It was not until in my late thirties that I made this important discovery:Giving-away makes life so much more ‎ exciting. You need not worry if you lack money. This is how I experimented with giving-away.If an idea for improving the window display of a neighborhood store flashes to me, I step in and make the suggestion to the storekeeper. One discovery I made about giving-away is that it is almost impossible to give away anything in this world without getting something back, though the return often comes in all unexpected form. ‎ One Sunday morning the local post office delivered an important special delivery letter to my home, though it was addressed to me at my Office.I wrote the postmaster a note of appreciation. More than a year later I needed a post—office box for a new business I was starting. I was told at the window that there were no boxes left, and that my name would have to go on a long waiting list.As I was about to leave, the postmaster appeared in the doorway. He had overheard(无意中听到)our conversation.“Wasn’t it you that wrote us that letter a year ago about delivering a special delivery to your home?”I said yes“Well, you certainly are going to have a box in this post office if we have to make one for you.You don’t know what a letter like that means to us. When the author needed a post-office box,______‎ A. he had to put his name on a waiting list ‎ B. he wrote the postmaster a note of appreciation C. many people had applied for post-office boxes before him ‎ D. he asked the postmaster to make one for him ‎25. In reply to the postmaster’s question, the author said ______‎ A.it was the special delivery ‎ B.it was the post-office box C.it was the note of appreciation he wrote ‎ D.it was he who wrote him a letter a year ago B Every day, all across the nation, as many as one in four children refuse to go to school. The reasons are various. "School refusal" formerly known as "school phobia", is an actual anxiety-based disorder. Because many children are unclear about their complaints and unable to be sure what is making them anxious, it is sometimes regarded as typical childhood willfulness. However, the effects of constant school refusal can be far-reaching for your child’s education. ‎ ‎ So, where is the line between what’s normal and what’s not? "You need to look at whether it is affecting the child or the family’s daily functioning," explains Christopher Kearney, Ph.D. In other words, if a child’s grades are suffering from frequent absences or a parent’s job is disturbed, it is time to look closely at the issue. Parents should listen carefully to children who say they can’t go to school because of "untestable things, such as stomachaches or headaches". While these complaints alone don’t necessarily indicate school refusal, there may be deeper problems if combined with general complaints about school, talks of threats at school and so on. There are different kinds of behavior in school refusal. Some children that are influenced by their friends skip school to hang out with their friends, showing a sense of rebellion (叛逆). Some children cling to their mother’s leg, screaming at the thought of having to enter the school building. However, that doesn’t mean that getting a child back into the classroom is impossible. According to Maryann Roth, a school psychologist and guidance counselor, parents should attempt to make sure the child gets to school, no matter how hard it is. Working closely with school officials and possibly a therapist to create a plan is a necessary step.‎ ‎26. Which of the following statements is TRUE? A. Children’s education problem is mainly caused by school refusal.‎ B. Children’s such complaints as untestable things can totally be ignored.‎ C. Friends’ skip can have an effect on children’s school refusal.‎ D. School refusal has close relation to children’s mood.‎ ‎27. The problem really lies in the stress that many of us experience. Stress robs you of the rest that you need by putting you in a constant state of pressure and worry. There are, of course, numerous methods that can help you relax, but only a few of them give you a good night’s sleep.‎ ‎ One of them is soothing (舒缓的)music for sleep. Sleep music is not just for promoting relaxation, it also can be used for various situations. Want to have a relaxing evening by yourself? Practice yoga in a comfortable environment? Think over something important? Then put on your favorite sleep music. Sleep music is not only suited for adults, but has also been known to be beneficial for children. Soothing music helps your children go to sleep more easily. Massage therapists (按摩治疗师)can also benefit from using soothing music for sleep in their clinics. This allows clients to benefit more from the session. For example, massage therapists can provide the relaxation of the body through their techniques, and the music helps clients ease their minds, helping them to relax deeper and feel more refreshed after the session. You’ll never run out as there are numerous artists and companies that make sleep music. Choosing the right music is important as well. Like most music that you can find and buy in stores, sleep music has different styles, sounds, and themes. There are those that are specifically targeted for relaxation, while some are intended to help you go to sleep. The great thing about sleep music is that it will be something you’ll be using for months, even years to come. If you want a deeper relaxation and better sleep, give some soothing music for sleep a try.‎ ‎31. To a certain extent, the PE class ‎ is our only chance to relax and enjoy ourselves at school. However, it is a pity that our PE class is boring. What’s worse, it is even replaced by other subjects.‎ For one thing, the PE class can build up our bodies. For another, it enables us to shape our personalities. It serves to develop our awareness of cooperation and spirit of competition. Therefore I hold the view that it would be a great loss to us students if it were replaced by other subjects.‎ My advice is as follows. The teachers should design and organize some fun sports so that everyone can take part and have fun as well. After all, not everybody thinks running, jumping or ball games attractive. I do hope the PE class can enrich our school life and that everyone can find his or her own pleasure in it.‎
