I fondly remember road trips as a child, sitting in the sunny backseat of my mom's car, daydreaming about other worlds and fantastic adventures. As I’ve grown older, my daydreams have become increasingly occupied less with fantasy but more with the reality of my past and future. Nearly everyone daydreams about their future and reflects nostalgically (念旧地) or negatively on moments of the past. These moments can provide inspiration, but if you spend too much time daydreaming in this fashion, you may be reducing your success in the present.
If you've ever planned a vacation, you're familiar with the impatient days tapping at your desk, dreaming of the lazy, relaxing days to come. Unfortunately, sometimes you end up comparing the real vacation to your imagined one, and it doesn't live up to the standard. Reflecting nostalgically on the past can also prevent present enjoyment. It is equally fun to reflect on past achievements or fun events, but it's possible to be so consumed with happy memories that you miss opportunities to create more.
We've all made mistakes that we’re ashamed of; reflecting on them is an important step in correcting those mistakes and becoming a better person. But dwelling (细想)too long on your past can also be negative. If you dwell too long on a past mistake, you can begin to equate(使等同)yourself with your past and feel farther away from the person you want to be. Train your brain to think quickly about the past and future, and take only the information and inspiration that you need in order to be the best person you can without resting on your glory moments or your mistakes.
If your identity is not dependent on the past or future, every experience is new and every day is a blank page for you to write. A fun mental exercise is to always tell yourself that you’re experiencing things for the first time. So take advantage of each moment you’re given.
24. What does the author think of daydreaming?
A. It's the favorite for many kids.
B. It can lead to fantastic adventures.
C. It's the major source of inspiration.
D. It has both strengths and weaknesses.
25. What can we learn from Paragraph 2?
A. Past achievements strongly influence us.
B. It's important to be patient with our present life.
C. Daydreaming may make the present disappointing.
D. Reflecting nostalgically on the past brings us no pleasure.
26. What should we avoid doing according to Paragraph 3?
A. Reflecting on the past.
B. Resting on our past experiences.
C. Thinking about our past mistakes.
D. Feeling ashamed of our past mistakes.
27. What's the author's purpose in writing the text?
A. To tell about her childhood.
B. To tell how to let go the past.
C. To suggest we focus on the present.
D. To encourage us to learn from mistakes.

On a February afternoon in a classroom, Taylor came face to face with a cow-but it was all in her head.A virtual(虚拟的)reality headset had transported her and her classmates to a farm 250 miles away and for them, the technology means field trips are no longer limited by a bus ride.
On any given day, students nationwide walk through fields, dive into deep sea, and observe medical operations by using such headset. It's another way to attract the iPhone generation of students and improve their understanding and their grades.
Richard Lamb is a scientist working at Buffalo Science Lab. In the lab, the physical effects of virtual reality become clear as participants experience motion (运动) sickness without moving. “Some of the research we’re doing has shown that what you experience in virtual reality has very similar responses that you would get if you were doing the actual activity, ” Lamb said.
It's unknown how many classrooms have or will adopt the technology, but experts say it's still relatively rare. While individual headsets that require a user’s phone can cost as little as $20 or $30, systems and software for classes will cost thousands of dollars. Early complaints about a lack of good software are fading as more companies enter the market, but the rules for use haven't necessarily caught up with the technology.
In New York, virtual lab experiments don’t count toward the state's hands-on lab time requirements. Even so, the sciences are an area where virtual reality holds particular promise for classrooms. “The biggest impediment is going to be the quality of that experience, and that means how closely it mimics (模仿) the physical world, ” said David Evans, a scientist. “ Doing dangerous things and running into a lot more cases represent a huge learning opportunity.”
Lamb agreed. “Too often in schools, when we do things in labs, you mix things together and you get this outcome. And if you don't get that outcome, you did something wrong, but we don't have enough resources for you to redo it,” he said. “In virtual reality, all I do is on the computer. I don’t have to actually use chemicals.”
