‎2019届高考英语全真模拟猜题卷(九)‎ ‎1、    Everyone should be so lucky as to have a friend like Francia Raisa. On Thursday, singer and actress Selena Gomez, 25, used Instagram to explain why she was “laying low” this summer. She posted a photo of herself in a hospital bed with her friend Francia Raisa holding hands. She said she recently received a kidney transplant from her best friend because of complications(并发症) from lupus(狼疮), an autoimmune disease, which means it is the result of the immune system attacking normal tissue, including the kidneys, brain, heart and lungs.‎ ‎    People with lupus may first experience tiredness, joint pain or a little bit of rash(皮疹) on their bodies and can go for a long time before their doctors realize it is more serious. Many people see two or four doctors before the real problem is picked up. According to Dr. Kyriakos Kirou, roughly a third to one-half of people with lupus develop kidney disease, and up to one in five of them will eventually need a transplant, sometimes because they weren’t treated with effective drugs to prevent the immune system from attacking the kidneys. Though Gomez said that she was “very well now,” she warned about the dangers of not taking medical diagnoses seriously, like she initially did.‎ ‎    Her Instagram post also called attention to two major health topics: the need for living organ donators and the fact that Gomez represents three groups more likely to be diagnosed with lupus and lupus-related kidney disease. Nine out of 10 people diagnosed with lupus are women, and most develop the disease between the ages of 15 to 44. And lupus is two to three times more common among women of color, including Hispanic women, according to the Lupus Foundation.‎ ‎    Raisa is Latina, and Gomez’s father is of Mexican origin. While it’s not essential that the organ donator and receiver be of the same ethnicity, people who share a similar background sometimes are better matched, according to data from the United Network for Organ Sharing.‎ ‎1.What can we learn about Francia Raisa?‎ A.She is lucky.‎ B.She is selfless.‎ C.She is optimistic.‎ D.She is encouraging.‎ ‎2.What is lupus like at its early stage?‎ A.It is deadly.‎ B.It is hard to recognize.‎ C.Its symptoms are psychological.‎ D.It reminds you of a kidney disease.‎ ‎3.What does the underlined word “them” in Paragraph 2 refer to?‎ A.People with lupus.‎ B.Colored women lupus patients.‎ C.Lupus patients with kidney disease.‎ D.Women between the ages of 15 to 44.‎ ‎4.What does the last paragraph mainly tell us?‎ A.Raisa and Gomez have a similar background.‎ B.Gomez has fully recovered thanks to the kidney from Raisa.‎ C.It is vital for the donator and receiver to be of the same race.‎ D.The organ from the donator of the same race matches the receiver better ‎2、    A bargain is something offered at a low and advantageous price. A more recent definition is: a bargain is a dirty trick to force money out of the pockets of silly and innocent people.‎ ‎    The cost of producing a new ---for example --- toothpaste would make 80p the proper price for it, so we will market it at £1.20. It is not a bad toothpaste, and as people like to try new things it will sell well to start with; but the attraction of novelty soon fades, so sales will fall. When that ‎ happens we will reduce the price to £1.15. And we will turn it into a bargain by printing 5p OFF all over it.‎ ‎    Sometimes it is not 5p OFF but 1p OFF. What breathtaking rudeness to advertise 1p OFF your soap or washing powder or whatever! Even the poorest old-age pensioner ought to regard this as an insult(侮辱), but he doesn’t. A bargain must not be missed. People say one has to have washing powder (or whatever) and one might as well buy it a penny cheaper.‎ ‎     The real danger starts when unnecessary things become ‘bargains’. Many people just cannot resist bargains. Provided they think they are getting a bargain they will buy clothes they will never wear or furniture they have no space for. Once I heard of a man who bought an electric saw(电锯) as a bargain and cut off two of his fingers the next day. But he had no regrets: the saw had been truly cheap.