需要注意的是for one thing...for another..., some...other(s)..., first...second... ‎ Have you ever lost your temper? Did you yell or scream at those around you, even people you like or love? Did you want to break something or hit someone?‎ Everyone gets angry. We have lots of emotions. At different times, we may be happy, sad or jealous. 1 .‎ It’s perfectly okay to be angry at time(偶尔)--- in fact, it’s important to get angry sometimes. Anger can even be a good thing. When we are treated unfairly, anger can help us stand up for ourselves.‎ ‎__2___ some people keep their anger buried deep inside. If you do this, you might get a headache or your stomach might start to hurt. You may just feel crummy (糟糕的) about yourself or start to cry. It’s not good to hide your anger, so you should find a way to let it out without hurting yourself or others.‎ When you start to feel angry, you can count to 10, draw a picture of anger, play a video game, run as fast as you can or do something active. An effective way is to talk to a friend you can trust. 3 .‎ ‎4 Instead, admit to yourself that you are angry and try to figure out why you are angry and what you can do to keep the situation from happening again.‎ Never getting angry is impossible. But, you should always remember that how you act when you’re angry can make the situation better or worse. ‎ ‎5 Take charge of it!‎ A. Once you talk about anger, those bad feelings usually start to go away.‎ B. Taking it out on others never solves anything.‎ C. Anger is just another way we feel.‎ D. Here is an important way to deal with anger.‎ E. But anger must be released in the right way.‎ F. Every coin has two sides.‎ G. Don’t let anger be the boss of you.‎ 一、阅读短文,把握中心 二、明白体裁,理清思路 三、上下求索,瞻前顾后 四、确定答案,入文复查 通过阅读该短文,知该短文话题是人们对“生气---这种情绪的掌控”。 ‎ ‎1.C 解析:前面谈到“Everyone gets angry”,后面谈到“To be angry at times---is important to get angry sometimes.”‎ ‎2.E. 解析:整个第三自然段的核心意思是“It’s not good to hide your anger, so you should find a way to let it out without hurting yourself or others”.(把愤怒埋藏在心底是不可取的,所以要找到一种在不伤害别人的情况下宣泄自己不良情绪的方法)‎ ‎3.A. 解析:“An effective way is to talk to a friend you can trust.” 然后承接下一句“Once you talk about anger, those bad feelings usually start to go away.”‎ ‎4.B. 解析:“Taking it out on others never solves anything.”然后是转折关系“Instead, admit to yourself that you are angry and try to figure out why you are angry and what you can do”.‎ ‎5. G. 解析:“Don’t let anger be the boss of you”然后是顺接关系“Take charge of it!”‎ 第二部分:高考真题回放(2007--2012)‎ ‎3.(2009年宁夏,海南卷) ‎ ‎ Getting your children to study can be a little like getting them to eat their vegetables. ‎ ‎71 Make a study time and have it at the same time every day. This will help your kids to learn to schedule their day and will give them a sense of control over how they spend their time. ‎ Allow them to study in blocks of time, such as for half an hour with a five-minute break in the middle. 72 Ideal (理想的)study times are after dinner or right after school before dinner. ‎ Never allow your children to study in front of the television, as that will encourage passive activity. 73‎ You’ll also need to help your kids find the right place to study. After you’ve set up a good study time for little learners, set up a good place where they can get those creative juices flowing. ‎ ‎74 Make sure there is a table or a desk and a comfortable chair. ‎ ‎75 This includes helping them out with their homework sometimes and being there for them with the answers to any questions. One of my new tasks is to make monthly progress reports on my department in front of other senior officials. During my first meeting, I presented and then opened the floor to questions. 71 My first reaction was to answer defensively. Later, I realized that I shouldn’t have felt that way. But how can I keep cool and effectively answer questions in this type of settings?‎ Answer: Congratulations on your new position! Presenting in front of your peers (同事) is a hard task in itself, and it becomes much more difficult when a question-and-answer period is required. Question-and-answer periods are a great way to clarify the message and strengthen key points. 72 .‎ ‎● 73 ‎ When a person is asking a question, show interest and a desire to understand the question by listening and asking for clarification (澄清).‎ ‎● Buy time.‎ When facing a hard question, most people can’t give an answer immediately. Buy time by repeating the question in your own words. 74 These techniques allow you to quickly organize your thoughts as well as to make sure you will be correctly answering the question.‎ ‎● Suggest a private meeting.‎ A one-on-one meeting is a calmer setting than speaking in front of your peers. 75 ‎ A. Show your true interest. ‎ B. Restate the question with respect.‎ C. Some ideas can be quite concrete.‎ D. There were many difficult questions.‎ E. (2011年全国新课标卷) Money Matters ‎ Parents should help their children understand money. 