IN ancient languages, the seven days of the week were named after the sun, the moon, and the five planets that ancient people knew about (luckily, they only knew about five planets then, or our weeks would be much longer). There is a good reason that in English “Sunday” has the word “sun” in it. Sunday seems to be everyone’s favorite day of the week. A few are from Latin, and a few are from German. “Tuesday” is named after a German God: Tiw (Tiw’s day). Friday is named after a German Goddess(女神): Freya. English words change spelling, meaning and roots that are based on wars and kings. That’s why English is so hard to learn! Learning the names of the week can be like a history lesson in itself!

Welcome to Highdown School. Firstly I’d like to say something about your life here. Most of you already have a place in one of our school flats. If you have any problems, please ask for help from the school office. It’s open from nine until four Monday to Friday. During the holidays it’s open, mornings only, on Monday and Thursday. However, if you have an emergency, you can contact somebody on 978-5423. Moving on now…the school has excellent facilities to help you with your studies. The Learning Centre has more than 50,000 library books. There are also 50 computers so you can use the Internet. There are plenty of places to eat at the school, like the Hungry Café on the first floor where you can have snacks including sandwiches and salads, or, if you prefer a hot meal, you can go to the Food Hall. You’ll find it next to the bookshop, on the ground floor. There are also machines around the school, where you can buy chocolate and drinks. OK. I hope all of you enjoy your time at our school

How to keep school safer?
How to keep school safer? There are many activities that we can do. In safety classes, teachers can teach safety in an easy way and students should learn carefully to stay away form danger, such as fire, earthquake etc.
When we have PE classes, we should always do warming-up activities before sports and drink some water after playing sports. And we aren’t supposed to do anything naughty to get yourself into trouble. It’s important to get well with each other.
I think schools should provide us with more emergency practice . Maybe someday we can use the skills that we learn to save our lives.

六、第46小题至第60小题，每题2分，不选、多选和错选均不给分。
七、 第61小题至第70小题，每题1分，凡选对单词至少给0.5分。
八、 第71小题至第80小题，每题1分，凡拼写错误均不给分。
九、 （一） 书面表达评分原则：按5个档次给分。中档属第三档（9分-7分）。
1、 按学生所写内容和所用语言确定档次（内容分和语言分各占一半）。
2、 总词数不足70个字可在本题总分中扣去3分；如书写整齐美观，可在本题总得分中附加1分。
（二）各档次的给分范围和要求：
1、 第五档次（很好）：（15-13分）完全完成试题规定的任务。
语言可读性强，语言结构基本正确，有少量错误。
2、 第四档次（好）：（12-10分）完全完成试题规定的任务。
语言基本正确，有一些错误。
3、 第三档次（还好）：（9-7分）基本完成试题规定的任务。
语言尚可读，有一些错误但尚能达意。
4、 第四档次（较差）：（6-4分）未能恰当完成试题规定的任务。
只有个别句子可读，语言错误较多，且不能达意。
5、 第五档次（差）：（3-1分）未能完成试题规定的任务。
只有几个有关单词，语言错误很多，不能达意。