‎ ‎    Quite a few people actually believe that they make money on such bargains. A lady once told me: “I’ve had a lucky day today. I bought a dress for £120, reduced from £400; and I bought a beautiful Persian carpet for £600, reduced from £900.” It will never occur to her that she has actually wasted £720. She feels as though she had made £580. She also feels, I am sure, that if she had more time for shopping, she could make a living out of it.‎ ‎    Some people buy in large quantities because it is cheaper. Once a couple bought enough sugar for their lifetime and the lifetime of their children and grandchildren. They thought it a bargain not to be missed. When the sugar arrived they didn’t know where to store it – until they realized that their toilet was a very spacious one. So that was where they piled up their sugar. Not only did their guests feel rather strange whenever they were offered sugar to put into their coffee, but the toilet became extremely sticky.‎ ‎    To offer bargains is a commercial trick to make the poor poorer. When greedy fools fall for this trick, it serves them right.‎ ‎1.What does the underlined word “novelty” in Paragraph 2 probably mean?‎ A.Good quality.‎ B.Low price.‎ C.Curiosity.‎ D.Newness.‎ ‎2.Which word best describes the language style of the passage?‎ A.Polite.‎ B.Foolish.‎ C.Humorous.‎ D.Serious.‎ ‎3.How does the author feel about 1p OFF a product?‎ A.It’s a gift for poor people.‎ B.It’s an insult to shoppers.‎ C.It’s a bargain worth trying.‎ D.It’s a real reduction in price.‎ ‎4.Which statement will the author probably agree with?‎ A.Bargains are things people don’t really need.‎ B.Bargains are often real cheap products.‎ C.Bargains help people make a living.‎ D.Bargains play tricks on people.‎ ‎3、    The UK is divided up into smaller regions called “counties”. Devon is one in the southwest of England. It is a really great place to take a holiday, and today I will tell you why I think Devon is such a great place.‎ ‎    First,it’s on the coast. This means you can spend plenty of time on the beach, which is good if it is sunny. Of course, you should take an umbrella to the beach as well, just in case it rains —which is quite likely during the British summer! But even if it’s raining, there’s still a lot to do in Devon. There are loads of very pretty towns,so you can easily spend a day looking at the shops, finding a place to eat some local fish and chips and enjoying an ice cream at the end of your day. If you have a sweet tooth, you will be pleased to know that Devon is famous for its fudge and cream teas.‎ ‎    If you re interested in history, you will find plenty of castles and old houses to visits where ancient kings and queens once lived. Devon is also great if you enjoy spending time outdoors because you will have plenty of opportunities for walking, hiking, cycling, and boating. Devon is rich in natural beauty due to its many hills, forests, beaches and bays. This is also an area by the sea where the cliffs have a different naturally red colour. Many people come to spend a day exploring the rocks. If you are lucky, you can find fossils(化石) of prehistoric animals in the rocks or washed up on the beaches. Isn't that amazing?! There are also many museums describing the dinosaurs which moved about this land millions of years ago. Overall, I think Devon is a great place for a holiday. No matter what age you are, Devon is well worth a visit!‎ ‎1.What’s the writer’s purpose of writing the text?‎ A.To attract readers to visit England.‎ B.To express the writer's love to Devon.‎ C.To tell readers Devon is a great place for a holiday.‎ D.To introduce the reasons why he likes taking a holiday.‎ ‎2.According to Para. 2, we can know fudge is likely to be ________.‎ A.salty food B.sweet candy C.black coffee D.fish soup ‎3.The castles and old houses are worth visiting because __________.