How many ……?What/who/when/where/how/why ……?‎ ‎2)排序题类型Which of the orders is correct according to the passage ?‎ ‎3)例证题类型The author gives the example in ……paragraph in order to ……‎ ‎4) 表唯一细节概念题类型:……the most / ~est …………the only ……‎ ‎5)True or NOT true 是非判断类型 Which of the following is NOT mentioned in the passage? ‎ Which of the following statements is NOT true? ‎ Which of the following is NOT considered as ……?‎ ‎2. ‎ ‎ 注意: 在做题过程中要学生划出关键词 A. 事实节细题,‎ There was once a large, fat woman who had a small, thin husband. He had a job in a big company and was given his weekly pay every Friday evening. .As soon as he got home on Fridays, his wife used to make him give her all his money, and then she used to give him back only enough to buy his lunch in the office every day.‎ ‎( ) (1) How much money was the husband allowed to keep every day?‎ ‎ A. Just enough to buy chocolates.‎ ‎ B. Just enough to buy a sandwich.‎ ‎ C. Just enough to buy his lunch in a restaurant.‎ ‎ D. Just enough to buy his lunch in the office.‎ 筒析:这是一道典型的事实询问题,因为它的答案可以直接从文段中找到。 如:‎ ‎ In the summer holidays, buses going to the town center will leave the school gate every hour on the half hour during the day. The dining room will serve three meals a day from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00pm. during the week and two meals from noon to 7:00 p.m. at weekends. The library will keep its usual hours during the week, but have shorter ‎ hours on Saturdays and Sundays. The weekend hours are from noon to 5:00 p.m.‎ ‎( ) (3) At which of the following times will the bus leave the school gate?‎ ‎ A. 8:00, 9:00, 10:00, 11:00 B. 8:30, 9:30, 10:30, 11:30‎ ‎ C. 8:30, 9:00, 9:30, 10:00 D. 8:00, 9:30, 11:00,12:30‎ 简析:做此类题一要抓住有关的数据,二要从众多的信息中找出哪些是有用的信息,三要抓住一些关键词。注意文章中的第一句“…every hour on the half hour...” ‎ ‎ …It was a very hot afternoon, and we decided to cool off in the river near my home. As we climbed down a small rocky hill toward the water, my boyfriend John suddenly started to shout then jumped into the water below. Peter and Mary quickly followed but I was too far away to jump. I was trapped…‎ ‎(2010年广州市中考题,A篇)‎ ‎46. How many people went swimming that day?‎ ‎ A. Two. B. Three C. Four D. Five Key: C D. The hardworking blacksmith Jones used to work all day in his shop. The son of Mr. Smith, a rich neighbor, used to come to see the blacksmith every day and for hours and hours he would enjoy himself watching how the tradesman worked.‎ ‎“Young man, why don’t you try your hand to learn to make shoe tacks (钉), even if it is only to pass the time?” said the blacksmith. “Who knows, one day, it may be of use to you.”‎ The lazy boy began to see what he could do. But after a little practice he found that he was becoming very skilled and soon he was making some of the finest tacks.‎ Old Mr. Smith died and the son lost all his things because of the war. He had to leave home and began to live a simple life in a small village in another country. In this village there were a lot of shoemakers who were spending a lot of money buying tacks for their shoes, and sometimes even when they paid high prices they were not always able to get what they wanted, because in that part of the country soldiers’ shoes were in great need.‎ Our young Mr. Smith, who was finding it difficult to earn his daily bread, remembered that once upon a time he ‎ had learned the art of making tacks and had the sudden idea of making a bargain with the shoemakers. He told them that he would make the tacks if they would help to get him settled in the workshop. The shoemakers were very glad for the offer. And after a while, Mr. Smith found that he was soon making the finest tacks in the village.‎ ‎“How funny it seems,” he used to say, “even making tacks can make my life better. My skill is more useful to me than all my riches that I’ve had before.”‎ ‎50. What is the right order of the events?‎ a. Young Mr. Smith became a tack maker in the village.‎ b. Young Smith learned the art of making tacks from Jones.‎ c. Soldiers’ shoes were in great need during the war d. In fact, one million people in Britain would like to move because they don’t get along well with their neighbors.‎ According to the survey, the biggest problem is noise. Many of the complaints about noise came from people who live in flats and old houses. These places often have thin walls which can’t stop the noise from next door.‎ The other main problems are disagreements(不和) about car parking spaces, and old people complaining about the young. Some disagreements last a long time. In one case, people who live in the same building haven’t talked to each other for fifteen years. Sometimes the disagreements end in violence. In one of the worst cases, a man killed a neighbor because he kept parking in “his space”.‎ Another survey shows that 90% of the neighbors never share a meal, 80% have never had a drink together and 20% have never even spoken. However, when neighbors become each other’s friends, they are often ready to offer help, as we can see in many parts of the world.‎ One solution(解决办法) to such problems is to talk about them with a professional(专业的) organization and, if necessary, to sign a written agreement. Now people can get this service in more and more towns.‎ ‎54. What is the third paragraph about?‎ ‎ A. How to solve the problem.‎ ‎ B. Old people and the young.‎ ‎ C. How the survey was done.‎ ‎ D. The other main problem.‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ B ‎ ‎ Your busy school life is going to end soon. What do you plan to do for your summer holiday? How about going camping? Camping trips can be a great way to relax and learn new things. If you have a good plan for your camping trip, you will have a good one. Of course different places offer different challenges, so start by making a list of things you ‎ might need for your trip.