Many Westerners have the idea that everyone in China knows how to do kung fu. This is, of
course,a silly belief. But it is true that kung fu is a big part of Chinese culture.
Like most people from the West, I was first introduced to kung fu through Hong Kong action
films. Stars like Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan made kung fu popular in the Western world. The flashy and impressive performances they gave in films like Rumble in the Bronx and Enter the Dragon made them household names in the U.S. and elsewhere.
However, my own personal interest in kung fu was actually inspired by a hip hop group.
Wu-Tang Clan, founded in the early 1990s in New York City, is one of the most influential hip hopgroups in history. In their songs, they sometimes mention philosophical(哲学的) concepts that come from Wudangquan-a classic Chinese martial art from which they take their name-and Shaolin Temple.I was just a teenager when I first started listening to Wu-Tang Clan-little did I know that I would actually end up living in China later in my life!
I myself do not practice kung fu. However, the concepts behind it are quite interesting to me.
There is a Bruce Lee quote that I often think of when I'm struggling with challenges in life. “Be
formless, shapeless, like water,” he once said. By this, he meant that you should be ready to adapt to and change your attitudes or beliefs when you face difficulties. I think this is a good way to deal with life.
24. What does “a silly belief” in Paragraph 1 refer to?
A. All Chinese people can do kung fu.
B. Many Westerners admire kung fu.
C. China is most famous for its kung fu.
D. Kung fu is a big part of Chinese culture.
25. What inspired the author's interest in kung fu?
A. Hong Kong action movies. B. A US hip hop group.
C. Kung fu stars in Hollywood. D. A TV program about kung fu.
26. What do we know about the Wu-Tang Clan?
A. They performed Chinese martial arts in the U.S.
B. They taught the author how to do Wudangquan.
C. They have Chinese culture in their songs.
D. They showed the author the way to live in China.
27. What can we learn from the last paragraph?
A. The spirit of kung fu helps the author overcome difficulties.
B. The concepts of kung fu change over time.
C. Bruce Lee was the most popular martial arts master.
D. The author was sorry that he couldn't do kung fu.
C
“Farm to table” is the name of a movement that encourages people to eat locally grown food. The farm-to-table idea has become more popular in recent years. But there is also a movement that brings “table to farm”. Its purpose is to connect people to the land and to honor
local farmers by creating a sort of restaurant without walls.
Its founder, Jim Denevan, got the idea for this kind of “culinary adventure (美食探险)”, as he called it, ten years ago. He recently prepared tables for more than a hundred people at Briars Farm in Virginia. He and his eight-member team arrived the night before. Chefs (厨师) from a local restaurant prepared the dinner.
Jim Denevan’s brother is a farmer and he himself is a chef. He thought that the idea of a meal served right on the farm made sense, though not everyone agreed.
“But I wanted to make the idea work, so I decided to cross the country, ” said Denevan. “I went all the way across the United States and set the table on farms, ranches (大牧场) and beaches, and all the places where food came from. ”
“This kind of event connects us with a lot of enthusiastic people, people that we can form relationships with, ” said Matt Szechenyi, who operates Briars Farm.
The tour of the farm ends at the dinner table. The meats in the meal come from Matt Szechenyi's farm. The vegetables come from nearby farms. Guests and local farmers sit together.
Annoica Ingram came with a friend. “The food is wonderful. I appreciate their hard work. I see everything they have to do to take care of the animals and make sure they are well-cared-for. Without them, I think, we'll have big problems, ” she said.
28.What is the main purpose of the movement “table to farm”?
A.To provide people with healthy food.
B.To honor farmers for their hard work.
C.To help farmers earn more money.
D.To encourage people to work less and eat more.
29. Members of the movement “table to farm” will probably NOT ______.
A.build restaurants for farmers
B.walk around the farms
C.communicate with farmers
D.make new friends
30. Annoica’s attitude towards farmers’ work is ______.
A.worried
B.doubtful
C.thankful
D.supportive
31.What kind of writing is the passage likely to be?
A.A travel guide.
B.Popular science.
C.A diary.
D.A news report.

