Li Zhen reports on shoppers’ reactions in Shanghai. An investigation by the municipal government revealed that Shanghai Shenglu Food Company produced more than 3,000 steamed buns daily. These were then sold across the city, including large supermarkets such as Hualian, Lianhua and Dia. Fewer steamed buns were for sale at this Lianhua Supermarket. More than 32,000 buns were taken off store shelves when the scandal emerged. Mr. Wang, Sales Manager of Lianhua Supermarket, said, “We removed the dyed steamed buns produced by Shenglu as soon as we learned of the incident. We gave customers who had bought the steamed buns from our outlets refunds with their receipts. Despite the scandal, our sales volume has been fine so far.” However, most customers we met remained concerned about food safety. Steamed buns are a regular breakfast food for Ms. Gao. She used to buy them mostly from supermarkets because she felt it was in a clean and safe environment. But now, she has second thoughts about buying the popular snack. Ms. Gao, Shanghai shopper, said, “I can’t believe that even steamed buns from the supermarkets are no longer safe. The only places I trusted to shop at were major supermarkets and specialist shops. But now even there, product quality cannot be guaranteed. I really don't know where to buy my goods from in the future. Shoppers at supermarkets who still bought steamed buns said they had few options. “I feel like giving up supermarkets. But I really don’t know where to do my food shopping. I can't make these things myself.” said Ms. Tang, Shanghai shopper. 36. The colored buns were sold in some large supermarkets EXCEPT ______. A. Hualian B. Lianhua C. Shenglu D. Dia 37. Dyed bun scandal hurts consumers’ confidence. 40. Where can you most probably read the passage? A. In a fashion magazine. B. In a newspaper. C. In a guideline book. D. In an official document. B US researchers have found traces of an ancient lake on Mars recently, increasing hopes of discovering evidence that billions of years ago the Red planet hosted life. The lake, which dates back some 3.4 billion years, appears to have covered as much as 80 square miles and was up to 1,500 feet deep, said the team from the University of Colorado. "This is the first clear evidence of shorelines on the surface of Mars," said Boulder's research associate, Gaetano Di Achille, in a study published in the latest edition of Geophysical Research Letters. "The identification of the shorelines and accompanying geological evidence allows us to calculate the size and volume of the lake, which appears to have formed about 3.4 billion years ago." Analysis of the images has shown the water carved out the canyon (溪谷) in which it was found, which then opened out into a valley depositing (使淤积) sediment (沉积) which formed a delta (三角洲). "Finding shorelines is a great discovery to us," said assistant professor Brian Hynek, adding it showed the lake existed at a time when Mars was thought to have been cold and dry. Scientists believe the oldest surfaces on Mars formed during the wet and warm era known as the Noachan epoch, about 4.1 billion to 3.7 billion years ago. The newly discovered lake is believed to date from the Hesperian era and postdates the end of the warm and wet period on Mars by 300 million years, according to the study. Scientists believe deltas next to the lake may well hold secrets about past life on Mars as such places on Earth have become the natural deposits of organic carbon and other markers of life. 41. The size of the lake found on Mars is ______. A. 80 square miles B. 1,500 square miles C. 3.4 billion square miles D. 300 million square miles 42. When the lake existed, the weather on Mars was ____. A. hot and wet B. wet and warm C. cold and dry D. cold and wet 43. Why do scientists think deltas near the lake may hold secrets about past life on Mars? A. Because similar places on Earth have become natural deposits of markers of life. B. Because someone has put secrets about past life on Mars there. C. Because past life has been found in other deltas on Mars. D. Because some people are said to have already seen life marks there. 