A. B. C. This autumn it will make the time of clearing leaves and garden pieces very short.‎ ‎ High performance ‎ The 36V Lithium-ion Gtech Leaf Blower has the ability to clear pieces from your lawn, courtyard and driveway. The Leaf Blower uses a turbofan (涡轮风扇发动机) design that allows for a straight air passage from intake to outlet (出口), offering maximum airflow and efficiency that turn the fan at 11,500 times a minute.‎ ‎ Complete control ‎ The Gtech Leaf Blower is lightweight, at just 4.3 kg. It has been designed so that the battery and product weight are reasonably distributed. When in use, it will naturally point towards the ground to direct the airflow. Therefore, you won’t have to worry about injuring your wrists, even if you use it for an entire 20-minute run-time with full power. The variable trigger (扳机) allows for complete control – when you squeeze or release the trigger you will feel the airflow change to suit your garden needs.‎ ‎ Easy to use ‎ The Gtech Leaf Blower is easy to use. There is no need to pull wires or top it up with fuel, so simply attach the battery and pull the trigger to start. The product’s wireless convenience means there are no wires to trip you up or limit your access, and no petrol to store up or pour – simply charge it and it’s ready to go. When you’re done, you can remove the detachable nozzle (管口), so the Gtech Leaf Blower is compact enough to be stored in small places.‎ ‎ Don’t just take our word for it We really do care what you think. Therefore, bullying must be stopped.‎ The best and most obvious way to stop bullying in schools is for parents to change the way they raise their children at home. Of course, this is much easier said than done and everyone raises their children differently. Bullies, however, come from homes where physical punishment is used and children have been taught that physical violence is the way to handle problems and “get their way”. Bullies usually also come from homes where the parents fight a lot, so children have been modeled on such violence. Parental involvement is often lacking in bullies’ lives and there seems to be little warmth.‎ Early intervention (干预) is truly the best way to stop bullying, but parents of the victims or therapists(治疗师) can’t alter the bully’s home environment. Some things can be done at the school level, however. Most school programs that address bullying apply a multi-faceted(多层面的) method to the problem.‎ Hand out questionnaires to all students and teachers and discuss if bullying is occurring. Define exactly what constitutes(构成) bullying at school. The questionnaire is a ‎ wonderful tool that allows the school to see how widespread bullying is and what forms it is taking. It is a good way to start to solve the problem.‎ Get the children’s parents involved in a bullying program. If parents of the bullies and the victims are not aware of what is going on at school, then the whole bullying program will not be effective. Stopping bullying in school takes teamwork and concentrated effort on everyone’s part. Bullying also should be discussed during parent-teacher conferences and PTA meetings. Parental awareness is the key.‎ In the classroom setting, all teachers should work with the students on bullying. ‎ Oftentimes even the teacher is being bullied in the classroom and a program should be set up to teach about bullying. Children understand modeling behaviors and role-play and acting out bullying situations is a very effective tool. Have students role-play a bullying situation.‎ ‎4.In the author’s opinion, bullies usually _____________.‎ A. Have extremely high self-esteem B. know little of the harm of violence C.Look forward to parental involvement D. experience or witness violence at ‎ home ‎5.What does the underlined word “alter” in paragraph 3 mean?‎ A. Understand B. change C. remove D. approach ‎6.Paragraph 5 suggests that it’s important to ______________.‎ A.make a punishment program effective B. let parents know their children are bullies C. find the key to improving security at school D. make parents conscious of bullying ‎ ‎ at school ‎7. What is the passage mainly about?‎ A. How to stop bullying in school. B. What leads to violence in schools.‎ C. What parents can do to stop bullying. D. How to comfort those who are bullied. ‎ C Gwendolyn Brooks was the first African American to win a Pulitzer Prize for Poetry. Gwendolyn Brooks wrote hundreds of poems during her lifetime. She was known around the world for using poetry to increase understanding about black culture in America.‎ Her poems described conditions among the poor, racial inequality and drug use in the black community. She also wrote poems about the struggles of black women. But her skill was more than her ability to write about struggling black people. She was an expert at the language of poetry. She combined traditional European poetry styles with the African American experience.