One of the main reasons why human cloning turns out to be a debatable affair is that it would allow people to clone themselves. Just imagine that you could get a twin by cloning yourself. Parents may get tempted to clone their dead child. Some may think of cloning Einstein or Usain Bolt and give rise to a league of super humans or super sportsmen. Those against humanity may give rise to clones of the famous villains(恶棍)in history. The idea of having a clone sounds pretty attractive, right?
It has been found that the production of clone tissue is helpful in making aging people look young. According to Dr. Richard Seed, one of the leading supporters of human cloning technology, one day it should be possible to reverse(逆转) the aging process.
Today, heart attack is the number one killer in the developed as well as developing countries. Scientists believe that by cloning healthy heart cells and injecting them into the damaged heart area, they can treat heart attacks.
By switching cells on and off through cloning, it has been found that cancer can be cured. The phenomenon of cells differentiating(分化) into specific kinds of tissue was baffling the scientists. Cloning may hold the key in making them understand differentiation and cancer. Down’s syndrome, liver failure, kidney failure, spinal cord injury and genetic diseases can also be cured by cloning.
The success stories of human cloning and creating tissue cells have happened in different parts of the world. People have also been treated with the technology and have started realizing some benefits of cloning. The response and the feedback the Human Cloning Foundation has been getting are testaments (证据) to the popularity this form of science gains all over the world. However, many countries have not accepted this. Human cloning has not been given the legal status in many countries. However, the stem cell research has been accepted by some governments.
25. The author’s attitude to human cloning is___________.
A. supportive B. objective
C. concerned D. critical
26. What does the underlined word “baffling” most probably mean in Paragraph4?
A. Confusing. B. Pleasing.
C. Exciting. D. Threatening.
27. It can be concluded from the last paragraph that ____________.
A. cloning has become a successful technology
B. cloning hasn’t been accepted by human beings
C. not all countries have accepted human cloning
D. the stem cell research has succeeded entirely
28. What does the passage mainly talk about?
A. Benefits of Human Cloning
B. Development of Human Cloning
C. Meaning of Human Cloning
D. Future of Human Cloning