71 So you may start talking about money when your child shows an interest in buying things, candy or toys, for example.‎ 1. The basic function of money Begin explaining the basic function of money by showing how people trade money for goods or services. It is important to show your child how money is traded for the things he wants to have. If he wants to have a toy, give him the money and let him hand the money to the cashier(收银员). 72 When your child grows a bit older and understands the basic function of money, you can start explaining more complex ways of using money.‎ 2. Money lessons Approach money lessons with openness and honesty. 73 If you must say no to a child’s request to spend money, explain, “ You have enough toy trucks for now.” Or, if the request is for many different things, say, “ You have to make a choice between this toy and that toy.”‎ 3. ‎74 ‎ Begin at the grocery store. Pick out two similar brands of a product--- a name-brand butter and a ‎ generic (无商标产品),for example. You can show your child how to make choices between different brands of a product so that you can save money. 75 If he chooses the cheaper brand, allow him to make another purchase with the money saved. Later, you may explain how the more expensive choice leaves less money for other purchases.‎ A. Wise decisions B. The value of money C. Permit the child to choose between them.‎ D. Tell your child why he can –or cannot --- have certain things.‎ E. Ask yourself what things that cost money are most important to you F. Talk about how the money bought the thing after you leave the toy store.‎ G. The best time to teach a child anything about money is when he shows an interest.‎ ‎6.(2011年北京) Public Speaking and Critical Thinking ‎ What is critical thinking? To a certain degree, it’s a matter of logic(逻辑)—of being able to spot weaknesses in other people’s arguments and to avoid them in your own. It also includes related skills such as distinguishing fact from opinion and assessing the soundness of evidence.‎ In the broad sense, critical thinking is focused, organized thinking—the ability to see clearly the relationships among ideas. 71 The greatest thinkers, scientists, and inventors have often taken information that was readily available and put it together differently to produce new ideas. That, too, is critical thanking.‎ ‎ 72 As the class goes on, for example, you will probably spend a good deal at time organizing your speeches. While this may seem like a purely mechanical(机械的)exercise, it is closely connected with critical thinking. If the structure of your speech is loose and confused, chances are that your thinking is also disordered and confused. If, on the other hand, the structure is clear, there is a good chance your thinking is too. Organizing a speech is not just a matter of arranging the ideas you already have 73 ‎ What is true of organization is true of many aspects of public speaking. 74 As you work on expressing your ideas in clear, accurate language, you will improve your ability to think clearly and accurately. 75 As you learn to listen critically to speeches in class, you will be better able to assess the ideas of speakers in a variety of situations.‎ If you take full advantage of your speech class, you will be able to develop your skills as a critical thinker in many circumstances. This is one reason public speaking has been regarded as a vital part of education since the days of ancient Greece.‎ A.Rather, it is an important part of shaping the ideas themselves.‎ B.This may seem like a lot of time, but the rewards are well worth it.‎ C.It may also help you to know that there is no such thing as a perfect speech.‎ D.It has often been said that there are few new ideas in the world, only reorganized ideas.‎ ‎ E.If you are wondering what this has to do with your public speaking class, the answer is quite a lot.‎ F.The skills you learn in your speech class can help you become a more effective thinker in a number of ways G.As you study the role of evidence and reasoning in speech making, you will see how they can be used in other forms of communication as well.‎ ‎7.(2011年辽宁卷) ‎ Easy Ways to Keep Your Brain Sharp ‎ Everyone is forgetful, but as we age, we start to feel like our brains are slowing down a bit—and that can be a very annoying thing. 71 Read on for some techniques worth trying.‎ ‎ 1. 72 ‎ ‎ People who regularly made plans and looked forward to upcoming events had a 50 percent ‎ reduced chance of Alzheimer's disease (早老性痴呆症), according to a recent study. 73 Something as simple as setting a goal to have a weekly coffee date with a friend will do. There's evidence that people who have a purpose in life or who are working on long or short-term goals appear to do better. In other words, keep your brains looking forward.‎ ‎ 2. Go for a walk. ‎ ‎ Mildly raised glucose (葡萄糖) levels can harm the area of the brain that helps you form memories and physical activity can help get blood glucose down to normal levels. In fact, exercise produces chemicals that are good for your brain. 