‎ First, consider what kind of trip you want. This will help you enjoy your trip. If you are planning activities, you must be honest with yourself and make sure that you can deal with the challenges you will face. If the challenges are too hard, the camping trip will make you feel tired and sad. You should also think about what to do if you meet some wild animals on your trip, such as bears, snakes or spiders.‎ ‎ You should also think about the weather. You must bring everything you need for the trip. For camping trips in some far places, you may need special vehicles. You must first think about how you are going to get there. You also need maps if you don’t want to get lost. You have to consider food and places where you will sleep. Water is also important because you need to drink lots of it every day. If you’d like more information about camping trips, you can find other articles at http. // www. Campingtrips.com.‎ ‎65. The passage was written to . ‎ ‎ A. give some advice on your camping trip ‎ B. remind travelers to stay safe ‎ ‎ C. advice people to go to far places for camping ‎ D. advertisement about camping trips on the Internet.‎ ‎ C William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon in 1564 on April the 23rd. His father was an important man in the town, so Shakespeare had a good upbringing. Shakespeare probably went to school (although no records survive to prove this) but not university. He got married when he was 18 to Anne Hathaway and the couple had 3 children.‎ Shakespeare wrote 38 plays and 154 sonnets (a sonnet is a kind of poem). He began working in his hometown of Stratford, but by 1592, he began writing in London. He became rich enough to buy a house in the capital and another in Stratford. He wrote sad stories called tragedies(悲剧), like Romeo and Juliet, funny stories or comedies, romantic stories and stories about history, such as Julius Caesar. ‎ Shakespeare died on his birthday in 1616, almost 400 years ago. But why are his works still popular today?‎ His works looked at common human themes, such as betrayal, murder, lust, power, ambition and love. These themes are as much a part of human nature today as they were all those years ago and are the themes we see in modern soap operas and Hollywood films. Even though his theatre, The Globe, burned down in 1613 it was rebuilt in London in 1997 and you can still see his plays performed there today.‎ Shakespeare’s influence on the English language can still be felt today. We talk about“fair play”, meaning honest behavior but this phrase was first used by Shakespeare. And it was Shakespeare who came up with the expression of ‎ “disappear into thin air”, which we still use it today when we lose something. Besides, Shakespeare’s works have been translated into many languages in the world. And perhaps we’ll still be as fascinated by his works 400 years from now as we’ve been for almost the last 400.‎ ‎60. What is mainly about in the last paragraph?‎ ‎ A. Shakespeare’ works have been translated into many languages.‎ ‎ B. Shakespeare invented many interesting words and phrases in English.‎ ‎ C. Shakespeare wrote many articles on how to understand English phrases.‎ ‎ D. The influence of Shakespeare’s works on the English language to us.‎ ‎ 8‎ ‎ All living things on the earth need other living things to live. Nothing lives alone. Most animals must live in a group, and even a plant grows close together with others of the same kind. Sometimes one living thing kills another, one eats and the other is eaten. Each kind of life eats another kind of life in order to live, and together they form a food chain(链条). Some food chains are simple, while others are not. But all food chains begin with the sun, and all food chains become broken up if one of the links disappears.‎ ‎ All life needs sunlight to live on. But only plants can use sunlight directly. Plants are "factories". They make food from sunlight, water and things in the soil and air. Plants feed all other living things. Animals can only use the sun’s energy after it has been changed into food by plants. Some animals feed directly on plants,  others eat smaller animals. Meat-eating animals are only eating plants indirectly.‎ ‎ What about human beings? We are members of many food chains. We eat rice, vegetables, and fruits and so on. We also eat meat and drink milk. But men often break up the food chains. They kill wild animals. They also make rivers, lakes and seas polluted, when these rivers, lakes and seas are polluted, the fish in them can not be eaten. If men eat the fish, they will get strange diseases.‎ ‎ Each form of life is linked to all others. Breaking the links puts all life in danger.‎ ‎55. What is the passage mainly about?‎ A. The sun’s energy.                  ‎ B. Plants.‎ C. Food Chains.                     ‎ D. Living Things.‎ D ‎ ‎ One of the things I always believe is that no matter how bad something is, you can take something positive out of it. The one time I wasn't sure of that was on September 11.‎ ‎ I usually wake up at 6:30 or 7:00 in the morning. That day, I happened to wake up earlier. I turned on the TV and I saw that a plane had crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center. My first reaction was that it was a terrible accident. Then I saw another plane fly into the South Tower and I realized that I was witnessing an act of terrorism(目击恐怖袭击).