Has been a dream for 30 years but now the world’s first flying car is set to hit the roads this year.
Ever since the “Back to the Future” movies lit up our screens in the 1980s, designers have dreamt of cars that could take to the sky at the push of a button(按钮).And now pilots can order their own “roadable” plane for just£127, 000.
The plane, which has fold-out wings that span 17.5 feet, can be up to 115 mph.Back on the land, it can also travel at “highway speeds” in car mode(模式).
Fuelling(加燃料)the 19-foot-long plane couldn’t be simpler—you just drive it into a petrol station and fill it up.
A spokeswoman said, “You can keep your ‘light-sport airplane’ in your garage. But because it needs a short runway to take to the air, you will have to drive to your local airport, fly up to 460 miles, land and drive directly to your destination(目的地).You will always be ready to drive or fly.”
The spokeswoman added, “Never let bad weather change your trip. You can simply divert(使转向)and continue on the ground until the weather clears.”
There’s no risk to you—this is only the chance for you to be the first at your home field to unfold(展开)your wings and fly into the future.

Sunday: the final day of freedom; the last chance to catch your breath before another busy week starts.
Growing up in Singapore and spending a number of years in Britain, I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing Sundays in both countries. It may be the same day, but my, how different they are.
“Sun”-day: Friend or Foe?
One can easily tell Sundays in Singapore from those in Britain by observing the relationships each country has with the sun.
Singapore is a tropical (热带的) island with two seasons: rain and shine. When it rains, it’s hot. When it shines, it burns. This is why Singaporeans tend to spend their time indoors. These days, indoor recreational facilities (休闲设施) such as trampoline (蹦床) parks are gaining popularity among the younger generations.
We don’t hate the sun, but we don’t like it very much either.
In Britain, however, sunny days are seen as a treat.I remember making my way to the library one Sunday, only to be greeted by a group of college students outside, basking (晒太阳) in the sun as they wore their beach clothes.v And I wished I could have joined them: birds were singing, the air was filled with laughter, and everyone was in the best of moods (情绪).
With so few of them a year, it’s no surprise that young Britons try to take advantage of sunny Sundays as much as they can.
Sunday roast (烘烤)
This is by far one of the most British things about Britain – truly a tradition unlike any other. And it happens every weekend. This is a meal that’s usually served in the late afternoon, with roasted meat, roasted potatoes, and roasted or boiled (水煮的) vegetables.
Of course, we eat lunch and dinner in Singapore on Sunday, but nothing really compares to how they do it in Britain. The Sunday roast isn’t just about the food, it’s also about the company. It’s a time to strengthen (增强) the relationships between family and friends, while enjoying a piece of British tradition.
One way or another, whether you prefer trampolining or sunbathing, Sundays in either country do have their own special charm (魅力).
9.According to the article, ______.

B.Singapore’s climate is similar to that of the UK
C.British people enjoys outdoor activities on sunny days
D.indoor recreational activities are a trend in the UK
10.What can be concluded about the Sunday roast?
A.No vegetables are served. B.It’s held once a month.
C.Only family members are invited. D.It is a great chance to socialize.
11.The author wrote this article mainly to ______.
A.show her love for the British lifestyle
B.compare Sundays in Singapore and Britain
C.introduce popular Sunday activities for teenagers
D.show how weather influences people’s way of life

Finding the perfect fit
When it comes to shopping for clothes, my mother and I have always disagreed on what fits me well.
Perhaps it’s because of our age difference, but to me, if it zips (用拉锁拉上), it fits.My mom, however, usually tells me I need a bigger size.
When I was a teenager, I wanted to dress like my friends, but my body size made it impossible. When mom told me something didn’t suit me, or that I needed a bigger size, all I heard was that my body was wrong.
To avoid arguments, we stopped going shopping together. This continued until I got engaged (订婚) last year and needed to find a wedding dress (婚纱), and some clothes for my honeymoon.
As I came out of the fitting room, my mother looked at the top (上衣) I was trying on, and I knew what was coming.“You need a bigger size,” she said.
There was no bigger size.I put the top back and tried to hold back my tears. If we couldn’t agree on this, how were we going to survive shopping for a wedding dress?
I could have just bought it alone, of course, but my mom is my role model (行为榜样) and my favorite person to hang out with. The idea of looking for a wedding dress without her seemed just as scary as taking her with me.
And so the day came.As I tried on a simple white dress, I saw tears in my mom’s eyes.“You look beautiful,” she told me.Nothing could have shocked me more.
This one didn’t zip up at the back and I did actually need a bigger size, but my mother didn’t say that. She just told me how beautiful I looked. In that moment, all those arguments we’d had while shopping in the past were laid to rest.We didn’t buy a dress that day.We decided to see more, which I would never have predicted (预见).
A few weeks and many shopping trips later, we found the perfect dress. We both loved it as soon as I put it on, and I can’t wait to wear it at my wedding.
And during those few weeks, mom and I also found the perfect fit for our shopping relationship.
12.We can know from the first three paragraphs that the author______.

mother

A.knew she would find the perfect wedding dress
B.was surprised by what her mother said to her
C.argued with her mother over the size of the clothes
D.became worried about the next shopping trips with her mother
14.For the author, in a perfect shopping relationship, ______.
A.she is always praised B.she feels she is needed
C.she feels supported and valued D.there are no disagreements at all
15.The author wrote this article mainly to ______.
A.give advice on how to get along with parents
B.stress the importance of wearing suitable clothes
C.describe the benefits of shopping with other people
D.show how she and her mother found a way to shop together