74 ‎ ‎ 3. Learn something new.‎ ‎ Take a Spanish class online, join a drawing club, or learn to play cards. A study found that mental stimulation (刺激) limits the weakening effects of aging on memory and the mind. But the best thing for your brain is when you learn something new and are physically active at the same time. 75 Or go dancing with your friends.‎ ‎ A. Focus on the future.‎ ‎ B. This can be especially harmful to the aged.‎ ‎ C. It should be something like learning gardening.‎ ‎ D. So take a few minutes each day to do some reading. ‎ ‎ E. But don't worry if your schedule isn't filled with life-changing events.‎ ‎ F. Luckily, research shows there is a lot you can do to avoid those moments.‎ ‎ G. In other words, when you take care of your body, you take care of your brain.‎ ‎8.(2012年全国I卷) ‎ ‎ Kids' health: Four steps for fighting stress Everybody gets stressed time to time. 71 Some ways of dealing with stress 一like screaming or hitting someone一don't solve much. But other ways, like talking to someone you trust, can lead you to solving your problem or at least feeling better.‎ Try taking these four steps, the next time you are stressed:‎ ‎(1) Get support. When you need help, reach out to the people who care about you. Talk to a trusted adult, such as parent or other relatives. 72 They might have had similar problems, such as dealing with a test, or the death of a beloved pet.‎ ‎ (2) Don't take it out on yourself. Sometimes when kids are stressed and upset they take it out on themselves. Oh, dear, that's good idea. Remember that there are always people to help you. Don't take it out on yourself. 73 ‎ ‎ (3) Try to solve the problem. After you're calm and you have support from adults and friends, it's time to get down to business. 74 Even if you can't solve it all, you can solve a piece of it.‎ ‎ (4) Be positive. Most stress is temporary(暂时的).Remember stress does go away, especially when you figure out the problem and start working on solving it. These steps aren't magic, but they do work. And if you can stay positive as you make your way through a tough time, you'll help yourself feel better even faster. 75 ‎ A. Ask for a helping hand to get you through the tough situation.‎ B. Notice your friends' feelings and find a way to help them.‎ C. Different people feel stress in different ways D. Ah, it feels so good when the stress is gone.‎ E. You need to figure out what the problem is.‎ F. And don't forget about your friends.‎ G. Then, find a way to calm down。‎ How to Make Friends ‎ Friendship is a very important human relationship and everyone needs good friends. G ood friendship has many benefits. It offers companionship, improves self-worth and promotes good health. There are times in our lives such as when we have recently moved into a new town, or changed our jobs or schools. Such changes often leaves us without a friend 71 . But for many of us the process is difficult and requires courage. Below are some helpful suggestions on how to make and keep friends. ‎ ‎ 1. Associate with others. ‎ The first step to making friends is associating with other people. You can go to public places to meet new people. Besides, you will need to make yourself known by becoming an active member of such places. ‎ 2. Start a conversation Starting a conversation is the second most important step in making new friends. 72 You can always start the conversation. Being able to make small talk is a very useful skill in relating with other people. ‎ 3. ‎73 ‎ Choosing friends with common interests is important in building friendship as these interests would always bring you and your friend together, Hanging out will always be a pleasant experience. ‎ 4. Let it grow. ‎ It is a good thing to stay in touch. However, try not to press your new friend with calls, messages or visits as this would likely wear him or her out and finally you may lose your friend. 74 . The best friendships are the ones that grow naturally. ‎ 5. Enjoy your friendship The best way to enjoy your friendship is to allow your friends to be themselves. 75 Try not to change them from who they are to what you want them to be. Become the kind of friend you will want your friend to be to you. ‎ A. Be cheerful. ‎ B. Do things together. ‎ C. Do not wait to be spoken to. ‎ D. Try not to find fault with your friends. ‎ E. Making new friends comes easy for some people. ‎ F. For a friendship to develop you need to stay in touch. ‎ G. So you will need to give your friend time to react to you. ‎ ‎ ‎ 第三部分:实战演练 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。‎ ‎ 1.‎ Trust has been considered as the basis of any relationship, including friendship. No relationship can last long with a lack of trust. Not many of your friends will have real faith in you as you would like to believe. _71_ . Sometimes, it takes years, even a complete lifetime, to trust someone. However, how do we know if our friends have faith in us?