Guo Jiajia was later found unconscious on the floor with her clothes and fingers badly burnt.‎ At about ‎3 a.m. on Saturday, the lights and electrical appliances(电器) in their living room started exploding, the girl’s mother, Ms Lai Rongqing, told Chinese news site Southcn.com in a report on Monday (Dec.5).‎ Ms Lai immediately woke her mother, husband and daughter up and asked them to flee, while she ran downstairs to turn off the electrical and gas mains.‎ She told Southcn.com that the living room was already on fire by then.‎ ‎"When I left, my husband was putting on his pants, my daughter and mother had already woken up. My daughter’s room was nearest to the main door," she said.‎ As the neighbors rushed to put out the fire, Ms Lai continued searching for her daughter. She spotted Jiajia lying on the floor by a liquor cabinet facing a bedroom. Her husband dashed in to save their daughter. Jiajia’s clothes were almost completely burnt, and her fingers were burnt black. She regained consciousness only when her mother splashed water on her.‎ Ms Lai asked: "You came out already, why did you go back in?"‎ Jiajia said: "I went in to look for dad, but I didn’t find him."‎ Mr Guo was injured in a traffic accident in 2010 which left him less mobile.‎ Firefighters arrived at the scene shortly and put out the blaze. The authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.‎ ‎25. According to the mother, what is probably the cause of the big fire?‎ A. The breakdown of the electrical and gas mains.‎ B. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.‎ C. The explosion of the lights and electrical appliances.‎ D. The misusing of the lights and electrical appliances.‎ ‎26. Why did the girl go back into the burning house when she had come out already?‎ A. Because her father was once injured in a traffic accident.‎ B. Because she thought her father was still in the burning house.‎ C. Because her father was disabled and could not move freely.‎ D. Because she wanted to prove that she was a very brave girl.‎ ‎27. What does the underlined word “amputated” in Paragraph 1 probably mean?‎ A. cut off B. get over C. cut up D. get off ‎28. We can infer from the passage that the girl is ______.‎ A. selfless and tough B. bright and calm ‎ C. curious and kind D. caring and brave C Love nature? Then you’ll love Sundarbans. Unusual trees, barking deer, fearless tigers and fish that climb out on land make this a fascinating place. Part of the largest delta (三角洲)in the world, Sundarbans sits where three rivers meet: the Ganges, the Brahmaputra and the Meghna. The Sundarbans delta is shared by both India and Bangladesh. Since 1984, the Indian part has been named Sundarbans‎ ‎National Park. In addition to being part of the largest delta in the world, Sundarbans is the world’s largest mangrove(红树林植物) forest and boasts the world’s largest tiger population.‎ Although Sundarbans means “beautiful jungle” in the Bengali language, the name probably came from the many Sundari trees that grow here. These mangrove trees have unusual roots that hold them suspended (悬,挂) above the water line. Thanks to their specially designed roots, the mangroves can survive in the salty water of the delta. These rainforests by the sea also serve an important protective function, guarding the coastline from erosion and the region’s people from the attack of tornado.‎ The wonder of Sundarbans’ plant life is matched by the attraction of the animals. Some of the most appealing species include the barking deer, which makes a cry like a barking dog when alarmed. Then there is the mudskipper, an amphibious(两栖的) fish that walks on land and even climbs trees! By far the most scary creature of Sundarbans is the Royal Bengal tiger. Several hundred tigers call the region home, and they find the humans are easily hunted for food. Hundreds of people have been killed by the tigers here in recent years. Still, many tourists are eager for a glance at this rare and endangered species. However, few ever manage to see one. Maybe that’s a good thing, considering the tigers’ hunting skills.‎ With all of the natural wonders in Sundarbans‎ ‎National Park, it’s not surprising that it is a world Heritage site—a land mark of the world. And it is also among the finalists in the New 7 wonders of Nature contest. Find out why Sundarbans is such a world treasure by visiting the area yourself. Just getting there, however, will be quite an adventure, but you’ll come to love nature ‎ more than ever.‎ ‎29. We can learn from the passage that ______.‎ A. Sundarbans is the largest mangrove forest in the world.