‎ ‎ My wife and I spent the day watching the terrible pictures over and over again. When I watched family members looking for their loved ones, the pain in their eyes was something I would never forget. I couldn't understand how something this terrible could have happened.‎ ‎ It wasn't until a few weeks after September 11 that I began to see that perhaps some good did come from this tragedy(悲剧). People seem different now, more understanding, more tolerant(宽容的). Little things that seemed to be such a trouble before are no longer big things. Personally, I am more tolerant than I was. I realize life is too short to let myself get worried over small things.‎ ‎ People go to work and don't come back. One moment they're living and the next minute they're not. And, it doesn't matter who you are, there is nothing you can do about it. We never know when our time here will be over, so we all need to make the most of every minute we have.‎ ‎ You try to learn from what happened. You can't be used up by it. You can't live by it. All you can do is just live.‎ ‎60. What's the best title of this passage?‎ ‎ A. A Report about September 11       B. September 11 and My Family ‎ C. September 11 and My Turn         D. Keeping pets lowers blood pressure and makes people less worried. Animals are increasingly important in treating older people who have memory loss and other brain problems. These people often feel nervous and upset. Activities with animals help them improve their physical condition and also give them joy, entertainment and loving friendship. ‎ ‎ Here is a case that shows the benefits of animals. John was a six-year-old mute. He had no physical problems. He just refused to talk. His older cousin, Ned, had a parrot called Sally, and John used to visit it. When he arrived, Net used to say, “Hi, John!” We all know parrots copy what they hear. After a few visits, Sally began saying “Hi, John!” when John came into the room. Then, one day, John turned to the parrot and replied “Hi, Sally!” Staying with the parrot encouraged John to begin talking. ‎ ‎ Another use of animal helpers is in schools. In some cases, animals are used to help children with physical or personal problems. In other cases, they are used to teach children to get on and share with others, and even to teach them about animals. ‎ ‎ If you want to know more about animal helper programmes, you can get in touch with organizations like Riding for the Disabled or do a search under “animal therapy” on the Internet. You don’t have to be an animal trainer or a doctor to join in. ‎ ‎56. Which is NOT mentioned as an illness that animals can help with? ‎ A. Heart disease B. Cancer C. Fever D. Blood pressure ‎ ‎57. The underlined word “mute” in paragraph 3 is closest in meaning to “_______”. ‎ A. a person who speaks slowly B. a person who does not speak ‎ C. a person who cannot hear D. a person who enjoys talking ‎ ‎58. The purpose of paragraph 3 is to _______. ‎ A. show how animals can help with illnesses ‎ B. discuss the problems of keeping pets ‎ C. describe how to train animal helpers ‎ D. introduce some new medical research ‎ ‎59. How can animals help school children according to the passage? ‎ A. They can improve children’s memory. ‎ B. They can make children more popular. ‎ C. They can increase children’s blood pressure. ‎ D. They can teach children to share with each other. ‎ ‎60. What is the best title of this passage? ‎ A. Be kind to animals B. Talking to animals ‎ C. Columbus and his men had to live on a small island for several months while they tried to repair their ship and return to Spain. ‎ ‎ At first, the local people on the island were very kind to the European visitors, giving them all the food and clothes they needed to survive. However, as the months passed, the local people became more and more unhappy with their guests, who were tricking and stealing from them. Finally the locals decided to stop helping. Without food or any way to leave the island, Columbus’ group was soon in serious trouble. ‎ ‎ Luckily for Columbus, he had a book about the stars and planets on his ship. It described the movements of all the objects in the night sky. The book, written by a well-known German scientist, said there would be a total lunar eclipse (月食) on the evening of February 29, 1504 and how long it would last. ‎ ‎ Columbus worked out the difference in time between Germany and North America. He then had a meeting with the local leaders just before the eclipse would take place. In this meeting, Columbus told them his god was angry because the local people were no longer giving food. So his god would take away the moon to punish them. At the moment Columbus finished talking, just as he had planned, the moon began disappearing. ‎ ‎ The local leaders grew frightened and quickly agreed to provide Columbus with food and anything else he wanted. But first, Columbus’ god had to return the moon. Columbus told them he would have to discuss the idea with his god on his ship. While phones are still widely use for communication, a recent study has found that most students think talking on mobile phones is now old-fashioned. ‎ ‎ London University researchers surveyed 1055 young people aged 13 to 18 about their mobile phone habits. The researchers divided mobile phone use into “communication”and “entertainment”. Communication included talking on the phone and writing messages using texting(短信)or chatting software. Entertainment was made up of playing games, watching movies, listening to music and surfing the Internet. The findings were then compared to a 2008 study, to see what changed. Six years ago the average student spent 36% of their mobile phone time making or receiving calls. In 2014, only 10% of time was used for talking.