‎ A.you are interested in history B.you can find good places to live C.ancient kings and queens ever lived there D.they are rich in the beauty of ancient buildings ‎4.Which of the following about Devon is NOT mentioned in the text?‎ A.Natural beauty.‎ B.Food.‎ C.Population.‎ D.Geography.‎ ‎4、    “How do you account for your remarkable achievements in life?”Queen Victoria of the UK asked Helen Keller.“How do you explain the fact that even though you were both blind and deaf, you were able to achieve so much?”‎ ‎    Ms. Keller's answer is a tribute (致敬) to her kind teacher. “If it had not been for Anne Sullivan, the name of Helen Keller would have remained unknown.”‎ ‎    According to American speaker Zig Ziglar,Anne Sullivan was no stranger to hardship. She was almost sightless and was,at one time, diagnosed as hopelessly “insane” by her caregivers. She was locked in the basement of a mental institution. Occasionally,Anne would violently attack anyone who came near. Most of the time she generally ignored everyone in her presence.‎ ‎    An elderly nurse believed there was hope, however, and she made it her work to show love to the child. Every day she visited Anne, and she left cookies for her and spoke words of love and encouragement. She believed Anne could recover,if only she were shown love.‎ ‎    Eventually, doctors noticed the change in the girl. Where they once witnessed anger and hate, they now noted gentleness and love. They moved her upstairs where she continued to improve. Then the day finally came when this seemingly “hopeless” child was released.‎ ‎    Anne Sullivan grew into a young woman with a desire to help others as she, herself, was helped by the kind nurse. It was she who saw the great potential in Helen Keller. She loved her, disciplined(管教)her, played with her, pushed her and worked with her until the flickering candle that was her life became a beacon(灯塔)of light to the world. Anne Sullivan worked wonders in Helen's life;but it was a loving nurse who first believed in little Anne and lovingly transformed an uncommunicative child into a kind teacher.‎ ‎    “If it had not been for Anne Sullivan, the name of Helen Keller would have remained unknown.”But if it had not been for a kind and dedicated nurse, the name of Anne Sullivan would have remained unknown.‎ ‎1.What does the underlined part “account for” in Paragraph 1 probably mean?‎ A.show B.prove C.explain D.present ‎2.What do we know from the third paragraph?‎ A.Anne Sullivan had very normal behavior.‎ B.Anne Sullivan was ignored by everyone.‎ C.Anne Sullivan was kept away from her parents.‎ D.Anne Sullivan was believed to have a mental problem.‎ ‎3.What would be the best title for the text?‎ A.The Power of Love B.Making a Difference C.A Good Teacher D.Remarkable Achievements ‎5、Why Exercise Is Cool?‎ ‎1.Exercise Strengthens Muscles Did you ever do a push-up or swing across the monkey bars at the playground? ①__________By using your muscles to do powerful things, you can make them stronger. For older teens and adults, this kind of workout can make muscles bigger, too.‎ ‎2.②__________‎ Can you touch your toes easily without yelling ouch? Being flexible is having “full range of motion,” which means you can move your arms and legs freely without feeling tightness or pain.‎ ‎3. Exercise Keeps the Balance ‎③__________Your body needs a certain amount of calories every day just to function, breathe, walk around, and do all the basic stuff.④__________If you’re not very active, your body won’t need as many calories.‎ Whatever your calorie need is, if you eat enough to meet that need, your body weight will stay about the same. If you eat more calories than your body needs, it may be stored as extra fat.‎ ‎4. Exercise Makes You Feel Good It feels good to have a strong, flexible body that can do all the activities you enjoy—like running, jumping, and playing with your friends. It’s also fun to be good at something, like scoring a basket, hitting a home run, or perfecting a dive.‎ But you may not know that exercising can actually put you in a better mood.