Step 1 Question time
Hello, boy! I ’m Miss Wu. What’s your name? ⋯ I was born in 1976. When were
you born? ⋯ What does your father do? ⋯ When was he born?⋯
Hi, what’s your name? ⋯ I was born in 1976. When were you born? ⋯ Do you
like sports? (No.) Oh, what do you like? ⋯What ⋯ star do you know? ⋯ Oh,
he/she is famous. When was he/she born?⋯
Hi, what’s your name? ⋯ I was born in 1976. When were you born? ⋯ Do you
like sports? (Yes.) That’s great, then which sports star do you know? ⋯ What sport
does he play? ⋯ When was he/she born?⋯ 同时作记录。
Excuse me. Do you know any sports stars? When was he born? 同时作记录。
Step 2 Make a list
Say: I don’t like sports. So I don’t know many international sports stars. But with your
help, I know some sports stars now . You see,(展示刚才的记录单 ) I have a list of the
international sports stars I know here. This is ⋯. He is a great ⋯ player. He was born
in ⋯. And this is⋯.
Ok, listen. You must know some international sports stars. Please make a list of
some sports stars you know like this on your books. You can have three minutes.
Tell the students to report their lists.
Step 3 Talk about
Say: I have some pictures of international sports stars. Let’s have a look .
Show the picture of Deng Yaping. Ask: Who ’s that? ⋯ What does she do? ⋯ When
was she born?
Repeat with the pictures of Ronaldo, Tian Liang and Du Li.
Step 4 Listen to the tape
Say: Open your books at Page 53 , look at Activity 1b and listen to the tape, write the
year the sports star was born under each photo.
Then check the answers: 1963 1980 1975
Step 5 Pairwork
Say: Look at the conversation in Activity 1c. I think it’s simple. Can you read it
together? (the students read)
Say: You’re good. Now I hope you can practice the similar conversations to talk about
American basketball player – Michael Jordan, Swiss tennis player – Martina Hingis,
British football player – David Beckham. Three minutes. OK?

Step 6 Task time
Say: Attention, please. You will have a task now. A famous people show need you to
collect information about famous people, includes sports stars, singers, film stars,
hosts etc. You can work in groups, the group which get the most information is the
best one. 我们要办一个名人展。 请大家收集关于体育明星 ,歌星 ,影星 ,著名主持人
的资料 .看看哪一组在规定时间内收集到的名人人数最多 .
Say: Next the group leader must answer the visitors’ questions.活动小组的组长回答
参观者提出的问题。

Complete the conversation.
Step 8 Homework
Say: OK,boys and girls. You know, in the Olympic Games of 2004, we had got 63
prize medals. The players are our pride. We must never forget them. So after class,
you’ll have to collect the information of the winners and make up a book of
