The main activities are 1 , 3 and 5.
Ⅰ. Teaching aims and demands :
1. Review the grammar-modal verb: have to , must and reflexive pronouns
and useful expressions in this topic.
2. Go on talking about how to keep healthy .

Step 1 Review
T: Ask questions by teacher.
Is SARS a kind of serious disease ?
What should we do to fight SARS ?
T: Good habits can help us keep healthy and bad habits can cause
diseases .
T: Going to bed early is good for your health. Staying up later is bad for
you health. Discuss some good habits and bad habits. Work in groups
of four , fill out the table .
Ask two students to share their opinions.

Step 2 Presentation
1. T: What should we do if we want to be healthy?
Ss:We should/ shouldn't / had better...
T: Now look at the pictures.( Show the students two pictures.)
T: Who is more healthy in picture A?
S1 :I think...
T: Who likes exercising in picture B?
S2: I think...
2.T: Listen to the tape, then check the right picture.

T: Good! Open your books, turn to page 47 , look at the pictures in 1.
T: Listen to the tape again, answer the questions in 1, then write down
the answers. I'll check your answers.

Step 3 Consolidation
Let the Ss listen to 2a then read 2a aloud.
1. Show a card. Let the Ss choose "must" and "have to " fill in the
blank : He ________ look after himself.
Let the Ss translate the sentence into English :
我现在必须完成家庭作业吗?(再作出肯定和否定回答)
Then write the sentence on the blackboad.
2. (教师准备几张卡片,上面写上不同的故事背景,通过师生问答的形式复
习反身代词的用法。)
Card 1: You went to a party last night.
Card 2: You are having a rich dinner.
Card 3: He fell down to the bike and hurt his leg.
Card 4: She is teaching herself.
(1) T: S1 , (show him Card 2) Did you enjoy yourself at the party?
S1: Yes, thank you. I enjoyed myself very much .
(2) T: Hello, boys and girls, (show them Card 1)! Help yourselves to
some fish.
(3) T: Hello, S2 ! (show him Card 3 ) what was wrong with him? Did he
hurt himself ?
S2:Yes, he fell down and hurt his leg. But he’s all right now.
(4) T: S3, (show him Card 4) Lucy studies very hard. Who is teaching
her?
S3: She is teaching herself .

T: Listen to the tape first, then make a telephone call dialog using the
useful expressions in 2b .

Step 4 Practice
1.T: We all hope we are healthy all the time. But it is impossible. If we
have the flu, what should we do? Let students discuss in groups,
then give some advice actively.
2. Ask the students to write a passage on how to fight the flu, using the
information in Topic 3 and the results that students have discussed. Then
finish 3 .

Step 5 Project
1.Work in groups . Let students make up a dialog between a doctor and
a patient in pairs. Then act it out in class. Finish 5.
