It is your opportunity to prove that you are worthy of, and equipped to undertake the job for which you are applying. A good application letter will increase your chances of success.

All these should make me a promising candidate for your pediatrics resident program.

Extensive training in medical technology, more than 15 years of working in and managing research and clinic labs, and strong interpersonal skills should enable me to fulfill the responsibilities.
My medical training went back to 1978 when I enrolled in a four-year medical technology program at Nanjing University in China after a competitive national entrance examination. After my graduation in 1982, I also had two opportunities to pursue further training in immunohistochemistry
.
25
As a result of the initiatives I took while working at Nanjing Medical College, I was promoted to be chief technologist in 1985. From then till the time I left, I managed a lab with seven technicians and technologists, scheduling and coordinating the daily work, training new technicians, and ordering supplies. Under my supervision, our lab was rated the best in the whole college and I was awarded the honor of Employee of the Year in 1987. While at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, I acquired valuable new skills and experience in medical technology.
26
As you will note in the resume I enclose, I am currently working as a technologist (ASCP) at Penn State University’s Hershey Medical Center. I have been the main technologist for several research projects and coauthored several papers published in medical journals. I have also assisted the supervisor in running a lab with more than 10 technicians and technologists.

There are always alternatives in expression. The same language function can be realized in various ways, but there may be differences in level of formality (formal, informal…, etc.) and in tone (neutral, friendly, intimate…etc.). Below are some alternative expressions in composing a cover letter. Study them and compare and contrast the difference, if any, in stylistic effect.
