www.ks5u.com 英语试卷 第一部分 阅读(共两节,满分40分)‎ 第一节 (共15小题;每小题2分,满分30分)‎ 阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、 D四个选项中选出最佳选项。 ‎ A It was the 50th anniversary (周年) of the moon landing last year. Astronomy (天文学) lovers are not the only ones who are excited about it; publishers are also offering a number of books to mark the event. ‎ Shoot for the Moon ‎ James Donovan ‎ Little, Brown and Co., $30 ‎ This retelling of the space race begins with the Soviet Union’s Sputnik satellite (人造卫星) in 1957 to the historic Apollo 11 program twelve years later. The book offers details about the characters of the spacemen, engineers and others who made the U.S. space program a success. ‎ One Giant Leap ‎ Charles Fishman ‎ Simon & Schuster, $29.99 ‎ Getting to the moon required a million hours of work, this book says. Accordingly, the story centers on the engineers, project managers and others who worked long and hard to get the Apollo program off the ground.‎ Picturing Apollo 11‎ J.L. Pickering and John Bisney ‎ Univ. of Florida, $45 ‎ Packed with hundreds of photos (some are published for the first time), this book reads like a photo book of the Apollo 11 program. The photos are moments from spaceman training, as well as the excitement of liftoff, the historic landing and the return home of the three men. Apollo’s Legacy Roger D. Launius ‎ Smithsonian Books, $27.95 ‎ A space historian examines the Apollo program in different ways: as a political (政治的) machine in the Cold War and an important cultural moment. The book explores different views on the U.S. moonshot project from scientists, politicians, the media and the public during the space race and beyond. ‎ ‎1. What is Shoot for the Moon mainly about? ‎ A. History of the space race. ‎ B. The shoot of two satellites. ‎ C. Cooperation of different countries. ‎ D. Humans’ understanding of the moon. ‎ ‎2. Whose book shows the Apollo 11 program through pictures?‎ ‎ A. J.L. Pickering and John Bisney’s. B. Charles Fishman’s. ‎ C. James Donovan’s. D. Roger D. Launius’s. ‎ ‎3. Which book talks about different views on the Apollo program? ‎ A. Shoot for the Moon. B. Apollo’s Legacy. ‎ C. Picturing Apollo 11. D. One Giant Leap. ‎ B As a kid, I was a devoted fan of a TV show, Sesame Street. During my preschool years, I watched the show every single day and continued to watch it as much as possible through elementary school. It felt like spending an hour with my best friends. It was also a primary source of learning and having fun during my childhood. ‎ The show’s characters always made me feel like I belonged. Maybe that’s because along with its educational part, the show paid attention to the fundamental (基本的) ideas of kindness and acceptance. Sesame Street was a community where everyone was welcome and where problems were addressed with love and warmth. ‎ Growing up in a small US midwestern town without much diversity (多样化), characters like Miles and Maria — who stood for cultures other than mine — made me feel that it was okay to be different. ‎ Besides helping me learn numbers and ABCs and understand different cultures, Sesame Street was deeply woven into my childhood. The theme song (主题曲) was basically the theme song of my young life. Every kid I knew dressed up as a character from the show at least once for Halloween. I remember my mum singing Ernie’s famous “Rubber Duckie” song to me each night at bath time. Then I would go to bed with my beloved Cookie Monster.‎ ‎ As Sesame Street celebrates its 50th anniversary, I’m so glad I can pass its value down to my kids. I’m planning to take my kids to see Sesame Street Live for the first time in a few weeks. I just hope they remember Sesame Street being an important part of their childhood just as it was for mine. ‎ ‎4. Why did the author like the characters in Sesame Street? ‎ A. They were friendly and humorous. ‎ B. They gave her a sense of belonging. ‎ C. They taught her musical knowledge. ‎ D. They were like the people in her real life. ‎ ‎5. What did Miles and Maria teach the author? ‎ A. To accept people who are different. ‎ B. To try to make a community better. ‎ C. To protect different cultures. ‎ D. To deal with problems in a proper way. ‎ ‎6. What do we know about Sesame Street from the fourth paragraph? ‎ A. Sesame Street helped the author make many friends. ‎ B. Kids watched Sesame Street to celebrate Halloween. ‎ C. Sesame Street was popular among the kids then. ‎ D. The author’s mum was a fan of Sesame Street too.‎ ‎ 7. What does the author’s story show? ‎ A. People need more kid-friendly shows. ‎ B. Parents’ preference can influence their kids’. ‎ C. A good show can be remembered forever. ‎ D. Children like the characters in a funny show C Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring is known as the Mona Lisa of the North. But who was the woman that inspired it? ‎ In the 2003 film Girl with a Pearl Earring, we’re introduced to Griet, a young beautiful girl, played by Scarlett Johansson, who works as a maid (女仆) after her painter father goes blind. The owner of the house where she works is none other than Vermeer, and that’s where the story begins. One day she’s asked to clean the master’s studio (工作室), and she finally meets the famous artist. They both start talking to each other about art, paint, light techniques, and colors, and he becomes really interested in this young maid with knowledge about art. Naturally, he becomes very fond of her, but not in the romantic way. So, was this Griet real? Why did he paint her?