⑤__________It’s just another reason why exercise is cool!‎ A.So you want to do some aerobic (有氧的) exercise right now?‎ B.Food gives your body fuel in the form of calories, which are a kind of energy.‎ C.When you exercise, your brain releases a chemical, which may make you feel happier.‎ D.Those are exercises that can build strength.‎ E. She was locked in the basement of a mental institution. Occasionally, Anne would violently attack anyone who came near相悖;B项表示Anne Sullivan被大家都忽略了,这与下文中提到的护士对她的关爱不符;C项表示Anne Sullivan远离她的父母,文章中并没有提到,故排除。‎ ‎3. Did you ever do a push-up or swing across the monkey bars at the playground?By using your muscles to do powerful things, you can make them stronger. Can you touch your toes easily without yelling ouch? Most kids are pretty flexible 锻炼能使身体灵活,故选E。 Your body needs a certain amount of calories every day just to function,食物能给人一定的热量,故选B。 If you’re not very active, your body won’t need as many calories. But you may not know that exercising can actually put you in a better mood. 1.C; 2.A; 3.D; 4.B; 5.C; 6.A; 7.D; 8.B; 9.C; 10.A; 11.D; 12.B; 13.C; 14.A; 15.D; 16.B; 17.A; 18.C; 19.D; 20.B 解析:1.根据 As the volunteer coordinator 可知,作者负责(responsible)协调工作。 anxious “焦急的”; famous“著名的”; suitable “合适的”。‎ ‎2. ‎ ‎4.依据 the phone rang 和 to see if there were still any positions for her son Jake 可知, Kimberly 是在打电话(calling)。‎ ‎5. ‎ ‎6.联系空后的“it would be for Jake to have something to 7 since he’d been diagnosed(诊断) with cancer.” ‎ ‎7.联系前文的 expecting a(n) 5 (chance) of coming to help,并结合本句意思可知Jake得了癌症,在家无事可做,他很想找件事做(do)。‎ ‎8.根据 because there were no more positions 可知,作者不得不遗憾(regretted)地说他为Jake找不到任何事做。‎ ‎9.从空后的 because there were no more positions 可知,作者几乎给他提供不了工作(work)。‎ ‎10.根据后文“ 11 (If) I have to lift one more kid on one more horse,I may die. ”可知,Mark 很疲倦(tired)。‎ ‎11.联系空后的 I have to lift one more kid on one more horse, ‎ ‎12.结合空后的“need another one with a strong back, even if it’s just for a couple of hours”可知,Mark 的工作太累人,他确实(really)需要一名志愿者帮忙。‎ ‎13. Jake 15 with his back to me on the platform 可知,Jake 是帮(help)Mark 做事。praise“赞扬";call “打电话”;instruct“教育;指导”。‎ ‎15.依据空后的 with his back to me on the platform 可知, Jake背对着作者坐(sat)在平台上。‎ ‎16.联系前文的 Another volunteer waved at me 可知,另一个志愿者向作者挥手时,Jake转过身(turned around) 来。turn up“调高;出现”;turn off “关闭”;turn out“结果是”。‎ ‎17.从空后的and smiled可知,过了一会儿,Jake认出(recognized)了作者。‎ ‎18.根据“Thank you for getting me this 19 (job).”可判断他非常激动(excitedly)。‎ ‎19.结合空前的“Thank you for getting me...”可知,Jake 感谢作者给了他这次工作(job)的机会。‎ ‎20.联系前面的“Mark says I’m doing a good job. ”及 and also可推断出Jake的妈妈为他感到骄傲(proud)。 ‎ ‎7答案:wearing; had bought; pleased; the; If; harder; which; for; what; them 解析:1.wearing    因句子已有谓语动词appear,动词wear前又没有并列连词,即wear不是并列谓语,它应是非谓语动词,作状语,表示伴随情况;又因he与wear是主动关系,故用现在分词形式。‎ ‎2.had bought    在主格人称代词he后,显然是作谓语;又因他不可能是买下了这所学校,故应用虚拟语气,与过去事实相反,故填had bought。‎ ‎3.pleased    在系动词feel后作表语,用形容词,表示“高兴的”。‎ ‎4.the   表示顺序的词前用定冠词。‎ ‎5.If    因he thought... Last Sunday morning, when I was having a walk in the park near my home, I came across a crew  a new film with one of my favorite . I didn’t have my camera with me at that time,  I rushed back home to get . Unfortunately, by the time I got back, they  finished the scene and the actor couldn’t be seen . I was really  and about to leave when he walked out a building. He was right there in the front of me! I couldn’t believe my luck—not only did I  my photo taken with him, but he signed his name on my shirt!‎ 解析:‎ ‎① 考查非谓语动词。此处是非谓语动词短语作补语,make和被修饰的名词crew之间是逻辑上的主动关系,所以应用现在分词形式。‎ ‎② 考查名同。one of后该接可数名词的复数形式,表示“……中的一个”。‎ ‎③ 考查连词。逗号前后不是转折关系,而是因果或者顺承关系。‎ ‎④ 考查代记。炉t意为“去取(或带来)”,是及物动词,其后应该接代词it,指代my camera。‎ ‎⑤ 考查动词的时。根据时间状语by the time I got back可知,此处应该用过去完成时。‎ ‎⑥ 考查副词。anywhere用于否定句时表示全部否定,符合语境. everywhere和否定词连用时表示部分否定,不符合语境。‎ ‎⑦ 考査形容词。disappointing用来形容事物;disappointed用来形容人。 此处表示“我感到非常失望”。‎ ‎⑧ 考查介词。walk out of a building意为“从一栋楼里走出来”。‎ ‎⑨ 考查冠词。in the front of意为“在 (内部)的前面”;in front of意为“在……(外部)的前面”。‎ ‎⑩ 考査谓语动词。此处为部分倒装,为一般过去时,把助动词did提到主语之前时,谓语动词应该用原形。 ‎ ‎9答案:‎ Dear Tom,‎ ‎    I’m Li Hua,a Senior Two student from Si Nan Senior High School.
