Green Year started. My wife and I decided to educate people about how they could go green in their lives and hoped we could show people all the green things that could be done to help the environment. We wanted to push the message that every little bit helps.
Over the course of Our Green Year, we completely changed our lifestyles. We now shop at organic(有机的) stores. We consume less meat, choosing green food. We have greatly reduced our buying we don't need. We have given away half of what we owned through websites. Our home is kept clean by vinegar and lemon juice, with no chemical cleaners. We make our own butter, enjoying the smell of home-made fresh bread. In our home office anyone caught doing something ungreen might be punished.
Our minds have been changed by Our Green Year. We are grateful for the chance to have been able to go green and educate others. We believe that we do have the power to change things and help our planet.
29.It was difficult for the couple to live a green life for the whole year because____.
A.they were expected to follow the green fad B.they didn't know how to educate other
people
C.they were unwilling to reduce their energy D.they needed to perform unusual green tasks
30.What did the couple do over the course of Our Green Year?
A.They tried to get out of their ungreen habits. B.They ignored others' ungreen behavior.
C.They chose better chemical cleaners. D.They sold their home made food.
31.What can we infer from the last paragraph?
A.The government will give support to the green project.
B.The couple may continue their project in the future.
C.Some people disagree with the couple's green ideas.
D.Our Green Year is becoming a national campaign.

Fire fighting is a serious matter. Knowing what to do during a fire can save people’s lives. It is important to know the ways you can use and show them to everyone else in the family, such as stairways and emergency exits, but not elevators.
From the lower floors of buildings, escape through windows is possible. Learn the best way to get out from a window with the least chance of serious injury.
The second floor window is usually not very high from the ground. An average person, hanging by the fingertips will have a drop of about 6 feet to the ground. It is about the height of an average man. Of course, it is safer to jump a short way down than to stay in a burning building.
Windows are also useful when you are waiting for help. Be sure to keep the door closed before opening the window. Otherwise, smoke and fire may be drawn into the room. Keep your head low at the window to be sure you get fresh air rather than smoke that may have leaked(漏)into the room.
On the second or third floor, the best windows for escape are those which open onto a roof. From the roof a person can drop to the ground more safely. Dropping onto cement might end in injury. Bushes and trees can help you to have a soft landing.
32.Which of the following should not be used when trying to escape from a fire?
A.windows B.elevators C.fire exits D.stairways
33.How far from the ground is the second floor window?
A.about 12 feet B.about 6 feet C.about the height of an average man D.nearly 10 feet
34.According to the passage, windows are _______ of escaping a fire.
A.the only way B.the best way C.safer than any other ways D.one of the possible ways
35.If you are on the second or third floor when a fire breaks out, you’d better ______.
A.drop directly onto the ground B.first drop onto a roof then onto the cement
C.drop from a roof window then onto bushes or trees
D.drop onto the cement rather than bushes and grass

Last week, I part in the Cultural Exchange Week. I enjoyed myself in England. I visited the city museum and several of interest, which made me have better understanding of the English society, culture and history.
What's more, I was lucky enough to my pen friend Tom there. I stayed at his home. And I'll never forget the days we spent together. When I left England, he offered me a dictionary as a gift. It's of great help me to learn English. I will make full use of and learn English .
I hope Tom will come to China when it's for him!
第三处:have a better understanding of… 故在have后加a。
第四处:be + 形容词 + enough to do sth 意为“足以......去做某事”。故将meeting改为meet。
第五处:此处 we spent together 是定语从句,修饰先行词the days,关系词在定语从句中作spent 的宾语,所以应用关系代词that或which,或直接省略。故将when改为 that/which,或删除when。
故删除to。
It is of great help for sb to do sth 意为“做某事对某人来说是很有帮助的”故将with改为for。
故将them改为it。
故将good改为well或better。
