Why is pink or purple a color for girls and blue or brown for boys?
The answer depends largely on cultural values as well as personal experiences. To the Egyptians, green was a color that represented the hope and joy of spring, while for Muslims, it means heaven. Red is a symbol of good luck in many cultures. In China, children are given money in a red envelope to bring good fortune in the New Year. For many nations, blue is a symbol of protection and religious beliefs. Greek people often wear a blue necklace hoping to protect themselves against evils(灾祸).
People’s choice of colors is also influenced by their bodies' reactions (反应)toward them. Green is said to be the most restful color. It has the ability to reduce pain and relax people both mentally and physically. People who work in green environment have been found to have fewer stomach aches.
Red can cause a person’s blood pressure to rise and increase people’s appetites(食欲). Many decorators will include different shades of red in the restaurant. Similarly, many commercial websites will have a red “Buy Now” button because red is a color that easily catches a person’s eye.
Blue is another calming color. Unlike red, blue can cause people to lose appetite. So if you want to eat less, some suggest that eating from blue plates can help.
The next time you are deciding on what to wear or what color to decorate your room, think about the color carefully.

Astronauts on shorter shuttle missions(使命)often work very long days. Tasks are scheduled so tightly that break times are often used to finish the day’s work. This type of schedule is far too demanding for long missions on the International Space Station(ISS). ISS crewmembers usually live in space for at least a quarter of a year. While astronauts cannot go to a baseball game or a movie in orbit, there are many familiar activities that they can still enjoy before a mission. The family and friends of each ISS crewmember put together a collection of family photos, messages, videos and reading material for the astronauts to look at when they will be floating 370 kilometers above the Earth. During their mission, the crew also receives care packages with CDs, books, magazines, photos and letters . And as from early 2010, the internet became available on the ISS , giving astronauts the chance to do some “web surfing (冲浪)”in their personal time. Four rules of friendship
Whatever we do in our lives, we must follow some rules. Rules are everywhere. There are rules
in games, there are rules in office. 16. If you follow these rules of friendship, you will enjoy many close friendships throughout your life.
You should be a good listener to get the special space in your friend’s heart. When someone listens carefully, he or she automatically earns the attention of the speaker. 17.
18. You should support your friend in all aspects. These things make your friend feel good. There is an old saying “A friend in need is a friend indeed”, which means the person who is really your friend will show up no matter what trouble you’re in.
19. Don’t interfere (干涉) in your friend’s family matters. Your friend may not be happy when you make unwanted jokes on him or her. So know your limits and never cross them for the sake of a healthy relationship.
20. Where there is no trust, there is no relation. Trust makes the connection much stronger. So trust your friend and never do anything wrong. It is rightly said that “Honesty is the best policy”. So always be honest with your friends. It increases your goodwill and everyone trusts honest people.
If you follow the above rules, you will definitely earn good friendships.