‎ ‎ _72_ . With whom will you share things that you don’t want everyone to know? It would be with a close friend, whom you trust as much as you trust yourself. While a few of your friends may be fiercely protective of their privacy and may not tell their secrets to anyone, those who do, surely find you trustworthy and reliable.‎ ‎ Whom do you look up to for advice when you need it the most? It has to be either your parents or your friends. _73_ . This is a shining example of trust. You only seek advice from people you hold in high regard and find dependable. The friends who trust you will never forget to include you in the important decisions of their life. ‎ ‎ Arguments and heated discussions are a part of every relationship, and this is also true for friendship. _74_ . While some people find it difficult to forgive and forget, your friends will never have problems moving on. It is because they trust you and believe that you will never cause any pain to them on purpose. ‎ ‎ There are times in life when you find yourself a lonely soldier. _75_ . Your friends will never let you down and will strongly stand for you when you need encouragement. You can determine that they trust you and believe in your beliefs, if they side with you when you need them the most. ‎ A. People can be extraordinarily jealous(猜疑的) sometimes.‎ B. You know they will never pass on a wrong suggestion.‎ C. In fact, winning trust is, by far, the most challenging aspect of relationships.‎ D. Two people cannot have identical reactions to a situation and different opinions do exist.‎ E. No matter how close you are to your friends, you cannot take that comfort level for granted.‎ F. If your friends share their secrets, there’s a good possibility that they have much faith in you.‎ G. However, people who are fortunate to have been blessed with true friends are never alone in any battle. ‎ ‎2. ‎ What we wear at home is our own business. We can dress freely at home. No one will care or debate about it. _71_ . Why? That’s because the way we dress affects us and other people. It is basically a matter of self respect and respect for others. ‎ ‎ According to a famous behavioral economist, humans have a pattern of irrational(不理智的) behaviours. One of them is called “the effect of expectation”. Ariely says that when a person believes beforehand that something is good, he will look upon it generally as good, _72_ . If you wear a cheap old T-shirt like a beggar, the respect and expectation that you gain from people around you will be poor. ‎ ‎ Some people might argue that we should have the freedom to dress however we want regardless of what people think. They can also argue that we should not judge people based on how a person dresses. _73_ . People judge us based on how we look, and that is a fact that we should accept. ‎ ‎ In fact, we don’t have to spend a lot of money buying the most expensive clothes. It doesn’t make sense to go to a supermarket in a tux (晚礼服). _74_ . Experts suggest that we should have various levels of dressing. For example, level 1: dressing for staying at home, level 2: casual dress for going out with friends, level 3: formal dress for work, level 4: attire (盛装) for business functions and so on.‎ ‎ _75_ . When we choose clothes to wear, we should be aware of how it makes us generally look. At least we should be aware of it instead of just wearing it and going without giving a second thought. Dressing up is how you “sell” yourself so don’t take it too lightly. ‎ A. The dress should match the occasion.‎ B. It is helpful to have fashion awareness when we dress.‎ C. Therefore, the look is important for a first impression.‎ D. That is pretty ideal, but it is not practical in the real world.‎ E. It changes people’s reactions towards you in a positive way.‎ F. Therefore, it is a good idea to be aware of how we behave at home.‎ G. However, when we dress up and go out to public places, it becomes an issue. ‎ ‎3. ‎ You all now what a sandwich is. You have eaten plenty of them in your lifetime. A sandwich consists of two pieces of bread with all kinds of stuff in between. _71_ . People who belong to the sandwich generation are those who are taking care of their own families as well as their aging ‎ parents.‎ ‎ _72_ . If a couple waits until late in their life to start a family, by the time the child becomes a crazy teenager the parents may find themselves with the responsibility of taking care of their elderly parents as well. For example, a 55-year-old woman must try to cope with her 17-year-old son, while also attending to her 85-year-old father at the same time.‎ ‎ The sandwich generation consists primarily of women in the 45 to 56 age range. They are multi-tasking ----- they become caretakers as well as nurses. _73_ . Often the elderly parents are in poor health and this must be dealt with. These women spend a lot of money on their kids and a lot of time taking care of their parents.