‎ In her early poetry, Gwendolyn Brooks wrote about the South Side of Chicago. The South Side of Chicago is where many back people live. In her poems, the South Side is called Bronzeville. It was A Street in Bronzeville that gained the attention of literary experts in 1945. Although you were initially grateful just to have the work, you now feel bored and depressed. Is there any way to change that? ‎ Start by changing your opinion, says Caitlin Kelly, the author of Malled, a book based on her experience as a sales clerk after losing her job in journalism. “Don’t focus on what you’re not getting but what you are getting,” she says. “Be patient and work attentively with a wide range of people. It doesn’t matter what the job is –there are always things you can learn and skills you can develop.” ‎ Hilary Pearl, the founder of a coaching firm, says, “Tell yourself the current situation isn’t the end of your career. Don’t overdramatize(过分夸大)the negative aspects but try to view the situation more philosophically: life has a series of stages, and this is one of them. Don’t forget to study even in the worst stage.” ‎ Consider that because you’re overqualified, you may be able to learn or do things on the job that might not have been possible. ‎ Of course, you may seek tasks and responsibilities that force you to learn something new or to work harder. “You may be operating on autopilot(习惯性地)right now, but chances are that people above you are stressed,” Sarah Hathorn says. “ Take things off your boss’s plate and let him know which projects or tasks you want to learn more about.” ‎ Always express your request positively, saying that you love new challenges, rather than complaining that you’re bored and underused, says Ethun, the president of the Park Avenue Group. In your down time, educate yourself about the company and its industry. “Read corporate information, analyst reports and related news articles,” she says. “If your boss accepts your suggestions, it will make you a more valuable employee.”‎ ‎12.According to Caitlin Kelly, ______.‎ A. one should be willing to do some small things B. being a salesman is not as important as being a journalist C. performing your regular duties well is important D. doing a simple job well will bring you a sense of success ‎13.What Hilary Pearl intends to express is that ______.‎ A. work is just a stage of our whole ‎ life B. the present job doesn’t matter to us in a long run C. one should be satisfied with his present situation D. one should look forward instead of complaining about the present situation ‎14.The underlined words “take things off your boss’s plate” mean______.‎ A. draw your boss’s attention B. share your boss’s burdens C. give your boss useful advice D. ask your boss for a better position ‎15.What is the common view about careers of the people mentioned in this passage?‎ A. One should start his career from doing a simple job. B. One should improve himself and help others as well. C. One should keep learning new things to improve himself. D. One should pay much attention to the relationship with the boss.‎ 第二节(共5小题;每题2分,满分10分)‎ 根据短文内容,从短文中的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,选项中有两项为多余项。 Some Steps for Breaking Through Your Comfort Zone ‎ A comfort zone is a self-imposed boundary where a person will refuse to push past. To break through your comfort zone you need to first educate yourself. Your goal here is to find out about whatever skill you're pursuing. You'll talk to people who have done the same thing.   16 . And you'll check out articles on the Internet about this subject.‎ ‎ Have a plan. After educating yourself it's important to create a plan of action. With this step you're going to write down a step by step blueprint for how you're going to break through your comfort zone. 17 . Then you create a plan to get to each level. In this plan you need to create benchmarks. These are mini goals that put you one step close to pushing past your comfort zone.‎ ‎ 18 . This is an important step because the people in your life will keep you on track. You want them to give you that “push” as you're pushing your boundaries. They will make it hard for you to quit because you know you'll look foolish if you did.‎ ‎ Remain positive. There will be times when you experience a negative outcome, something that shakes your confidence and makes you feel scared. The trick is to not let anything prevent you from blasting past the point of comfort. Recognize that you will have negative outcomes.   19 .‎ ‎ Keep expanding your comfort zone.  20 . Find stuff that you never imagined you would do. Like teaching a class on the subject that once filled you with fear. Or you could work on a related skill.‎ A. Look for new challenges.‎ B. You can't become an overnight success.‎ C. Have people around you know of your plan. ‎ D. You first start with the easiest thing to do. ‎ E. It's a natural part of the process.‎ F. You won't have time to think about your fear.‎ G.
