[2020·黑龙江六校协作体一模] Shao Ge was born to an ordinary family in Beijing in 1962. As a child, he spent much of his time in the Palace Museum, staring in wonder at the various ink masterpieces on the museum's massive walls. There was an elder man among Shao's neighbors, who was good at Chinese painting and calligraphy. In his spare time, the kind elder talked about traditional Chinese culture to young Shao. So Shao was attached to traditional Chinese paintings under the influence of his childhood experiences. Some years later, Shao decided to study painting in an art school.
Shao entered the Beijing Arts and Crafts School, where he studied painting for three years. After graduating in 1978, he worked for some time. Shao later passed an exam and became a painter for Rong Bao Zhai, a famous Chinese art gallery dating back to 1672, which allowed him to dive into a lifetime of ink paintings.
“At first, I just drew everything,” Shao said. “But I soon found that sticking to traditional thoughts and skills of Chinese paintings would limit my development as a professional painter, so I decided to develop my own style.”
In the late 1980s, experimentalism became popular among ink paintings and inspired Shao. “In 1995, I tried to draw experimental paintings. The initial works came out by chance.” Shao said. “On one occasion, I came back to Beijing by train. When the train approached the station, I saw the view outside the window change completely. Rubbish had started piling up along the tracks of the city. It was a shocking scene for me.”

[2020·南昌一模]Chinese cuisine is widely known and enjoyed all around the world. Who doesn't long for a favorite Chinese dish? But there is one interesting concept concerning Chinese food which is almost unheard in the West, and which is becoming increasingly ignored by the youth of the East — the ancient custom of tonic food.
Tonic food is food which is consumed to improve one's wellbeing or avoid sickness. For instance, it was once the custom for new mothers to eat a sesame oil hotpot every day for the first month after giving birth. It was believed that this dish would benefit the muscles, reduce pain, improve circulation, stimulate sweating, and warm the body. Some foods, such as goat meat and spinach (菠菜), are seen as “hot”, while others, such as Chinese cabbage and radishes (小萝卜), are seen as “cold”. One should be careful not to eat too much of either “hot” or “cold” food. However, how much “hot” or “cold” food one should eat depends on the time of the year, how the food is prepared and what it is prepared with, and the individual's health.
The custom of employing tonic food for a healthier life also influences the catering industry. Chinese herbal medicines, such as the wolfberry (枸杞子), can be found on many a restaurant menu, either added to fruit tea or as a beneficial addition to a dish. These herbs attract customers, such as overworked office staff, in need of a modest pickmeup.

So, whether you need to boost your strength with a large helping of chicken soup, or increase your mental powers with a serving of pig brain soup, you may find that this ancient Chinese custom could be just the tonic you were looking for.
8.What is the present situation of tonic food?
A.It is catching less attention.
B.It is enjoyed by many young people.
C.It is well known worldwide.
D.It is becoming increasingly popular.
9.What is believed to benefit new mothers?
A.Chinese cabbage. B.Fruit tea.
C.Sesame oil hotpot. D.Pig brain soup.
10.Which of the following best explains “catering” underlined in Paragraph 3?
A.Medicine. B.Restaurant.
C.Education. D.Fashion.
11.What can be a suitable title for the text?
A.The Charm of Chinese Cuisine

Public Speaking
Public speaking can be defined as the act of making a speech in front of a group of listeners.
The types of public speaking are deliberately structured with three general purposes:to inform, to persuade and to entertain the audience. An informative speech has a purpose to inform, or give knowledge to its audience. __1__ For persuasive speech, the speaker would try to change the mindset, perception(感知), or behavior of the audience for their own good. Thus, the speaker needs to look for common ground with the audience and try to relate to what they might agree on. The last type is a ceremonial speech. It tends to be less formal and more personal than the other types of speeches. No matter how well you know the person you are giving speech to, try not to say bad things about them, even if it is meant to be a joke.
- 9 -
__2__ Sparing some time to practice will help build confidence and help determine how long the presentation will last. Aside from it, knowing who the audience will be is quite necessary. Try to get as much information as possible regarding this particular area related to the audience. Knowing the “battlefield” in advance will give the speakers a huge advantage.
Language is the main aspect a speaker needs to pay attention to while giving a speech. __3__ A speaker needs to choose their words carefully and make it clear to the audience what they mean. Often, when given a speech, the audience look to the speaker to give them something new and useful. __4__ Language and delivery (演讲方式) alone will not be sufficient if the speaker does not have the body language. The movement and gesture of a speaker also affect the audience. While closing the speech or presentation, speakers can restate their main points, just to remind the audience of the important things that have been said. __5__
A.It needs to be used clearly.
B.These speeches mark special occasions.
C.The important thing to watch about is not to put in too much information.
D.The key of perfecting anything is through practice, including public speaking.
E.They can also end it with a special message and encourage the audience to ask questions.

G.Thus, the speaker needs to know how to deliver their speech to fulfill the audience's expectation.

Shao later passed an exam and became a painter for Rong Bao Zhai,a famous Chinese art gallery dating back to 1672,which allowed him to dive into a lifetime of ink paintings.
Shao, a famous Chinese art gallery dating back to 1672是Rong Bao Zhai的同位语,which引导非限制性定语从句,修饰前面整件事。
Robin Williams dived into comedy in California after he couldn't get serious acting work.
依据第三段的“But I soon found that sticking to traditional thoughts and skills of Chinese paintings would limit my development as a professional painter, so I decided to develop my own style”可知,他不想固守传统绘画想法和技巧,因为这会限制他职业画家生涯的发展,因此他决定开创自己的绘画风格。

The writer claimed that she reached the address indicated in the letter, searched in the bushes under a tree, and found under a stone a package containing the plasticwrapped painting.
分析:本句中that引导宾语从句,“indicated in the letter”为过去分词短语作后置定语,reached, searched和found作并列谓语,“containing the plasticwrapped painting”为现在分词作后置定语。
根据第一段“A Picasso signed painting...announced it on Sunday afternoon,Nov.25,2018”可知,这幅画是在2018年被找到的。
根据第四段第二句中的“she received an anonymous(匿名的) letter in the Romanian language indicating the place is where ‘Tete d'Arlequin’ was hidden”可知,提供作品隐藏位置信息的人是匿名的,我们不知道是谁。
根据第四段的内容尤其是“she received an anonymous(匿名的) letter in the Romanian language...searched in the bushes under a tree, and found under a stone a package containing the plasticwrapped painting”可推知,找到这幅画的过程是不寻常的。

(mindset n.
下文“Aside from it...is quite necessary”讲的是第二个注意事项:要提前了解观众是谁。
空处应是对其进行进一步的说明,关键词是Language,A项中的It可推知指的就是Language,且根据空后的“make it clear to the audience”可知,A项“它(语言)需要使用得很清楚”符合语境。
