The statement said the change is meant to balance population development, stop a falling birth rate (出生率) and strengthen the country’s labor force (劳动力). China, with the largest population in the world, started the onechild policy in 1980. But the government allowed only a ‎ small number of couples to have two children. Fox example, some families in the countryside could have two children, if the firstborn is a girl.‎ In 2013, the Chinese government gave other couples a chance to have two children if one of them was an only child.‎ Jiang Quanbao, a teacher and population expert, explained how Chinese families react (反应) to the newest policy. “Too many young people in the cities are no longer interested in having a second child,” he said. “People in the countryside are more interested. But some of them are already allowed to have two children.” At the end of 2014, China had a population of 1.37 billion people. A total of 800 million of them have jobs. But the labor market will be in great need of labor by the year 2050. With the twochild policy, an increase in births can solve this problem.‎ Boys and girls, what do you think of the twochild policy? Do you want to have a newborn brother or sister?‎ ‎43. Why has the government ended the onechild policy?‎ A. Because we have a small population.‎ B. Because millions of people have jobs.‎ C. Because most families want to have a second child.‎ D. They are angry with it. D. They don’t know about it at all.‎ ‎45. When will our country be seriously short of labor if onechild policy continues?‎ A. In 2013. B. In 2035. C. In 2050. D. In 2070.‎ ‎46. What’s the order of the following events?‎ a. The government allowed all the families to have two children.‎ b. China had a population of 1.37 billion people.‎ c. Some families in the countryside could have two children.‎ d. Families could have two children if one parent was an only child.‎ A. c d b a B. b a d c C. d c b a D. c a d b D If you bought some candies months ago but never ate it,how can you tell whether it's still eatable? The easiest way is to check the"expiration(截止) date (EXP)"printed on the cover. If that date has already passed, you're likely to throw the candies away. But is that really necessary?‎ According to a new report from the NRDC,tons of food is wasted each year, largely because people don't fully understand what expiration dates,or"use﹣by dates",actually mean,so they think the food is not safe to eat.‎ Food dating was introduced in 1975 because customers wanted more information about the things that they were eating. When they first showed up,use﹣by dates only showed freshness because producers wanted their products to be tasted in their best conditions.‎ However, most customers mistakenly believed that use﹣by dates showed how safe the food was.But the truth is that these dates aren't related to the danger of food poisoning(中毒).Eggs, for example, can still be eaten three to five weeks after being bought, even though the use﹣by date is much earlier. When their use﹣by dates pass, cookies may lose their crunch (松脆的口感),but they are not harmful.‎ ‎"It's an unclear subject, the difference between food quality(质量) and food safety,"said Jena Roberts from a US food testing company."Even the workmates in the food factory are not sure about it.This is why the use﹣by dates must be printed on the covers of products."We hope it can help customers understand the information so that they won't waste a lot of food."‎ Another problem is that the quality levels of different foods change differently. Some are still eatable long after their use﹣by date while others are not.‎ As a result, food factory officials are now thinking of changing the use﹣by date to a date which can show when food is most likely to be thrown away.‎ ‎47.Which of the following pictures can show the meaning of"expiration date (EXP)"?‎ ‎48.What did the use﹣by dates show at first according to the passage? ‎ A.Food freshness.‎ B.Food quality.‎ C.Food safety.‎ D.Food producer.‎ ‎49.What can we learn from Paragraph 4?‎ A.Most customers care more about freshness than food safety.‎ B.Most customers fully understand what expiration dates mean.‎ C."Expiration dates"were first used to show when food was likely to go bad.‎ D.Even after their expiration dates pass, some foods are still safe to eat.‎ ‎50.What is probably the best title for this passage? ‎ A.Customers and food ‎ B.Food quality and freshness C.Food dating ‎ D.Expiration dates and food safety.‎ ‎ 第二节 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,并在答题卡上 将该项涂黑。(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)‎ Bill is only fifteen years old, but he’s already very rich. Every evening my mother looks through magazines at home. And every night, I look at the posters with photos of David Beckham and Yao Ming on my bedroom wall before I go to sleep. Can we imagine life without paper or print? ‎ ‎[2](72)Paper was first created about 2,000 years ago, and has been made from silk, cotton, bamboo and since the 19th century from wood. And because there weren't many books, few people learned to read.‎ ‎[3]Then printing was invented in China. When printing was developed greatly at the beginning of the 11th century, books could be produced more quickly and cheaply. As a result, more people learned to read. After that, knowledge and ideas spread 74(1) .‎ ‎[4]Today information can be received online, downloaded from the Internet rather than ‎ found in books, and information can be kept on CDROMs or machines 74(2) MP3 players.‎ ‎[5]Computers are already used in classrooms, and newspapers and magazines can already be read online.
