What Is Bird Flu?
What is bird flu? It’s a form of influenza believed to strike all birds. Though poultry(家禽) are believed to be especially prone to(倾向于)humans, no human-to-human transmission(传播) has been reported.
Where is it? Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan and China have reported outbreaks in birds in recent months. Thailand and Vietnam have reported human cases. Bird flu was first reported in humans in Hong Kong in 1997.Since then, it’s popped up mostly in Asia, although the Netherlands reported an outbreak, including human cases, in 2003.
How many people have been affected? The disease has killed seven people. Vietnam has confirmed six human cases, and all of them have died. Thailand has confirmed three cases, including one death.
How is it passed? Infected birds spread the virus through saliva(唾液),faeces(粪便),and nasal secretions(鼻腔分泌物).
So far, only humans with direct contact with sick birds have caught the disease. But scientists are worried that bird flu could link with regular human influenza, mutate(变异),and become a deadly new virus and cause a pandemic(全国性流行病).
What are the symptoms(症状) in birds? Loss of appetite, ruffled(竖起的) feathers, fever, weakness, diarrhea(腹泻), excessive thirst, swelling. Mortality rate(死亡率) can range between 50 percent to 100 percent.

treatment.
WHO also recommends keeping away from sick people.
There's no evidence that the virus is being passed through eating chicken products, health experts say. Heat kills viruses, and WHO says chicken products should be cooked thoroughly at the temperature of at least 70 degrees Celsius(158 degrees Fahrenheit).WHO also says people should wash their hands after handling poultry so as not to contaminate(污染) other objects.

Greenwich (格林威治)is on the River , five miles from the middle of London , and its history is two thousand years old . The first English people were fishermen there , and they named the place Greenwich , meaning "green village". Later the English kings and queens lived at Greenwich in their beautiful places .
The name of the earliest palace was Placentia. Its windows were made of glass ---the first in England. Henry VIII lived there . He knew that England must be strong at sea . So he started two big ship-yards (船坞)at Greenwich, and for 350 years the ships which were made there were the best in the world .
But trouble was coming to Greenwich. In 1649 , a war started in England and for eleven years there was no king. The men who had worked for him at Placentia decided to live the place themselves . They sold all its beautiful things, and bought small pieces of the palace garden with money . Finally , the war ended and King Charles II came back . But Placentia was falling down . So King Charles built a new and bigger palace , which is now open to the public .
At this time, Charles was worried about losing so many of its ships at sea: their sailors did not know how to tell exactly where they were. So in 1675, Charles made John Flamsteed, the first astronomer (天文学家)in England, try to find the answer . Flamsteed worked in a new building on the high ground in Greenwich Park . From it with a telescope which he made himself, Flamsteed
could look all round the sky. And he did, night after night, for twenty years. Carrying on Flamsteed's work a hundred years later, an astronomer called Harrison finally made a clock which told the time at sea, and helped sailors to know where they were. You can see Harrison's clock, still working, in Greenwich's museum of the sea. Because of Flamsteed's work, every country in the world now tells its time by Greenwich time .

Will Traditional Classes be Replaced by Online Classes?
These days many schools have launched online classes as the opening of the spring semester is further postponed because of the novel coronavirus. However, opinions on online classes vary.
Some welcome the change in teaching methods. Their reason is that it can release teachers from repeating the same contents and students can replay the teaching materials as well. Others have just the opposite opinion. They think that online education lacks teacher-student interactions and they doubt if students have self-discipline without supervision.
As far as I’m concerned, traditional classes can’t be replaced by online ones because what students acquire at school is more than knowledge. But when it comes to the special situation at the moment, online classes are a better option.