‎ In the movie, when Vermeer’s sponsor sees her, he becomes extremely crazy about her, to the point that he asks Vermeer if he can take her as his maid, which he refuses politely. In exchange, he offers to paint her for him. Now, this film is actually an adaptation (改编本) of a 1999 novel of the same name by Tracy Chevalier. The novel is a historical fiction inspired by the painting and the mysterious life of Vermeer, but there’s actually no evidence to prove the story. Then, if this isn’t the story, which is? ‎ As I said, very little is known about the artist’s life, so we can’t even know if his model even existed. Still, one of the very few things we know is that it was painted around 1665. Of course, there are different theories, including her being his daughter. Others believe she never actually existed and was just a product of his style to portray human figures, which could also be possible.‎ So, to wrap things up (总之), we might never know who she was. ‎ ‎8. Why does Griet go to work for Vermeer?‎ ‎ A. The artist requires that. B. She wants to be his model. ‎ C. Her father asks her to do that. D. She has to make a living. ‎ ‎9. What does Vermeer realize after talking with Griet?‎ ‎ A. She is a girl worth loving. ‎ B. She can help him paint better. ‎ C. She is actually a famous artist. ‎ D. She really knows much about art.‎ ‎10. Why does Vermeer paint Griet? ‎ A. To show his crazy love for her.‎ B. To cause his sponsor to fall in love with her. ‎ C. To prevent her from being his sponsor’s maid.‎ D. To sell it to his sponsor for a high price. ‎ ‎11. What’s the best title for the text? ‎ A. The Girl Who Inspired Girl with a Pearl Earring B. The Story Behind Girl with a Pearl Earring C. The Movie About Girl with a Pearl Earring ‎ D. The Painter of Girl with a Pearl Earring D Scientists for the first time have found water in the atmosphere of an Earth-like planet orbiting (绕……轨道而行) a distant star. It is the evidence that a key factor for life exists beyond our solar system, according to a study published in 2019. ‎ Water vapor (水蒸气) was found in the atmosphere of K2-18b, one of the hundreds of “super-Earths” recorded in a new field of astronomy that explores the so-called exoplanets (系外行星), which are planets that orbit a star other than the sun. In total, more than 4,000 exoplanets of all types and sizes have been found. ‎ The latest discovery was reported in research by a team of scientists at University College London (UCL) published in the journal Nature Astronomy. “We found water through the Hubble Space Telescope,” UCL astrophysicist Ingo Waldmann said. It marks the first time that scientists have found water in the atmosphere around a super-Earth. ‎ Angelos Tsiaras, an astronomer at UCL, said the team is working on finding exoplanets whose conditions are similar to those on Earth. “But of course its purpose is not to find a place where we could go,” Tsiaras said. “While light from the sun takes several minutes to reach Earth, light from K2-18b’s star takes a century to reach our planet, so it’s impossible for us to travel there.” ‎ ‎“Considering it’s so far away, we don’t really have any other choice but to stay on our own Earth, so it’s important to make Earth great again rather than looking for another planet to take the place of Earth,” Tsiaras said. ‎ Besides the quite long distance separating Earth from K2-18b, there is far more radiation (辐射) on the exoplanet than on Earth, which diminishes the possibility for life to exist. However, the discovery brings astronomers closer to answering the basic question of how special Earth is in the universe, the scientists said. ‎ ‎12. What did the scientists at UCL find out?‎ ‎ A. More exoplanets are disappearing. ‎ B. Water exists in the atmosphere of an exoplanet. ‎ C. Life exists on other planets.‎ D. Exoplanets are similar to planets in the solar system. ‎ ‎13. What can be learnt about exoplanets? ‎ A. K2-18b is the biggest exoplanet. ‎ B. Scientists know exoplanets well. ‎ C. They don’t belong to the solar system. ‎ D. There are totally 4,000 exoplanets.‎ ‎14. What might Angelos Tsiaras agree with? ‎ A. We should try our best to find earth-like planets.‎ B. We should make full use of solar energy. ‎ C. We should protect our earth well. ‎ D. We should study the planets near our earth. ‎ ‎15. What does the underlined word “diminishes” in the last paragraph mean? ‎ A. raises. B.decreases. C. ignores. D. admits.‎ 第二节 (共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分) ‎ 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 选项中有两项为多余选项。‎ ‎ One of the great joys in life is the unexpected. However, it’s more important to have a control of our life. If you have chosen your own path in life, you’ll feel happy. 16 Here are 3 things you need to give up immediately if you want to control your life.‎ ‎ ◆Give up relying (依赖) on someone else’s approval. ‎ When you rely on other people’s approval, you are telling yourself that you need the support of others to feel “OK”. This is not living from a position of self-control. 17 When you know that you are just fine on your own, you put yourself in the position to think about what you want from life and from your relationships. ‎ ‎◆Give up your unrealistic expectations. ‎ Do you wish that you would succeed at everything you try? There’s nothing wrong with wanting to achieve great goals. 18 This won’t help you feel in control of your life. Instead, learn to try new things without thinking whether you’re good at them or not. ‎ ‎◆ 19‎ ‎ To make progress in life, you must take risks, and with risk comes the possibility of failure. If you want to control your life, you must stop feeling sorry for what you have done wrong. 20 Only in this way can you make a decision to live in a new way. ‎ A. Give up upsetting yourself for past mistakes. ‎ B. However, holding to too big goals is an example of out-of-control thinking.‎ C. To control your life, you should accept yourself. ‎ D. How should you start learning to control your own course?‎ E. It can add a great deal of excitement and enjoyment to your life. ‎ F. Give up sticking to what you have been used to. ‎ G. Ask yourself what you can learn from the past, and then make an effort to look to the future.‎ 第二部分 语言运用 (共两节,满分60分) ‎ 第一节 (共20小题;每小题2分,满分40分) ‎ 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。‎ I was in a foreign country.