‎ ‎ Historically, children and grandchildren have always helped care for the elderly people in their family. Often several generations lived together in the same house. This practice is not prevalent(普遍地) nowadays. _74_‎ ‎ Another interesting fact about those in the sandwich generation is that they may not have any siblings(兄弟姐妹), because families have gotten smaller in the last century. _75_ . As a result, the burden of taking care of elderly parents is on one child rather than among a whole passel(群) of kids, who shared the responsibility as it once was. ‎ A. Some people of the sandwich generation are seniors themselves.‎ B. There are 20 million American women who like the sandwich very much.‎ C. Living to the age of 85 or older used to be rare but it is not so any more.‎ D. And sometimes they can’t handle it very well but they don’t have a choice.‎ E. Alternatively, they may only have one sibling but may live far from each other.‎ F. That visual image should give you an idea of what the “sandwich generation’ is.‎ G. However, this type of living arrangement may return because of financial pressures.‎ ‎4.‎ ‎ As humans, it seems we are natural and compulsive liars. Most people tell some kind of lie every day. _71_ But in many instances it is not seen as being very bad.‎ ‎ Lying often starts with wrong-doing. For whatever reason, we do something that others disapprove of. When they are in a position of greater power, they might punish us. _72__. As a consequence, we deny what we have done, pointing the finger at others or justifying the act with some excuse.‎ ‎ When others might not directly punish us, embarrassment is a powerful form of self-inflicted(自我施加的) punishment. We imagine what others are thinking and assume that they are silently disapproving. __73__. We, therefore, lie to reduce the possible negative impact on our social position.‎ ‎ The opposite side of embarrassment is to gain the admiration of other people. As a result, a specific advantage we seek when lying is for others to think highly of us. Impression-management is particularly common in social and work situations, where we want others to think we are successful in order to get their approval and the subsequent(随后的) rewards this can bring, _74__.‎ ‎ A more socially acceptable reason for lying is to help others, particularly your friends and family. Sometimes, however, we use this as an excuse, telling ourselves we are lying for others when we really are gaining benefit for ourselves, such as avoiding embarrassment. __75__ For example saying you are feeling fine when you know it would upset a friend if you said you have a serious illness. White lies are also often used in saving face.‎ ‎ A. Of course some are more serious than others.‎ ‎ B. Even if they don’t, their disapproval may be punishment enough.‎ ‎ C. Sometimes we avoid telling things to other people more for their benefit than ours.‎ ‎ D. The possible loss of social position that causes embarrassment is a powerful force on us. ‎ ‎ E. The ability to lie and lie successfully is thought to be related to the development of brain.‎ F. For example, lying in order to make oneself look good is particularly common in job interviews. ‎ G. When it comes to covering up their lies, people learn quite young that they should pretend to be innocent.‎ ‎ ‎ ‎5 ‎ Did you know that the unconscious mind can open up when we write? Journaling, writing and reading poetry or just writing about a specific problem can help the mind deal with its own issues and keep its balance. __71_. It affects the immune system (免疫系统) and the heart, and even the biochemical stability of the brain and nervous system as a result. Writing is a form of therapy (治疗) for the mind and for the body.‎ ‎ __72_. Groups like the National Association for Poetry Therapy and The National Federation for Poetry Therapy are examples. There is also a specific scientific publication called The Journal of Poetry Therapy and it provides accurate information for the professionals in the area.‎ ‎ However, as far back in history as some ancient Greek philosophers, poetry was already referred to as a pathway to liberate emotions and bring cures. __73_. Recently, with the advance of scientific research, findings have proved that writing can be a therapeutic tool in the treatment of conditions such as eating disorders, mental and emotional issues.‎ ‎ As easy as pulling out a piece of paper and a pen, you could also benefit from the positive influences of writing. But writings should be free, about how you feel or what you wish for. __74_. Write for yourself. Write about you, about your feelings, and about your fears. Use the words that first come to your mind. When you write about your issues, your brain will acknowledge your problems and your heart will be able to lighten its burden.