‎2007—2010年广东省高考阅读理解B篇 ‎(2007年 B 篇)‎ ‎ Do you want to live with a strong sense of peacefulness, happiness, goodness, and self-respect? The collection of happiness actions broadly categorized as "honor" help you create this life of good feelings.‎ ‎ Here's an example to show how honorable actions create happiness.‎ ‎ Say a store clerk fails to charge us for an item. If we keep silent, and profit from the clerk's mistake, we would drive home with a sense of sneaky excitement. Later we might tell our family or friends about our good fortune. On the other hand, if we tell the clerk about the uncharged item, the clerk would be grateful and thank us for our honesty. We would leave the store with a quiet sense of honor that we might never share with another soul.‎ ‎ Then, what is it to do with our sense of happiness?‎ ‎ In the first case, where we don't tell the clerk, a couple of things would happen. Deep down inside we would know ourselves as a type of thief. In the process, we would lose some peace of mind and self-respect. We would also demonstrate that we cannot lie trusted, since we advertise our dishonor by telling our family and friends. We damage our own reputations by telling others. In contrast, bringing the error to the clerk's attention causes different things to happen. Immediately the clerk knows us to be honorable. Upon leaving the store, we feel honorable and our self-respect is increased. Whenever we take honorable action we gain the deep internal rewards of goodness and a sense of nobility.‎ ‎ There is a beautiful positive cycle that is created by living a life of honorable actions. Honorable thoughts lead to honorable actions. Honorable actions lead us to a happier existence. And it's easy to think and act honorably again when we're happy. While the positive cycle can be difficult to start, once it's started, it's easy to continue. Keeping on doing good deeds brings us peace of mind, which is important for our happiness.‎ ‎【解题导读】‎ 这是一篇说理与举证的议论文。 ‎ ‎46. Sometimes you’ll hear people say that you can’t expect someone else to love you until you love yourself. Either way, you’ve got to love yourself first and this can be tricky. Sure we all know that we’re the apple of our parents’ eyes, and that our Grandmas think we’re great talents and our Uncle Roberts think that we will go to the Olympics. but sometimes it’s a lot harder to think such nice thoughts about ourselves. If you find that believing in yourself is a challenge. it is time you build a positive self-image and learn to love yourself.‎ Self-image is your own mind’s picture of yourself. This image includes the way you look, the way you act, the way you talk and the way you think. Interestingly, our self-images are often quite different from the images others hold about US. Unfortunately, most of these images are more negative than they should be. Thus changing the way you think about yourself is the key to changing your self-image and your whole world.‎ The best way to defeat a passive self-image is to step back and decide to stress your successes. That is, make a list if you need to, but write down all of the great things you do every day. Don’t allow doubts to occur in it.‎ It very well might be that you are experiencing a negative self-image because you can’t move past one flaw or weakness that you see about yourself. Well, roll up your sleeves and make a change of it as your primary task. If you think you’re silly because you aren’t good at math, find a tutor. If you think you’re weak because you can’t run a mile, get to the track and practice. If you think you’re dull because you don’t wear the latest trends, buy a ‎ few new clothes. But remember, just because you think it doesn’t mean it’s true.‎ The best way to get rid of a negative serf-image is to realize that your image is far from objective, and to actively convince yourself of your positive qualities. Changing the way you think and working on those you need to improve will go a long way towards promoting a positive self-image. When you can pat(拍) yourself on the back, you’ll know you’re well on your way. ‎ ‎46. Who are the intended readers of the passage?‎ A. Parents. B. Adolescents.‎ C. Educators. D. People in general.‎ ‎【答案解析】B推理判断题 由第1段第4句中we’re the apple of our parents’ eyes…our Grandmas think we’re… ‎ ‎(2009年 B篇)‎ ‎ We once had a poster competition in our fifth grade art class. ‎ ‎ “You could win prizes,’’our teacher told US as she wrote the poster information on the blackboard. She passed out sheets of construction paper while continuing,“The first prize is ten dollars. You just have to make sure that the words on the blackboard appear somewhere on your poster. ”‎ We studied the board critically. Some of US looked with one eye and held up certain colors against the blackboard, rocking the sheets to the fight or left while we conjured up our designs. Others twisted their hair around their fingers or chewed their erasers while deep in thought. We had plans for that ten—dollar grand prize, each and every one of US. I'm going to spend mine on candies, one hopeful would announce, while another practiced looking serious, wise and rich. ‎ Everyone in the class made a poster. Some of us used parts of those fancy paper napkins, while others used nothing but colored construction paper. Some of US used big designs, and some of us preferred to gather our art tidily down in one comer of our poster and let the space draw the viewer's attention to it. Some of US would wander past the good students’ desks and then return to our own projects with a growing sense of hopelessness. It was yet another grown-up trick of the soil they seemed especially fond of。