Younger students experience school bullying (欺凌) more frequently than older ones, and male students are bullied more than their female peers, a survey found.
It also found that nearly half of students had been intentionally hit or knocked down by classmates. About 6 percent said they are targeted by bullies on campus every day. The survey also found that students from ordinary schools experienced more bullying than peers from key institutions, and children from poor families are more likely to be bullied at school.
Being bullied can have a negative impact on a child’s personal development and academic performance, according to Zhou Jinyan, a researcher who led the study at Beijing Normal University. “Children being bullied will find it hard to trust others,” Zhou said. “They may often feel anxiety, anger, resentment or depression. These emotions will further undermine their ability to control their own life.”
In recent years, bullying on Chinese campuses has been frequently reported and has attracted widespread attention and concern. The most recent incident to arouse heated discussions took place in December at Beijing’s Zhongguancun No.2 Primary School. A fourth-grade student was bullied and laughed at by classmates, causing him acute stress disorder.
The Supreme People’s Procurator ate (最高人民检察院) received about 1,900 cases related to school bullying in 2016. Meanwhile, there was a notable increase in bullying reports involving middle school students from 14 to 18 years old.
Zhou came up with some ways to solve the problem, including boosting communication between teachers, parents and students and trying to establish more harmonious relationships among children. She said it was strongly suggested that parents try to be involved in their children’s educational experience, as their presence and companionship have proved effective in reducing bullying and its negative effects.
29. Who is the most likely to become the target of bullying?
A. A 17-year-old boy from a rich family
B. A 17-year-old girl from an ordinary school
C. A 10-year-old girl from a key school
D. A 10-year-old boy from a poor family
30. Being bullied will cause students to go through the following EXCEPT _____.
A. a lack of trust in other people
B. a drop in the sense of depression
C. a drop in academic performance
D. a lack of confidence in themselves
31. We can learn from the text that _____.
A. bullying at school usually leads to acute stress disorder
B. students who enjoy parents’ companionship will be bullying-free
C. bullying on campus has been brought into sharp focus by the media
D. the government should consider taking further action against bullying at school
D
Are you at least 17 years old? Do you weigh more than 110 pounds? Do you consider yourself fairly healthy?
If you answered yes to all of these questions, you should be donating blood every two months. In my survey of my schoolmates, I found that only 50 percent of them have ever donated blood and that only 1 out of 13 of them donates regularly. The lack of blood donors is a serious problem that requires immediate action.
According to the American Red Cross Web pages, in the United States alone someone receives a transfusion(输血) once every three seconds. People who benefit from donations include cancer patients as well as babies. The need for blood never takes a vacation and neither should donors.
Let me tell you about Brooke, a three-year-old girl with cancer. Brooke has spent about half of her life in the hospital receiving treatments. Her treatment will require about 500 units of blood in total, of which only 250 units have been replaced. She still needs the other half of the total
amount to continue her treatment. If she doesn’t receive this blood, she will not live to start kindergarten.
Examples like Brooke’s are becoming all too common these days, with only 1 in 20 Americans donating blood and this number keeps dropping each year. These facts are extremely worrying considering that nearly half of us here will need blood sometime in our lives.
You can now see the seriousness of the problem with the lack of blood donations. Fortunately, it is a problem that can be easily solved. Each and every one of you can be part of the solution. All you have to do is go to the nearest Red Cross and donate your blood.
32. How does the author explain the problem mentioned in Paragraph 2 ?
A. By presenting research findings.
B. By making comparisons.
C. By answering questions.
D. By describing his own experiences.
33. What can we learn from the American Red Cross Web pages?
A. The suffering of patients.
B. The strong need for blood.
C. The efforts of the Red Cross.
D. The benefits of taking vacations.
34. The three-year-old girl Brooke________.
A. doesn’t get fair treatment in the hospital
B. can't wait to start kindergarten
C. stays alive by receiving blood daily
D. will need another 250 units of blood
35. What is the purpose of the text?
A. To call on people to save a little girl.
B. To present some new medical results.
C. To persuade people to donate blood.
D. To explain the risks of blood donation.

Weight loss is a hard topic. Lots of people aren't satisfied with their present weight, but most people aren't sure how to change it. You may want to look like the models or actors in magazines or on TV, but those goals might not be healthy or realistic for you. 36
So what should you do about your weight control?
37 The best way to find out if you are at a healthy weight or if you need to lose or gain weight is to talk to a doctor or dietitian(营养学家) 38 If it turns out that you can benefit from weight loss then you can follow a few of the simple suggestions listed below to get started.

It's a good idea to maintain a healthy weight because it's just that healthy.
A. Try giving up regular soda for a week.
B. Try to pay attention as you eat and stop when you are full.
C. Being healthy is really about being at a weight that is right for you.
D. Weight management is about long-term success.
E. Besides, no magical diet will make you look like someone else.

A CCTV journalist succeeded in arousing a heated discussion among citizens by asking people 61 they were happy. The responses to the question were 62 (variety), even some quite funny ones included. Although people played jokes on the answers, it did not
take long 63 they began to figure out the true meanings of happiness.
It is certain that people’s views on happiness 64 (affect) greatly by their own life experience. Unfortunately, too many people refer to being rich as happiness and there is no sign of 65 decrease in the number of those who are voluntarily at the mercy of wealth. Some people whose intention is 66 (make) big money appreciate being given any chance to multiply their income, believing that is 67 their happiness lies. Some are eager to inherit their parents’ property, especially those who 68 (be) known as silver-spoon kids. Even worse, some would rather break the law to satisfy their financial desire or seek their fortune 69 (legal).

natural beauty.Instead,we should help to protect the natural beauty.” The son said, “I will follow what you have just told me,Mom.” The mother said, “Let me know what you have learnt today.” Her son explained, “We should protect all living beings, whether they are animals or plants. We should never harm them.Disturbing nature is harmful. It may harm the human beings in the long term.”