‎ B. The Sundarbans delta has belonged to India since 1984.‎ C. Sundarbans is the largest delta where two rivers meet.‎ D. Sundarbans is one of the seven wonders in the world. ‎ ‎30. What is “Sundarbans” named after?‎ A. The rare animals. B. The appealing coast.‎ C. The beautiful jungle. D. The unusual trees.‎ ‎31. What attracts the adventurous tourists most in Sundarbans?‎ A. The barking deer. B. The mangrove trees.‎ C. The scary tigers. D. The amphibious fishes.‎ ‎32. What is the main purpose of passage?‎ A. To describe a fascinating place. B. To recommend a tourist attraction.‎ C. To introduce a world Heritage site. D. To present some natural wonders.‎ D People with pessimistic(悲观的)attitudes are at higher risk of dying from heart disease, according to a new study in BMC Public Health.‎ The researchers followed 2,267 Finnish(芬兰人)52-to-76-year-olds for 11 years. Participants started by taking a questionnaire to measure their levels of optimism and pessimism. ‎ After 11 years, the researchers looked at the optimism and pessimism levels of the 121 subjects who had died from CHD(冠心病coronary heart disease). Turns out, those who’d died from CHD had been more pessimistic at the start of the study than those who were still alive. ‎ The study didn’t look into the factors making pessimistic people more likely to die of CHD, but the researchers think that a bad attitude could cause inflammation that leads to heart problems, says lead researcher Mikko Pänkäläinen. “It has been found, for example, that depressed individuals have higher levels of inflammation markers in their blood,” he says.‎ Even though pessimism increased death risk, high optimistic scores didn’t protect against CHD-related death. Past studies have shown that too optimistic people tend to take more unhealthy risks, says Dr. Pänkäläinen. “Too optimistic people may do unhealthy choices because ‎ they think that these choices won’t harm them in any way,” he says. “This might explain at least some of our finding that optimism does not protect from CHD-related death. We cannot say if changing the attitude will lower the risk of CHD and CHD-related death. However, thinking more optimistic does not cause you any harm. Your best bet is putting extra effort into healthy habits like exercising regularly and quitting smoking. Still, giving a brighter outlook a try can’t hurt.” ‎ ‎33. Which of the following is true about the research?‎ A. A good attitude will surely lower the risk of CHD-related death.‎ B. Optimistic people are always wise to make healthy choices.‎ C. A bad attitude is the only factor increasing CHD-related death.‎ D. Pessimistic people are more likely to die from heart problems.‎ ‎34. According to Mikko Pänkäläinen, we should NOT _____ if we want to reduce of the risk of heart problems.‎ A. think more optimistic B. stick to our attitude ‎ C. try a brighter outlook D. develop healthy habits ‎35. What may be the best title for the text?‎ A. How to Keep an Optimistic Attitude?‎ B. What Could You Do to Escape Heart Disease?‎ C. Could Pessimism Hurt Your Heart?‎ D. Could Optimism Protect Against Heart Disease?‎ 第二节(共5小题:每小题2分,满分10分)(原创)‎ 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。‎ Five Ways to Use Body Language to Build Trust Trust is very important in our daily life and work. Do you want to make others trust you? These nonverbal cues(非语言暗示)will help people see you as more trustworthy.‎ l Put your phone down Maintaining eye contact when someone is talking will help build trust because it shows genuine interest, but that’s hard to do if you keep glancing at your phone or scanning around the room. Listening with your eyes is important. 36 ‎ l ‎ 37 ‎ You might only be crossing your arms and legs, say, because you’re cold, but that stance (立场) closes you off and blocks any basis for building trust. Make sure your body looks open. You’ll look more open to hearing others’ thoughts. These are little habits that make people trust you.‎ l Just smile and nod ‎ 38 . It indicates you’re interested in what the person is saying. It’s a really good indicator of listening when we give good nonverbal feedback. Just don’t overdo the positive reaction, which will make you seem less genuine.‎ l Keep your palms open Pointing your fingers looks like an accusation, and pounding your fist makes you seem angry, even if you’re just using those gestures for emphasis. 39 . If you’re using your hand to emphasize and it’s an open palm with all five fingers extended, that shows openness. If you close your fingers, it’s blaming and not an open gesture.