44. How many researchers does the passage mention? A. Two. B. Three. C. Four. D. Five. 45. Which of the following statements is NOT true according to the passage? A. The Noachan epoch was a wet and warm era. B. The lake might have existed 3.4 billion years. C. The discovery can’t fully prove that the Mars once hosted life. D. The lake traces prove that there exists life on Mars now. C You wake up in the morning, the day is beautiful and the plans for the day are what you have been looking forward to for a long time. Then the telephone rings, you say hello, and the drama starts. The person on the other end has a depressing tone in his voice as he starts to tell you how terrible his morning is and that there is nothing to look forward to.You are still in a wonderful mood? Impossible! Communicating with negative people can wash out your happiness. It may not change what you think, but communicating long enough with them will make you feel depressed for a moment or a long time. Life brings ups and downs, but some people are stuck in the wrong idea that life has no happiness to offer. They only feel glad when they make others feel bad.No wonder they can hardly win others’ pity or respect. When you communicate with positive people, your spirit stays happy and therefore more positive things are attracted. When the dagger(匕首) of a negative person is put in you,you feel the heavy feeling that all in all, brings you down. Sometimes we have no choice but to communicate with negative people. This could be a co-worker,or a relative. In this case, say what needs to be said as little as possible. Sometimes it feels good to let out your anger back to the negative person, but all this does is to lower you to that same negative level and they won’t feel ashamed of themselves about that. Negativity often affects happiness without even being realized. The negative words of another at the start of the day can cling to(附着) you throughout the rest of your day, which makes you feel bad and steals your happiness.Life is too short to feel negative.Stay positive and avoid negativity as much as possible. 46. The purpose of the first paragraph is to ______. A. make a comparison B. offer an evidence C. introduce a topic D. describe a daily scene 47. How can negative people have effect on us? A. By influencing our emotion. B. By telling us the nature of life. C. By changing our ways of thinking. D. By comparing their attitudes to life with ours. 48. Some negative people base their happiness on _______. A. other people’s pity for them B. making other people unhappy C. building up a positive attitude D. other people’s respect for them 49. According to the passage, to reduce negative people’s influence on us,we are advised to ______. A. change negative people’s attitudes to life B. show our dissatisfaction to negative people C. make negative people feel ashamed of themselves D. communicate with negative people as little as possible 50. What is the author’s attitude towards negative people? A. Favorable. B. Critical. C. Indifferent. D. Supportive. D I once had a friend that was diagnosed with terminal cancer, and the news that he might only live up to six months was a great shock to him, his family, and his friends. However, in spite of the serious illness, he was initially determined to look into all available treatments that might cure or extend his life. I think that when you find yourself in such situations, you tend to look up every possible way for hope of saving your life. As months went on and his health grew worse, I noticed an unexpected change in attitude that came over him. He had also been a happy person with a cheerful personality, but rather than give in to discouragement and self-pity, he took comfort in God and humanity. His talks focused on others rather than himself, and he spoke of the afterlife as something he was prepared for, believing that his concerned ancestors, including his mother and father, were there waiting for him. During the last few months, weeks, and days of his life, he was kindly cared for by family, friends, his loving wife, who looked after both his physical and emotional needs, and workers from a local hospice (安养院) came to the home to regulate his medication and provide any other needed support. He didn't complain about his fate, and he willingly allowed others to serve him. Indeed, one might think why God allows death and suffering in our world, but for me, such experiences taught me to value family more and kindness for others. You often can't learn these important attributes in the lap of luxury, and perhaps, such an experience is the greatest and final gift the illness can give those left behind. 