George Orwell is one of the UK's best-known 20th century authors but he's also claimed by Motihari, a town in north-eastern India, where Orwell spent the first year of his life, before he and his mother moved to Henley, England.
More than a century after the Orwells left, the shabby bungalow(平房) is being turned into a museum. The four families who have been living here are in the process of moving out. Among them is Aditya Abhishek. “That's something I share with George Orwell,” he tells me. “We were both born in the same house, but he became famous, and I didn't.” He is sad to go. “I have so many memories associated with this bungalow,” he says.
As very few people here understand English, it's perhaps no surprise that few
know much about George Orwell. Motihari has no bookshop selling anything other than school and college textbooks. You cannot easily lay your hands on any of Orwell's books here.
“Today, scholars have to travel to London for research on Orwell, but once the museum is developed, they can carry out their research at his birthplace,” says cloth merchant Debripya Mukherjee.
He and his friends are in touch with Orwell's son, Richard Blair, who may help them get copies of the huge collection of original manuscripts(手稿), pictures and so on held by the George Orwell Archive at University College London (UCL). The local government is planning to spend $150,000 on the project. “We're fortunate that a writer like George Orwell was born here,” says Mukherjee. “So, it's our duty to preserve this bungalow and make it presentable.”
24.Where did George Orwell live in India?
A.In a town's bungalow. B.Beside a museum.
C.In a bookshop. D.Close to Henley.
25.We can infer that Aditya Abhishek ________.
A.has refused to leave the bungalow
B.hasn't got used to life without George Orwell
C.has become famous because of his association with George Orwell
D.has deep feelings about the bungalow
26.The underlined words “lay your hands on” in Paragraph 3 probably mean “________”.
A.publish B.obtain C.share D.write
27.According to the text, the museum ________.
A.is cooperating with UCL B.is founded by Debripya Mukherjee
C.has a hopeful future D.gets limited support from the local government

Some people say global English is no longer just controlled by British or American English, but is running free and developing unique (独一无二的) local forms. Can you figure out the following terms?
“I like your smile, but unlike you put your shoes on my face.” This is a way of saying “Keep off the grass.” Or “people mountain, people sea”, which means “very crowded”.
These examples are what we call Chinglish. When it comes to Chinglish, if all you know is “good good study, day day up”, you will be considered “out man”.
Nowadays, more Chinglish words have been created, for example, a Chinese idiom is translated as “smilence”, a combination of the English words smile and silence.
Chinglish usually offers a humorous look at the misuse of the English language in Chinese street signs, products, and advertising. They are favored by some English-speaking tourists and visitors. Dominic Swire has been living in Beijing for a couple of years. He said, “I think many Chinese people complain about the Chinglish and badly translated English. But you know, sometimes for us foreigners, it's actually quite charming to see them. I think if the translations of English in China were all perfect, then something would be lost from the Chinese culture.”
However, Chinglish will probably become a “cultural relic” in the near future. Beijing has made a comprehensive plan to improve foreign language services and remove(去除)Chinglish within five years. “It is very ridiculous(可笑的) to see Chinglish on the signs in some scenic spots. And they are a kind of barriers(障碍) for communication between Chinese and people from other countries,” a Beijinger said.
Some Chinese university experts side with Chinglish. They argue that English has
absorbed elements from other languages such as French and Spanish in its growth, and now it's Chinese's turn.
28. What can we call Chinglish?
A.The English words which get new Chinese meanings.
B.The words combining English vocabulary and Chinese grammar.
C.The Chinese words which are difficult to translate.
D.The local words preventing foreigners to learn Chinese well.
29.Who will be called “out man” according to the passage?
A.A student who hates learning foreign languages.
B.A person who knows little about Chinglish words.
C.A tourist who fails to understand local translations.
D.An expert who doesn't support Chinglish at all.
30.What is Swire's attitude to Chinglish?
A.It can show the humour of Chinese. B.It will attract more foreign tourists.
C.It seems part of Chinese culture. D.It helps him to learn Chinese well.
31.Chinglish is likely to become a “cultural relic” in Beijing because ________.
A.it has become a unique bridge between Chinese and English
B.Chinglish is a chance to enrich Chinese and English
C.it improves the understanding between Chinese and foreigners
D.Beijing is determined to get rid of Chinglish signs

A recent morning, Garcia told the story of how he became the pianist for the senior center and how the seniors became his favorite audiences. “These old people really enjoy what I do. It lights up their days,” he said.
It all started 18 years ago when tired of more than 20 years on the road with the band Los Melodicos, Garcia decided to settle in South Florida. He moved in with relatives in Sweetwater, where every morning he would walk his little nieces to the senior center's lawn.

“I have so many memories associated with
this bungalow,” he says.
As very few people here understand English, it's perhaps no surprise that few know much about George Orwell. Motihari has no bookshop selling anything other than school and college textbooks. You cannot easily lay your hands _on any of Orwell's books here.

However, Chinglish will probably become a “cultural relic”in the near future. Beijing has made a comprehensive plan to improve foreign language services and remove(去除)Chinglish within five years. “It is very ridiculous(可笑的) to see Chinglish on the signs in some scenic spots. And they are a kind of barriers(障碍) for
communication between Chinese and people from other countries,” a Beijinger said.
Some Chinese university experts side with Chinglish. They argue that English has absorbed elements from other languages such as French and Spanish in its growth, and now it's Chinese's turn.
28.What can we call Chinglish?

It all started 18 years ago when tired of more than 20 years on the road with the band Los Melódicos, García decided to settle in South Florida. He moved in with relatives in Sweetwater, where every morning he would walk his little nieces to the senior center's lawn.

Dear__Sir or Madam,
I'm Li Xia, a senior 2 student. Having learned that the English Club will be open, I'm more than happy and interested. I've been learning English for over eight years. I love it and do well in every exam. However, I'm poor in my spoken English. Therefore, I'm eager to join the club to improve my speaking ability by communicating with the foreign teachers and other members.
But I have no idea whether there are some requirements for joining the club. Do I need to pay for membership? If so, how much should I pay? And can you introduce some activities to me in detail?
Looking forward to your reply. (110 words )
Yours sincerely,

Some students believe that if they have much money or large possessions, they will he happy. They believe that they will be able to do anything they want to do it' they have much money, Some students think that they should be in good health, and enjoy whatever they like.