Language learning apps are very popular now and offer opportunities to learn vocabulary and practice grammar. But there has been a discussion about just how effective such apps can
be.
Among the most popular apps are Duolingo and Busuu. A former research found positive results on the use of them. But it mainly concentrated on studies with learners who had signed up for language courses and these apps worked as an after-class support, so the results were not always reliable. A recent study of 4,095 Busuu users has been carried out to find out if users can actually learn a language with an app.
Busuu provides learning materials for 12 different languages. It offers special models where some contents are ready for use for free while some contents are not. We find that its users are an even mix of men and women. More than half consider themselves to be at the beginner level because there is a reduction in users as their language levels go up. Most people use the app because of personal interest, or because they want to study or live abroad. Female users are likely to use it less often but for longer periods of time than male users.
Feedback in the app is highly thought of. More than 92% of the users say that the app has met their expectations and 86% consider the app as very good or good. In fact, more than 80% of the users surveyed strongly agree that using the app has helped them improve their knowledge of the language they are learning.
Besides, language learning apps also create an environment where mistakes are only known to the users, and this can address the performance nervousness that many learners suffer from when asked to speak a foreign language. So language teachers should encourage their students to use them to do the grammar work, leaving precious class time for more language communication.
32. What's the reason why the results of the former research weren't always reliable?
A. It only considered users of a limited kind.
B. It just focused on positive results.
C. It was only carried out before class.
D. It used out-of-date methods.
33. What can we learn about the app Busuu from the text?
A. It's used by more advanced learners.
B.. All the contents are free to use.
C. Most users consider it satisfying.
D. It's more popular with female learners.
34. The underlined word"address"in the last paragraph can be replaced by_____.
A.cause B. solve C.increase D.practice
35.What is the main idea of the text?
A. Language learning apps are very popular with most language teachers.
B. Students won't suffer nervousness in learning languages by using Busuu.
C. Language learning apps are effective and satisfactory to language learners.
D. Students should be required to use apps for homework after class.
第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)
根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Happiness is a choice. For every minute you are angry, you lose 60 seconds of happiness.
Be happy. Be yourself. If others don't like it,then let them be. 36
Begin today by taking responsibility for your own satisfaction. Here are four ways to choose happiness:
37Give it your all in everything you do,be devoted to your goals, and don't compare
yourself to anyone else. Never try to be better than anyone else. If you feel called to compare
yourself to someone, compare yourself to an earlier version of yourself.
Be around the right people. 38 Life is too short to spend time with people who suck the
happiness out of you. When you free yourself from negative people, you free yourself to be
YOU-and being YOU is the only way to truly live.
Help others when you're able. Care about people. In life, you get what you put in. 39 Do
something that's greater than you-something that helps someone else to be happy or to suffer less.
Let go when you know you should. Sometimes you have to be strong for yourself. Love is
worth fighting for,but you can't be the only one fighting. People need to fight for you too. If they don't,you eventually have to move on and realize that what you gave them was more than they were willing to give you. 40 If you try to repair them back together things will only get worse. Holding on is being brave, but letting go and moving on is often what makes us stronger and happier.
A. Life isn't about pleasing everybody.
B. Choose to be the best YOU can be.
C. Focus on what you have, not on what you haven't.
D. Relationships should help you, not hurt you.
E. A positive influence on others means a positive one on your own.
F.Some relationships and situations just can't be fixed.
G. No one else has the power to make you feel small unless you give them the power.

A young man was getting ready to graduate from college. For many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer's showroom, and knowing his father could well afford it, he told him that was all he wanted.
As Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited signs that his father had purchased the car. Finally, on the morning of his graduation, his father called him into his private study. His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son, and told him how much he loved him. He handed his son a beautiful wrapped gift box. Curious, but somewhat disappointed, the young man opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Bible, with the young man's name in gold. Angrily, he raised his voice to his father and said, "With all your money you give me a Bible?" He then stormed out of the house, leaving the Bible.
Many years passed and the young man was very successful in business. He had a beautiful home and a wonderful family, but realizing his father was very old, he thought perhaps he should go to see him. He had not seen him since that graduation day. Before he could make the arrangements, he received a telegram telling him his father had passed away, and willed all of his possessions to his son. He needed to come home immediately
and take care of things.

应用文:
Distinguished ladies and gentlemen,
I am greatly honored to stand here and give a speech about saving ourselves by stopping hunting and eating wild animals.
Late last year, an unknown new coronavirus crept through the population, turning into a pneumonia outbreak that put the country on high alert in just a month or two. Throughout human history, the consumption of wild animals and the destruction of their living habitats by human beings have greatly increased the contact between humans and animals, causing the deadly viruses of all kinds to spread from wild animals to human populations.
All in all, only when we learn to exist in harmony with nature, can we stop being a threat to wildlife, to our planet and to ourselves!
读后续写:
Paragraph1:
When he arrived at his father's house, sudden sadness and regret filled his heart. He began to search through his father's important papers and saw the still new Bible, just as he had left it years ago. With tears, he opened the Bible and began to turn the pages. As he was reading, a car key dropped from the back of the Bible. It had a tag with the dealer's name, the same dealer who had the sports car he had desired. On the tag was the date of his graduation, and the words... "PAID IN FULL".
Paragraph2:
How many times do we miss blessings because they are not packaged as we expected? Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; but remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for. Sometimes we don't realize the good fortune we have or we could have because we expect "the packaging" to be different. What may appear as bad fortune may in fact be the door that is just waiting to be opened.