‎ ‎ However, remember that you should always ask for help if the issues you are dealing with require medical or professional attention. __75_. Writing as a therapeutic tool has its benefits as well as its limitations.‎ A. Writing a poem won’t cost you a lot of time.‎ B. Therapy has its place in the treatment of specific conditions.‎ C. The limitation of thoughts or feelings can hurt the body gradually.‎ D. Today, you need to receive some training to learn how to write poems.‎ E. There are many organizations that use writing as a therapy, especially poetry.‎ F. You should forget about the stressful school report or the spelling competition.‎ G. On the other hand, if some of your old books have scratches on the cover or some pages unglued, fix them as well as you can and put them in a separate place.‎ ‎ Then you should write a list of organizations that may be interested in your books. 73 Then you can tell the different organizations exactly what you have to offer .You can also take your old books to community and senior centers .Your offer will probably be very much welcome and enjoyed and you may even help them create their own library. ‎ ‎ 74 You can log into a website, register the book and let it find new readers. You will be asked to print out a label that you will have to stick inside the book. Then you just leave it on the train, in a coffee bar or wherever you want.‎ Organizing a book party is also a fun idea you can put into practice with old books. Not so. 71 But those allergic reactions are relatively rare, affecting about 4% of adults.‎ Milk’s different. There are people who have true milk allergies that can cause deadly reactions. But most people who have bad reactions to milk aren’t actually allergic to it. 72 ‎ Instead, whether people can digest milk due to lactase (乳酶糖),which can digest the main sugar--- lactose(乳糖)----found in milk. 73 If you’re American or European, it’s hard to realize this , but being able to digest milk as an adult is not normal.‎ Less than 40% of people in the world keep the ability to digest lactose after childhood. The numbers are often given as close to 0% of Native Americans, 5% of Asians, 25% of Africans, 50% of Mediterranean people and 90% of northern Europeans. 74 Being able to digest milk is so strange that scientists say we shouldn’t call people’s not being able to digest milk a disease. Instead, what’s really unusual is the ability to continue to drink milk.‎ ‎75 ‎‎ A‎ long-held theory was that a genetic mutation(变异) showed up first in Northern Europe ,where people got less vitamin D from the sun and therefore did better if they could also get a special vitamin from milk. As such, keeping your tyres in good condition is vital to your safety. 71 ‎ ‎ When tyres are under inflated (充气不足的) , they increase the rolling resistance of a car. 72 And this means higher fuel bills. Paying more at the petrol station isn’t the only downside of tyres that aren’t properly inflated. The increased stress created between the road surface and an under inflated tyre causes it to wear faster. Worn tyres are not only expensive to replace, but they also affect the handling and breaking ability of a car and threaten people’s safety.‎ ‎ Over-inflation is not a good choice, either.73 By inflating a tyre above its recommended pressure, you decrease this contact area , thereby reducing the amount of traction(牵引力) the car has. Wear along the centre of a tyre indicates long-time over-inflation.‎ ‎ As the pressure of tyres is such an important consideration, you should check it regularly ---tyre specialists recommend at least once a month. There doesn’t have to be anything wrong with tyres for them to lose a little pressure. 74 When checking the pressure, do it when the tyres are cold. Checking the pressure on tyres that are warm (i.e. immediately after the car has been driven for any length of time) will give a false reading, as air expands when heated.‎ ‎ 75 Most commonly---driving at a great speed and emergency braking. Driving over holes or hitting something with your tyres can cause damage to the tyre structure. Inspect your tyres regularly for cuts, as they can lead to tyre failure.‎ A. Certain other factors affect tyre wear.‎ B. Air will naturally escape out over a period of time. ‎ C. keeping tyres in top condition won’t cost too much money.‎ D. The area of contact between a tyre and the road is about the size of a man’s hand.‎ E. You should keep the car’s handbook in the car as you may need to ready it at any time.‎ F. In this situation, the engine has to work harder and use more fuel to push the car along.‎ G. The information below will help you look after your tyres so that they stay safer longer.‎ ‎ 23‎ Paula Tippet knows that a good social life adds to personal pleasure and achievement. 71 Invitations became fewer and no one called her any more.‎ ‎ 72 And she found it soon, sooner than she found why her performance at work was not as wonderful as before.
