By the time she was 13, her company was worth millions of dollars with the invention of a super-sweet treat that could save kids’ teeth, instead of destroying them.‎ It all began when Moore visited a bank with her dad. On the outing, she was offered a candy bar. However, her dad reminded her that sugary treats were bad for her teeth. But Moore was sick of missing out on candies. So she desired to get round the warning, “Why can’t I make a healthy candy that’s good for my teeth so that my parents can’t say no to it?” With that in mind, Moore asked her dad if she could start her own candy company. He recommended that she do some research and talk to dentists about what a healthier candy would contain.‎ With her dad’s permission, she spent the next two years researching online and conducting trials to get a recipe that was both tasty and tooth-friendly. She also approached dentists to learn more about teeth cleaning. Consequently, she succeeded in making a kind of candy only using natural sweeteners, which can reduce oral bacteria.‎ Moore then used her savings to get her business off the ground. It’s the first and only solid-fuel rocket in the Long March family. It’s also the first rocket in China that has completed a seaborne mission – from the Yellow Sea in June 2019. And now its successful launch on May 30 from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in Sichuan province has, again, set new records.‎ It was the first time that the Long March 11 had been launched from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center. Among its previous eight launches, seven were from Gansu’s Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center and one from the sea. The latest success “has proven its adaptability to different launch sites”, Peng Kunya, the chief designer of the rocket.‎ A new launch platform was also used in the mission, which helped the rocket better adapt to the new environment. The new platform is highly intelligent, allowing the preparation time of the launch to be significantly reduced. China’s capability to launch rockets in a short time has “reached a new level”, Jin Xin, deputy commander-in-chief of the Long March 11 mission, said in a press conference.‎ The mission also marked the first use of a 2-meter-diameter fairing (整流罩) on the Long March 11. A fairing is the structure outside of a rocket that is able to streamline the rocket and reduce drag. It’s also what “wraps” satellites, protecting them from the increasing pressure and heat when a rocket travels through the atmosphere. “A fairing measuring 2 meters in diameter leaves more space for satellites,” added Jin.‎ Long March 11 has indeed proven itself as “the most adaptable carrier rocket in China”, according to Xinhua. But designers didn’t stop there. In fact, they have begun to develop an ‎ upgraded version of the Long March 11 – called the Long March 11A – which will be even wider, taller and have greater thrust (推进力). The new model is expected to make its maiden flight around 2022.‎ ‎28. Which of the following shows Long March 11’s adaptability?‎ A. It uses the latest solid energy. ‎ B. Now, with the help of organizations across New York City, the oyster population is beginning to make a comeback, which could have a positive impact on the river.‎ The Hudson River still faces major sanitation challenges. According to a 2018 report released by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, 6.25 billion gallons of sewage ‎ (污水) entered New York’s waterways between 2017 and 2018.‎ The primary cause of sewage pollution, the report found, is the runoff caused by rain and snow that bypasses the preventative measures in treatment plants and manholes (检修孔).‎ Despite this, in the past two decades, oysters have begun to reappear due to actions being taken by organizations like The River Project and assistance from local volunteers. Oysters act as filters and can clean up to 50 gallons of water each day, according to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. Leaders of the organizations hope that by bringing back the oyster population, they’ll also bring back the clean waters of a pre-industrial era.‎ To better help educate the public, these organizations are hosting canoe trips and inviting people in the community to come and see the oysters living in the canal. The more the city sees people using the canal, the more likely it may be to fund the oyster program.‎ For the local people, bringing back oysters restores the hope that other species would thrive there too. Diversity within an ecosystem makes it more sustainable, with each species playing a role that other species depend on for survival. Each creature in an ecosystem has a role to carry out.‎ ‎32. What caused the population of oysters in the Hudson River to decrease over 100 years ago?‎ A. Climate change and dry weather. ‎ B. Over-farming and pollution.‎ C. Overfishing and natural disasters. ‎ D. Overpopulation and imbalanced ecosystem.‎ ‎33. What is the major cause of sewage pollution in the Hudson River, according to the 2018 report?‎ A. The untreated runoff caused by rain and snow.‎ B. The sewage from the neighborhood.‎ C. The lack of treatment plants and manholes.‎ D. The decrease of the oyster population.‎ ‎34. What is the main idea of the second-to-last paragraph?‎ A. How to organize canoe trips.‎ B. How the oyster program started.‎ C. How the organizations remind the public of the canal’s beauty.‎ D. How the organizations raise people’s awareness of environmental protection. ‎ ‎35. What is one benefit of an increase in oyster population according to the article?‎ A. It can reduce the usage of pesticides.‎ B. It can bring economic benefits.‎ C. It can help control the number of harmful creatures in the water. ‎ D. It can help maintain diversity within the local ecosystem.‎ 第二节(共5个小题;每小题2分,满分10分)‎ 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。‎ How to Stop Criticizing Others Criticism is harmful to healthy relationships. While it’s okay to express frustration if someone is behaving in a way that hurts you, being overly critical can cause tension in any relationship over time. 36 ‎ Think before you speak. Before you dish out criticism, pause and consider whether you really need to say anything at all. If someone did something to get on your nerves, do you really need to point it out? Sometimes, it’s best to let small indiscretions go. 37 ‎ Be realistic. 38 It's possible your tendency to criticize stems from expecting too much from those around you. If you find yourself consistently annoyed or disappointed with others, it may be a good idea to adjust your expectations.‎ ‎ 39 Oftentimes, critical people have a tendency to personalize events that occur around them. This can bleed out into personalizing the actions of others. If you see someone cut in line, do you immediately think that person is rude? If so, stop for a moment and reconsider. Try not to judge a stranger’s character based on the action.‎ Focus on positives. Oftentimes, being critical results from how you’re choosing to see a situation. Everyone has flaws and imperfections. 40 Try to focus on a person’s positive qualities over their negative ones.‎ A. Personalize events.‎ B. Depersonalize other people’s actions.‎ C. Here are some tips for you to stop criticizing.‎ D. Critical people often have very high expectations of those around them.‎ E. Try taking a few deep breaths and leaving the room instead of criticizing.‎ F. However, remember other people have their own separate lives and struggles. ‎ G.
