If you travel to Japan in spring, you might be able to see some of the country's Golden Week celebrations. They take place from the end of April to about May 5th.
Japan's Golden Week gets its name from the fact that several national holidays take place during this period. The holiday week is a main event in the country. For instance, many Japanese offices close for about a week to 10 days during Golden Week, while most offices in the United States never close for such amount of time except the schools.
Many Japanese offices close for about a week to 10 days, depending on the calendar. People take a vacation and travel around the country or abroad, so tourist attractions(旅游胜地) in Japan are crowded during this time. Also, airports and train stations in Japan are crowded with people. As a result, it is hard to book a hotel and find a taxi during Golden Week.
The first national holiday during Golden Week is April 29, which was the birthday of Showa Emperor. Now, this day is called Showa Day. The second holiday is Constitution Memorial Day, May 3. Then, May 4 is called Greenery Day. It is a day to call on people to love plants and nature. The last holiday during Golden Week is Children's Day on May 5. It's also Japanese Boy's Festival called tangonosekku and it is a day to pray(祈祷) for healthy growth of boys.

There are some similarities and some differences between growing up in Australia and China.
I lived in a small town of about 20,000 people, called Gympie on the east coast of Queensland. It is not as crowded in Australia, so people can live in houses that have front and back yards. I always enjoyed playing on the grass in the front yard.
Each weekday morning I would wake up at about 7 a.m. and get ready for school. My favorite cereal(谷物) was called WeetBix. I often ate nine or ten WeetBix to copy my favorite sports stars that I saw on TV!
As well as playing sports, I also played the saxophone. Some mornings I went to school early for band practice and played my saxophone, before classes started at 8:30 a.m. English and P.E. were my favorite subjects at school. My friends and I played tag(捉人游戏) or handball during our lunch breaks.
School finished at 3 p.m. After that I would usually go to sports training. In summer I played cricket and in winter I played hockey. Sometimes I played tennis too!
When I finally got home I was very tired. For a special treat, my mother sometimes cooked my favorite meal: apricot(杏子) chicken! Then I did my homework and read a book. I always went to sleep before 9 p.m.

Should We Help Strangers?
Recently our class had a discussion about whether we should help strangers. Different students have different opinions. Some think we should try to help strangers. Helping others is a virtue, and helping others is helping ourselves. We may come across some trouble and need others' help some day. If everyone isn't willing to help us just because we are strangers to them, it's hard to imagine what our world will be like. However, some are afraid that helping others can sometimes bring us trouble. Sometimes we are just misunderstood and even have to pay the cost of kindness. In my opinion, we should try our best to help others when they are in need of help, but we should also protect ourselves from getting into trouble. If everyone tries a little kindness, our world will be full of love.
