Most people your age don’t have any experience.‎ ‎ M: I don’t know what to put under the “Goals” heading, so I just wrote “To make some extra money”.‎ W: Well, you probably want to be a bit more formal than that. How about “To find part- time employment in a fun and challenging environment and to gain valuable experience”?‎ M: OK. Now what should I write under “Skills and Qualities”?‎ W: Instead of writing “I always have good ideas”, just use the word “Creative”. M: Great! I think I’m ready to send in my application and go for an interview! W: Just calm down and give me a copy when you’re finished.‎ ‎(Text 9)‎ W: This is your order, sir.‎ M: Are you new here? I come to this coffee house twice a week or more. But I’ve never seen you before.‎ W: Yes. I started this part- time job just three days ago. I’m still a student now. M: Do you mind if I ask you why you’ve taken apart time job here?‎ W: Of course not. You know, there are many foreign customers like you here. And I think it’s good for me to improve my oral English.‎ M: Oh, are you an English student?‎ W: No. But I do like English. I'm going to be a volunteer in the 2020 Olympics where I'll need language skills if I want to be really helpful. So I’ m trying to improve my English.‎ M: Very nice. Thank you for your time.‎ W: Thank you, sir. But I' m not allowed to accept any tips.‎ M: OK then. I don’t want to get you in trouble.‎ W: Well, would you like something else? The new type of cakes are really good. Want some?‎ M: No. But I’d like to try some cookies and chips. (Text 10)‎ I spent most of my childhood in a town near San Diego, where it seldom rains, and it’s always sunny and bright. I could ride my bike just about any day of the year, and had lots of friends. My best friend was George Kenny who lived a few houses down the block from me. I was about three weeks older than him. George came up to me one day and said, "Hey Richard. Why don’t we form a bicycle club? I immediately fell in love with the idea. We got two other guys together and came up with the best name for a club ever. We were the “Golden Skulls”. The four of us each picked out a picture of a skull to put on our bikes. I chose a green one, while George picked red. He shouted, "I am the red skull! I am the king of the club! George was a pretty big guy, so no ‎ one argued with him. We rode our bikes everywhere and had a great time on those hot and dry days. Unfortunately, I moved into the city that winter. How I missed all of them and our life!‎