28. What does a virtual reality headset really help the students do?
A. Take some exercise. B. Perform an operation.
C. Go for a bus ride. D. Have different experiences.
29. The technology is rarely used in classrooms mainly because ________.
A. students show little interest in it
B. it's too expensive for users to afford it
C. supporting software is inaccessible yet
D. it's inconvenient to be operated by students
30. Which word can replace the underlined word “impediment” in Paragraph 5?
A. Opportunity. B. Difficulty.
C. Surprise. D. Disappointment.
31. Which of the following statements do both Lamb and Evans agree with?
A. This technology can save students a lot of time.
B. This technology is safe when used in experiments.
C. This technology can produce a better result in real life.
D. This technology can enrich students’ learning experiences.

In today’s world, understanding how to analyze big data is a significant tool for students, scientists, and citizens alike-and a key topic during both speeches at the 2017 Research Teachers Conference.
During their speeches, Lisa Purcell, Senior Scientist at Regeneron and Ruth Krumhansl, founder of the Oceans of Data Institute, both offered recommendations to more than 200 teachers at the conference on how to effectively use big data in the classroom.
“Having a lot of data is worthless unless you can make sense of it, ” Ruth said. “We have a responsibility to help our students make wise decisions in a very complex world.” Ruth explained that she is always seeking to increase data literacy(数据素养能力)and transform science education using big data. With these resources, students can conduct a variety of big data research projects -all from the classroom. Moreover, even students interested in non-STEM(科学、技术、工程、数学)careers like consulting or business analytics can benefit from understanding how to analyze and understand data sets.
Lisa stressed that teachers have the power to change the world by providing the next generation with the correct analytical tools and approaches to handle such large quantities of information. “You can train the next generation with them to do whatever, whether it’s dealing with climate change, creating a vaccine (疫苗) for Ebola, or becoming the next President of the U.S. or Prime Minister of Canada,” Lisa said.
Understanding big data is critical to students’ success in school and their future careers. According to Ruth, students should begin working with data from a young age. This will enable students to practice analytical thinking as early as possible, and to begin asking important questions about what is going on in our world. And big data can help answer questions that students have. “Students are interested in what is known, but they get more excited about what is not known,” she said.
32. According to Paragraph 2, we know the speeches of Lisa and Ruth _______.
A. advise students to increase data literacy
B. ask teachers to know how to analyze big data
C. show the significance of big data in non-STEM
D. advise teachers to apply big data in the classroom
33. What can we know about Ruth?
A. She was a real specialist in analyzing big data.
B. She laid the base for students to do big data projects.
C. She stressed the important role of teachers in using big data.
D. She made outstanding achievements with the help of big data.
34. Which of the following may Lisa agree with?
A. Teachers are given the power to change the world.
B. Teachers should try to transform science education.
C. Teachers can help students apply big data to many fields.
D. Teachers know the importance of big data for students.
35. What may be the best title for the passage?
A. How can students analyze big data?
B. How can students make use of big data?
C. Big data-a significant tool in today’s classroom
D. Big data-a necessary subject for students to learn
第二节 (共 5 小题,每小题 2 分,满分 10 分)
根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,选项中有两项为多余选项。
According to expert Dr. Bob Nelson, the most effective employee rewards are also the least expensive. 36 The trick to giving your employees rewards that make a real difference is to personalize them - this is a case where one size definitely does not fit all. Here’s how to keep your team motivated by rewarding them wisely.
Be quick. In order to make recognition effective, it needs to be closely linked to the behavior being rewarded. 37 Don't wait a month or two after the fact. By that time, the employee may have already forgotten what it was that she did to earn the recognition.
Be specific. Generalities have no place when you’ re rewarding your employees. 38 Then explain to the employee why you appreciate it: “You did a remarkable job pulling together the data for that marketing survey!”
39 Effective management is all about building relationships and trust with your people. It's always best to convey your praise in person and publicly, in front of the employee’s peers, whenever possible. If you can’ t arrange for a personal, face-to-face praising in a timely way, then use the telephone or send an email, text message or handwritten note.
Be sincere. 40 The easiest way to do this is to offer thanks when you really are appreciative. Don’t fake it when it comes to recognizing employees. Your people will see right through your lukewarm(冷淡的)praise, and they will discount the recognition that you give them.
A. Be positive.
B. Be personal.
C. Make sure your thanks are from your heart.
D. This means rewarding an employee immediately.
E. Point out the specific behavior that you are recognizing.
F. You don't need to send employees to Hawaii on expensive vacations.
