But what she could hear over the snowy ditch was nothing but the terrible noise of the wind. Nobody came to her and nobody knew where she was. She struggled again and again. Her face was struck by the strong wind, snow and sand, and was almost frozen. Her hands were stiff. She also felt that she was worn out. She started to cry hopelessly. Just at the moment Ann saw a black dog appearing through the heavy snow. It was Victor, her true friend. He was glad to see the sign of life. And the dog set out to work as soon as he got to Ann. He cleaned away the snow around her with his own paws and hind legs, and then reached out his big strong fur head to Ann. The little girl closed her arms round Victor's neck. The dog backed away slowly, pulling her out of the ditch little by little.

Researchers at Stanford University have developed a new material that can move heat out of buildings and send it into space. The researchers say the material can cool buildings
even on hot days. The cooling material is a very thin sheet with many layers that could be placed on a roof like solar panels (板). However, instead of turning sunlight into energy as solar panels do, the material turns heat into radiation (辐射).
Shanhui Fan is an electrical engineering professor at Stanford University. He says that the panels have a layer of material that is like sand. The panels act like a mirror. They take heat out of buildings and reflect the light from the sun. And he says both the heat and sunlight are sent 100 kilometers into outer space. “It’s a structure that cools itself without electricity input, even under the sun. So, what it does is to basically radiate heat to outer space and also reflect the sunlight so it doesn’t get heated up by the sun." Mr. Fan says it is like having a window into space. The heat is sent directly into space without warming the air.
He says buildings in developing countries that do not have electricity or air conditioning could use the panels. “In areas where electricity is out of reach for many people, there is a potential benefit for storing medicine or even food. In many of these situations, being able to reduce the temperature is important. And this would provide a way to do it.”
The researchers say the main problem is creating actual cooling systems using the high-tech panels. They say it may be possible to develop a cooling spray(喷涂) that could be used on present solid structures. They believe the cooling spray technology could be developed in the next three to five years. They say as much as 15 percent of the energy used in the United States is spent providing power to air conditioning systems.
28. The first paragraph mainly tells us ________.
A. living on hot days is no longer a big problem now
B. a new material is developed to cool buildings
C. researchers are developing new solar panels on roofs
D. the new material is a very thin sheet with many layers
29. How does the panel work?
A. It takes in the heat and cools it down. B. It uses a mirror to reflect the sunlight.
C. It sends heat away right into space. D. It has a window to let out the heat.
30. The new material is especially useful in areas that ________.
A. suffer high temperature B. have poor air quality
C. have plenty of food D. are short of power
31. What can you infer from the passage?
A. The appliance of the new panel is still under research.
B. Some people got benefits from producing the panels.
C. People may have problems in using the new material.
D. The new panels may save 15 percent of the energy.
D
Born in 1928 in Nanjing, Jiangsu, Yu Guangzhong, who spent his younger days on the Chinese mainland before moving to Taiwan in his 20s, passed away on Dec 14, 2017. Nostalgia (《乡愁》)—which Yu wrote in his 40s to voice his homesickness for his childhood motherland—became his most well-known work, since it resonated (共鸣 ) with many people who were far away from home. The poem appeared in Chinese school textbooks and was adapted into songs.
However, the fact that Nostalgia became so famous also disturbed Yu because among the over l, 000 poems that he’d written, Nostalgia seemed to be the only one that the public ever talked about and appreciated. .
“I’d like to think of Nostalgia as my business card, but unfortunately it got too big that it kept people from seeing the real me," Yu once said, according to China Youth Daily.
Indeed, writing poems is only one of Yu’s many talents. Great Chinese writer Liang Shiqiu ( 1903-1987 ) once spoke of Yu, “He writes poems with his right hand and prose (散文) with his left. There is hardly anyone who matches his achievements at the time.”
Yu was also a translator. Yu spoke French, German, Spanish, Italian and Russian, and published 13 translation collections.
And he used his talents well. He spent his whole life working, even in his 80s. Yu said that whenever people asked whether he still kept the habit of writing up, he would always answer, “Why don’t you ask me if I’m still breathing?”
To him, writing was an inseparable (不可分割的) part of life that shouldn’t be affected by age or anything else.
Now that Yu has taken his last breath, his writing career has finally been put to rest. But
the many books he wrote and translated will continue to carry the nostalgia people have for him.
32. How old was Yu Guangzhong when he died?
A.86. B.87. C.88. D.89.
33. How did Liang Shiqiu like Yu Guangzhong?
A. He spoke hardly of Yu Guangzhong. B. He thought highly of Yu Guangzhong.
C. He was indifferent to Yu Guangzhong. D. He was very friendly to Yu Guangzhong
34. Which of the following does not describe Yu Guangzhong?
A. A poet. B. A writer. C. A thinker D. A translator
35. What can we infer from the last three paragraphs?
A. Nostalgia is important for him in his life.
B. Writing is as important as translation.
C. Writing is the most important part in his life.
D. His talents are the most important in his writing.

写作
One possible version
In order to encourage the students to take outdoor exercise, our school organized a mountain- climbing on April 10. Hundreds of us took part in it.
It was a nice day. At 8:00 am, we gathered at the foot of Daqing Mountain and set out for the top in high spirits. All the way we students were chatting, singing and laughing, enjoying the fresh air and the beautiful scenery. When some fell behind, others would come and offer help. About two hours later, we all reached the top. Bathed in sunshine, we jumped and cheered with joy.
The activity benefited us a lot. Not only did it get us close to nature and give us relaxation from heavy school work, it also promoted the friendship among us. What a wonderful time!