51. Which word can best describe the man's initial reaction as soon as he was diagnosed with cancer? A. Satisfied. B. Surprised. C. Terrified. D. Confused. 52. What did the man do after he first learned of his illness? A. He was operated on immediately. B. He retired from his job. C. He researched cancer treatments. D. He felt sad, doing nothing. 53. What was the man's main source of comfort after several months with the disease? A. His family and friends. B. His belief in humanity. C. His doctors’ encouragement. D. The care from others. 54. What did the author learn from his friend’s story? A. Giving more respect to friends. B. Extending life as possible. C. Caring for yourself and enjoying luxury. D. Getting comfort from God. 55. What does the author mainly want to tell? A. All people will face death, and thus, we must prepare for it spiritually. B. Our characters can be strengthened by such an unpleasant situation. C. Families provide the best support system during such a crisis. D. People should help those who have got serious illness. 第四部分 书面表达 据报道,山东省拟从 2012 年起取消高中阶段的文理分科。请结合图片内容,写一篇 120—150 词短文,谈谈你的看法。 参考词汇:文科: liberal art 理科: science 答案解析 第一节 单项填空 1.【解析】选 A。考查冠词的用法。which happened in March, 2011 是定语从句修饰前面 的 earthquake,故 earthquake 是特指,故用 the;disaster“灾难”,是一个可数名词,所以 应该用 a。 2.【解析】选 B。综合考查定语从句。句意为:我是在买新外套的商店里遇见我的女朋友的。 本句为一个强调句,从句中 I bought my new coat 中缺少地点状语,用 where 来引导。 3.【解析】选 A。考查动词辨析。manage 表示勉强做某事,manage a smile 强作欢笑。 wear 穿,戴;perform 表演;执行;control 控制。 4. 【解析】选 B。考查虚拟语气。根据句中 but for (要不是)得知条件,要不是交通繁忙, 警察就不能抓住企图逃跑的贼了。couldn’t have done 本不能做……却做到了。 5.【解析】选 C。考查非谓语动词。根据题意可知,上下句之间是因果关系,而 we 与 know her address 是主动关系,故用现在分词形式。 6.【解析】选B。考查动词短语。come up with 提出,想出;come up to 达到;stick to 坚 持;deal with 处理,对付。根据句意:聪明的学生总会找到解决问题的好办法。故B项符 合题意。 7.【解析】选 D。考查情态动词。should 指应该;may 指可以;must 表示必须;could 表 示可能。 8.【解析】选 C。考查名词性从句。这是一个由 it 作形式主语的主语从句。分析从句可知从 句不缺少成分,而且根据句意“物价上涨是否能够得到控制还不是很清楚”可以得知选 C 项 whether。 9.【解析】选 C。考查连词及状语从句。根据前一句“我不介意你怎么做”及后句“你按时完成 这幅画”可知后一句是前一句的条件状语从句,故 C 项 as long as(只要),符合题意。as well as 和,也;as far as 有……之远;as fast as 和……一样快。 10.【解析】选 B。考查动词时态。since“自从…… no doubt 毫不怀疑;no problem 没问题;no sense 没道理;no wonder 难怪。 14.【解析】选 C。考查主谓一致。rather than 连接两个主语时,谓语动词在人称和数上和 前面的词保持一致。本句中前一个主语 boss 是单数,故 C 项符合题意。 15.【解析】选 A。考查交际英语。根据句意“我买个钱包作为妈妈的生日礼物你觉得怎样”, 可知答案为 A“那再好不过了”。 第二节 what you think, but communicating long enough with them will make you feel depressed for a moment or a long time 可知,消极的人是通过改变我们的情绪来影响我们。 48.【解析】选 B。细节理解题。由文章第三段 They only feel glad when they make others feel bad 可知,消极的人是把自己的快乐建立在别人的痛苦之上的,故 B 是正确的。 49.【解析】选 D。细节理解题。由文章第五段 Sometimes we have no choice but to communicate with negative people 及 say what needs to be said as little as possible 知, 与消极的人尽量少说话,故 D 项正确。 50.【解析】选 B。推理判断题。通过概括全文可以得知,作者对 negative people 持批评态 度,故选 B。A 项赞成的,C 项冷漠的,D 项支持的,都不符合题意。 51. 【解析】选 B。细节理解题。由文章第一段 the news that he might only live up to six months was a great Some people are against the cancellation, because they believe that if there is no division, students have to learn too many subjects, which is certain to increase their burden. But I’m for it. Both liberal art and science, like the wings of a bird as shown in the picture, are worth learning, because they develop our all-round abilities, which is essential in modern society. Besides, we students can also master two different ways of thinking by balancing the two. Just like the bird in the picture says “I can fly higher with my two wings—liberal art and science”, I believe that we students can develop better with a balance of subjects.