making all of US believe we had a fair chance, and then always—always—rewarding the same old winners. ‎ I believe I drew a sailboat, but I can’t say that with any certainty. I made it. I admired it. I determined it to be the very best of all of the posters I had seen, and then I turned it in. ‎ Minutes passed. ‎ No one came along to give me the grand prize, and then someone distracted me,and I probably never would have thought about that poster again. ‎ I was still sitting at my desk, thinking,What poster? When the teacher gave me an envelope with a ten-dollar bill in it and everyone in the class applauded for me. ‎ ‎【解题导读】‎ 本文的体裁是记述文,讲述作者小学五年级时一次课堂海报设计比赛的经历,给予作者激励,要读者相信自己。本片短文需要考生在理解文章的基础上,运用适当的逻辑思维与推理能力,理解字里行间隐藏的意思。‎ ‎46. What was the teacher's requirement for the poster?‎ A. It must appear in time. ‎ B. It must be done in class. ‎ C. It must be done on a construction sheet. ‎ D. It must include the words on the blackboard. ‎ ‎【答案解析】D 事实细节题 根据第二段最后一句“You just have to make sure that the words on the blackboard appear somewhere on your poster. ”可知,老师的要求是黑板上的内容需在海报上出现。所以这句话所表达的内容与D选项完全一致。‎ ‎47. The underlined phrase in paragraph 3 most probably means _____________. ‎ A. formed an idea for B. made an outline for C. made some space for D. chose some colors for ‎【答案解析】A 词义猜测题 从第三段的对称结构“Some of US looked with one eye and held up certain colors against the blackboard, rocking the sheets to the fight or left while we conjured up our designs. 与下文的“Others twisted their hair around their fingers or chewed their erasers while deep in thought.”来判断,他们都在为海报的设计绞尽脑汁,所以这里与our designs 搭配的谓语动词短语conjured up最可能的意思是:form an idea for (构思)。‎ ‎48. After the teacher’s words, all the students in the class _________. ‎ A. 1ooked very serious B. thought they would be rich C. began to think about their designs D. began to play games ‎【答案解析】C 细节理解+推理判断题 从第三段中“We studied the board critically. Some of US looked with one eye and held up certain colors against the blackboard, rocking the sheets to the fight or left while we conjured up our designs. Others twisted their hair around their fingers or chewed their erasers while deep in thought.” 生动形象地描写了同学们思考时的各种动作,从而可知,老实讲完后,学生们开始思考如何设计了。‎ ‎49. After seeing the good students’ designs, some students _________. ‎ A. 1oved their own designs more B. thought they had a fair chance C. put their own designs in a comer D. thought they would not win the prize ‎【答案解析】D 细节理解+推理判断题 根据第四段“Some of US would wander past the good students’ desks and then return to our own projects with a growing sense of hopelessness.”可知,一些学生看完别人的的设计之后感觉hopeless, 由此可以判断他们认为别人做得比自己好,自己不可能获胜。‎ ‎50. We can infer from the passage that the author ______________. ‎ A. enjoyed grown-up tricks very much B. 1oved poster competitions very much C. felt surprised to win the competition D. became wise and rich after the competition ‎【答案解析】C 逻辑判断题 从后面几段中“ trick…making all of us believe we had a fair chance…rewarding the same old ‎ winners…I probably never would have thought about that poster again”可看出,作者认为:这次海报设计比赛只是教师这些成年人玩的小把戏,目的是要让我们相信自己有机会,而实际上获奖的人肯定还是每次都获奖的那几个人。因此,作者对于自己获奖根本就没抱任何希望,而对于最终获奖自然会觉得惊讶。‎ ‎(2010年 B篇)‎ ‎ When something goes wrong,it can be very satisfying to say,”Well,it’s so-and-so’s fault.”or “I know I’m late, but it’s not my fault;the car broke down.”It is probably not your fault, but once you form the habit of blaming somebody or something else for a bad situation, you are a loser. You have no power and could do nothing that helps change the situation. However, you can have great power over what happens to you if you stop focusing on whom to blame and start focusing on how to remedy the situation. This is the winner’s key to success.‎ Winners are great at overcoming problems. For example, if you were late because your car broke down, maybe you need to have your car examined more regularly. Or, you might start to carry along with you the useful phone numbers, so you could call for help when in need. For another example, if your colleague causes you problems on the job for lack of responsibility or ability, find ways of dealing with his irresponsibility or inability rather than simply blame the person. Ask to work with a different person, or don’t rely on the person. You should accept that the person. Ask to work with a different person, or don’t rely on this person. You should accept that the person is not reliable and find creative ways to work successfully regardless of how your colleague fails to do his job well.‎ This is what being a winner is all about—creatively using your skills and talents so that you are successful no matter what happens. Winners don’t have fewer problems in their lives; they have just as many difficult situations to face as anybody else. They are just better at seeing those problems as challenges and opportunities to develop their own talents. So, stop focusing on “whose fault it is.” Once you are confident about your power over bad situations, problems are just stepping stop on for success.‎ ‎【解题导读】‎ 本文为议论文,阐述了成功者的秘诀。 ‎ ‎46.