‎ l Limit your note taking Sometimes notes are necessary when you’re talking to a coworker. 40 . If you’re constantly writing down what the other person says, that person could start feeling self-conscious. Having a notebook and taking notes makes the other person feel uncomfortable and like ‘Why are they writing that down?’‎ A. Nodding and smiling while someone is talking shows you’re listening.‎ B. Open your eyes to others C. Uncross your arms and legs D. It says, ‘I don’t want to look at emails—you’re important.’‎ E. But make sure all that note-taking doesn’t get in the way of your eye contact.‎ F. And try your best to make notes of everything that the other person says.‎ G. With long golden hair, she always stands out among our teachers. Foreign teacher as she is, she is quite easy-going and gets along well with everyone.‎ I really admire the fact that she likes to communicate with us students after class. So we become friends. Not only is she a good friend, but also she’s an excellent teacher. She uses various teaching methods to attract our attention. What’s more, she holds different activities to open our eyes. She believes that everyone can be a good English learner. So we have gained a lot of self-confidence in her class. What impresses me most is her native pronunciation. It sounds like a beautiful melody. ‎ Anyhow, XXXX is a successful teacher in our eyes. She deserves the honor of “the Most Beautiful Foreign Teacher”. It’s my firm wish that you could take this into account. Thank you for your consideration.‎ Yours sincerely,‎ Li Hua 附:听力材料 Text 1‎ W: Something strange happened today. But when I was admitted to the University‎ of ‎California three years ago, they sold the farm to live closer to me.‎ Text 8‎ M: Do you see that guy over there? His name is Wayne and he was on the TV news last night.‎ W: Which guy? The one in the blue jacket or the one wearing a hat?‎ M: No, the tall guy. The one next to the car (10). ‎ W: Oh, the tall guy. What was he on the news for?‎ M: He was telling a reporter about a group he works with that collects money for poor students.‎ W: Does he work for some kind of charity or something?‎ M: He and his co-workers are just helping kids because they want to. They’re all bus drivers(11). How awesome is that (12)?‎ W: That’s so cool(12). My sister told me about some farmers that did something like that last year. ‎ M: It’s easy for some people to organize and help out, but I couldn’t do it.‎ W: Yeah, I couldn’t either. It’s too much work. But I’m happy to give them some money.‎ M: Yeah, me too.‎ Text 9‎ M: Hi, I’d like to rent a mid-size car for five days.‎ W: Sorry, we don’t have any available. But we do have a couple of economy and full-size cars available.‎ M: Well, what is the main difference between those cars?‎ W: The main difference is size. The economy car is the smallest, and it seats fewer passengers and can hold less luggage (13). How many people are with you?‎ M: Just me and my son.‎ W: Well, the economy car would work fine. We have one right out front.‎ M: Where? That one? It looks like a shoebox to me. Look, I’m really tall….‎ W: Well, if you need more room, I’d recommend the full-size car (14). It also has a nice stereo system, a CD player, and power locks and windows…‎ M: Well, I’m not concerned about how it’s equipped. I just want to make sure it is comfortable to drive (15). And can you set up a car seat in one of those cars? My son is three years old.‎ W: Sure. That’ll be one dollar extra per day (16).‎ M: Ok. I’ll go with the full-size car.‎ W: Okay. Let me just confirm this. A full-size car with a car seat for five days. Is that right?‎ M: Yeah.‎ Text 10‎ I’m going to introduce you to my friend Tommy “Thunder Fist” Hamilton (17). Many years ago, Tommy was a boxing champion. Today, he is a professional trainer, and he works with many young fighters. He is a fitness trainer and coach for men like Carlos Gonzalez and Joey “Two Toes” Jones, who is the champion right now (18). We’re meeting Tommy here at the Thunder Fist Gym. He comes here each and every day, but his clients aren’t always here. Many of his clients are famous, and they pay a lot of money to come here to work out. So please don’t bother them during their visit. Tommy knows we’re coming and he has invited us to try some of his special training methods (19). Before we go in, I need to explain a few things. Tommy is loud. He’s very tall, and looks a little scary. But don’t worry about the way he looks. He really is a nice guy, and he will be happy to answer any questions you have about him and his training. He loves helping people to get fit (20).‎
